Spak, it's Mario Kart 64, not Super Mario Kart 64.  I think I mentioned this before.

I hope you're not one of those people that confuse Mario Bros. with Super Mario Bros.  Or Metroid with Super Metroid.  Etc.

That might be a possibility for Matt, now that you mention it.  Taking the investigation into his own hands sounds better than taking the diamonds for himself, so now I hope that does happen.  Poor Matt never gets a break when it comes to his work, I hope he does eventually get something worth shoving those snotty cops' and FBI's noses into.

I had thought that the final version would be 500 Wii Points, a one-time fee, when finalized.

If the trial version is a whole 1200 Wii Points, the final version could be that much or even more.  That's common sense.

I was going to say something about bandwidth or servers or something, but then I remembered that it's just a browser downloaded onto your Wii, surfing the Internet through your existing Internet connection, meaning that there's no bandwidth/load/whatever issues on Nintendo's part while you surf.  So they can't justify it that way.

Well, I guess they calculated that enough people will be willing to pay that much.  It's all about the money, they wouldn't charge that much if they didn't think anyone would pay it.

Me, personally?  I might pay 1200 if the finalized version is much closer to as good as any browser on my computer and it's a one-time fee.  If it costs more than that, I'd be leery.  Subscription, definitely not.

I'm surprised the EX series got up to 3 instalments (just like the original series as well as the Alpha series).  From what I've played, the original EX was crap, and the minor changes in the sequels never really made it close to appealing as the 2D games were.  Well, maybe, MAYBE they're better than the first Street Fighter, but not by much.  The 3D never felt right.

There have always been rumours that for the 20th anniversary of Street Fighter that Capcom would release a Street Fighter IV, in 3D done better.  It wouldn't be the EX series, but actually just Street Fighter IV.  No difference to me, really, III was so different from II in terms of characters.  I would really prefer a Street Fighter Alpha 4...  Anyway, it's just rumours.  Nothing more.

Mature games have been on Nintendo consoles, but people probably see it as the exception rather than an expected number as the rule.  Even though the PlayStations have more Bob the Builder and Barbie games, the PlayStation isn't seen as being for kids as much.  People in general are irrational and go with image and vibe.

I just wanted to say that I thought saying that one needed a "scientific mind" to understand "kilohypes" as if the simple pun was sophisticated humour sounded rather elitist and snobby.  Unless that is the joke.  "Brilliant, I say.  'Tis a jolly good bit of humour.  I do so love the subtle nuances of making hype into a metric unit of measure.  I am certainly in stitches.  I do wish to roll on the floor giggling like a giddy schoolgirl if only it were proper."  :P

Then again, I could be jaded or something.  I don't find much funny, and maybe that's my problem.  Elitist humour (oooh, you can use big words, X-Play, aren't you smart?), dumb humour - ironically known as college humour (fart jokes, jokes about particular sexual preferences or gender/sex jokes in general), and political humour (I'm a Canadian, and I don't like Bush either but if he's the target of so many jokes then why the heck did you vote for him?) are examples of those that just don't hit the funny bone.  I wish I could laugh at more, maybe it's not so bad if I did.

But no point explaining it, it just makes it even less funny.

Daisy and Samus are SO right.

I should get an Ada avatar, BTW.

I actually thought Sylar did pretty well.  Sure, he was continuing to be a killer, but he convinced Mohinder that he was this guy Zane.  Okay, forget that, I can't believe he just "hid" the body in the back, he didn't even cover it up, WTF.

I could see why the episode was called "Run!"  I realy felt like things were getting worse for everyone.  Though Matt's encounter with Jessica was kind of neat, I was disappointed at what he did at the end.  I was disappointed in Nathan.  I was sad for Claire, whose all four parents are flawed in some way.  It's kind of tragic about her adopted mom.  Mohinder will clearly soon be in danger now that Sylar is hanging out with him.  Ando is an idiot, Hiro is in trouble, Nikki is useless, and heck, everybody else was useless in this episode.  At least Peter is trying to do something right but he didn't show up in this episode.

Maybe, like I said, as a drama, we're bound to get caught up in their lives, and with all the negative stuff that happened or is happening, that's probably why I didn't like this one.

It wasn't all bad, because of the Jessica and Matt encounter (Jessica actually looks hot!) but I would hope that next week's episode will be better, or at least feel better, and it wouldn't be too hard.

Just when I get off my high horse about Game Boy being two words (not one!), Kairon frustrates me again by making Scarface two words as well as Manhunt.  >_<

I would be an English teacher, except I'd probably get fired after totally freaking out about some kid's misuse of "your" and "you're", or writing "should of" instead of "should've" or something like that.

I see M-rated games like sex.  No individual person NEEDS sex to survive, but the species as a whole do.  I don't think any particular Nintendo console NEEDS M-rated games, but overall, they should have some.  I don't know if it's a matter of survivial, though.

Really, it's all for the image.  With the exception of blips like GTA, the best-selling games have usually always been E-rated games.  Say what you want about Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh!, but they make Nintendo and Konami a pretty penny.

Yeah, I don't find "kilohypes" that funny either.  It might work better as a subtle visual gag or spoken with the proper deliverance, but I don't think you'll get much more than a brief snicker out of me from that no matter how you present it.

I haven't had a good laugh in a while, the kind that leaves you in tears (or "in stitches", as they say, I think), or, you know, LITERALLY rolling on the floor.  You won't see "kilohypes" doing that for me.

I'm sure at some point someone will say that people who play games actually aren't visually oriented.  In fact, they have trouble paying attention to anything visual and therefore video games with their vivid imagery fill that deficient need.  Hence, by saying so, they'd be saying that gamers have attention deficit disorder and/or are illiterate, but that's okay, they've justified their improper spacing.

Forget it.  You can't justify it.  You're wrong.  How big of a deal that is, I don't know.  I've made a mountain out of a molehill out of it.  But even if I let this up that doesn't make the wrong spelling/spacing correct.

Anytime you want another rant out of me, say something totally ignorant like "the X in "Mega Man X" means 10" or that "the X in "Final Fantasy X-2" is the letter X" and you'll see me go nuts again.  >_<

I just find it bizarre that people who play video games as a hobby can misspace it, for two major reasons:

1. the Game Boy series of handhelds is the best-selling video game hardware line and has been around for nearly two decades.  This is a Nintendo forum where such an accomplishment shouldn't go unnoticed.

2. people who play video games should inherently be "visual" people and should therefore see the space between the two words.  This is a Nintendo forum where the proper spacing on official Game Boy products should be a common sight to people like us.

Only if the Game Boy was a product made by a company that we weren't fans of, if it was recently released and not best-selling, if the rival, the Game Gear, was spelled "Gamegear", and if our hobby of choice was entirely non-visual and we ourselves are not visual people, I could understand the misspacing.

I mean, if you're too blind to see the space, how can you even play video games?  I may be overdramatic on this point, however, if video games are our hobby, I must by default expect that we are all inherently "visual", and that the majority should be able to space it correctly, rather than the minority.

Then again, I read on CNN.com one time of a blind guy who can kick anybody's ass in Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur.  And he was using a standard setup (no enhanced sound, for example).  I wonder how he does it.  Maybe video games are more than just visual.  I love game music and keep on talking about that Video Games Live concert I went to a couple weeks ago, but that's music.  Not sound.  Are there really enough auditory cues in modern games that I could enjoy them even if I were to lose my sight one day (which I sure hope I never do)?

So if you could hear me, if you are an "aural" person, I'd shout "Game!  Boy!" with a distinct pause in between.

Okay, I'll shut up...for now...

Anyway, there should be Game Boy and Game Boy Color (and Game Gear) games for download on the VC, but not to the Wii, but rather to the DS.  I guess you'd need an official GBA/DS flash cartridge to keep them, though, which sounds unlikely.  >_<

Probably because it makes more sense than the others to have it as a compound word. Plus GameCube has no spaces in between.
Okay, the compoundness makes sense.  But Game Boy was misspaced long before the GameCube.  And I'm pretty sure its rival, Game Gear, was two words.

Anyway, Spak-Spang, which is the greater evil...too many games, or too few games?

While I'm glad about today's releases, I wonder if the well will run dry too soon if this becomes a regular thing.  After the best games all come out (aren't Super Metroid and Punch-Out!! expected soon?), what will keep us interested in the VC in a couple years?  Ideally, if they can get every game, then there will always be something that we haven't played that's available, but since they likely can't get every game, at this rate, all the old games will be old pretty quickly...I mean, old again.  If that makes sense.  And I still don't think possible VC original games will be as good.

I mostly put that there because apparently many (North) American kids were horrified and traumatized at Optimus Prime's death in the film (iconic characters dying in animated films was a new concept in the mid-1980s, I guess), so in the European release, at the end of the credits, it said "OPTIMUS PRIME WILL RETURN" so that the European kids wouldn't be locking themselves in their room for a week like (North) American kids supposedly did.

Someone mentioned the Silent Hill series...but I played the PSX version of Silent Hill long ago (emulated on a PC) and played 2-4 on my PC (3 and 4: The Room both just last year, actually).  I thought I said no PC games!

Then again, I am itching for a horror game.  Something that gets my adrenaline going.

I don't have that itch to get a PS2 anymore (must've been a phase) but if I do, I guess I'll check out the Fatal Frame games as per the suggestions here.

I don't mind turn-based RPGs, BTW, I love them, but I don't like the tactical ones.  You know, like Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, that sort of thing.

And I never thought .hack// was a tie-in.  I could be wrong but I always thought the games and the anime series were developed together, in which case it's not really a "licensed" game in my mind.

Are there fully-working PS2 emulators up yet?  Hey, it's not illegal if I use the actual discs, right?  And if the money is all made on software sales, then Sony should be begging me to buy PlayStation/PS2 games but not their loss-inducing hardware.

Hey!  *kicks the butts of everyone who misses the space in Game Boy*

Seriously, if I were to call the FF game series "Finalfantasy" people would go nuts that I leave out the space.  It's also two words, and has been around just as long.  Or how about something not around as long, like "Killerinstinct" or "Marioparty"?  Looks ridiculous, right?  So how is misspacing Game Boy as "Gameboy" any different?

Well, I hope you people are enjoying your "Kidicarus" and "Kirby'sadventure".  Hey, did you download "Supermarioworld" last week?  Maybe you didn't, because you're too busy with your "Nintendodslite" playing "Hotelduskroom215" or "Phoenixwrightaceattorneyjusticeforall"!  >_<

Actually, since I mentioned "Finalfantasy", that reminds me, when is the original coming out for the "Virtualconsole"?  Or is the GBA game Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn Of Souls (oh, excuse me, "FinalfantasyI&IIdawnofsouls") still selling that we will probably have to wait a long time for it?

The problem with Nintendo gamers is not that they don't buy good games, it's that they REFUSE to see them.
Oh, I see them all right.  GTA on the PC.  I played all the FFs up to VIII without requiring a PlayStation (VII and VIII are on PC, and then I borrowed a PSX for IX, though I could've avoided that too thanks to the ePSXe emulator).  MG and MGS:TS are on Nintendo consoles (and there's also a GBC game), and MGS2: Substance I played on PC.

Though I guess the question is why they aren't predominantly on Nintendo consoles.  In the meantime, Nintendo gamers should also have at least one good PC (like I do).  I support good games on any platform, but I'm not going to shell out money for another console when I can play a version on my PC.  I come off as a Nintendo fanboy, but that doesn't mean I haven't played GTA, MGS, or FF.

The thing is, Nintendo consoles have many more recognizeable and still popular big-name first-party Nintendo games than the PlayStations have Sony games and the Xbox has Microsoft games.  Which is why there are Nintendo fans but most PlayStation and Xbox owners aren't Sony or Microsoft fans.  They just happen to own one of their consoles.  Therefore, many developers may feel intimidated by Nintendo and their games.  After third-party support dropped in the N64 days, it dropped even more when they saw that usually only Nintendo games sold really well.  Stupid spiral of non-support.  You can't blame Nintendo for being good at what they do, and I don't think Nintendo slowing down their own releases or not making them as good is the answer.

I think if developers took the "risk" in making more good games for any demographic for the Wii, that would encourage other developers to make more good games for that whole spectrum as well.

A connection, sure.  Some shared destiny, some fate, you know, some major problem that they would all be involved in preventing.

Connection =/= relation.  "Connection" doesn't even have to equal similar origins...though here we know that it's supposedly something genetic and trackable.  Genetics may make one think that this means something that runs in families, but they've already thrown genetics out the window so they could easily avoid a familial thing.  I can understand split personalities and strength (Nikki/Jessica) and I can suspend my belief a little for regeneration (Claire) but I don't see how genetics can explain seeing the future, control of and teleportation through time and/or space, flying without wings, phasing through solid material, etc. We've already discussed the mangling of science.  I just think a total "family" thing is dumb.  It makes them out to be a group of predetermined special people, not individuals trying to cope with having these powers and finding each other and their purpose.  The "everyman" aspect is what makes this appealing...the whole empathy of the characters and such.  It's advertised with "Are You On The List?", not "These People Are Born Special And That's Why They Have Cool Powers That You Don't."

On a side note, though it's clearly debating the screwed up science...if D.L. can phase with his clothes on, and Hiro can teleport with his clothes on, how come when Claire's clothes rip, they don't regenerate?  >_>  If genes extend to clothes then Nikki/Jessica could wear different things too.  o_0

I don't know why anyone would think Resident Evil was anyone other than Capcom, but I guess to someone unfamiliar to games, it is kind of a step away from the Mega Man and Street Fighter games.

Dead Rising and Lost Planet I have to keep reminding myself that they're by Capcom.  They certainly don't look like Capcom games.  But what does it mean to "look" like a Capcom game?  I guess that's what happens when you play lots of colourful NES-era Mega Man games and Capcom-developed Disney platformers, and even their Super NES-era fighting games were colourful but not ever trying to be realistic.

By the way, what makes Konami "mature"?  Sure, they have Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid, but how come no one ever makes a big deal about Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Sports games, Goemon, etc.?  Yu-Gi-Oh! in particular is really big, but the Konami name seems separate from it.  CastleVania is kind of like Capcom's Street Fighter...not exactly for kids, but some of the games are fairly colourful and often not as bloody as you might think.

(When I got serious about gaming in the NES era, Capcom and Konami were the first two third-party developers I recognized.  They were distinct, and yet looking back on it like I just did there they are kind of similar.  They both are Japanese (if that means anything) and have been around for about as long (or at least I think so).  They have many franchises across a few genres, some long-running and very recognizeable.  They both have "mature games" as well as Saturday morning cartoon fare (literally, in the form of MMBN and Yu-Gi-Oh!).)

I guess this topic is about Capcom, though.  However, I hope their belief that "Nintendo is for kids" isn't as prevalent in other companies.  The Wii will probably get some Yu-Gi-Oh! games, but it will get games like Manhunt 2 if developers will simply do it.  Chicken/egg, as was already mentioned.

Three NES games by Nintendo themselves starring characters popular enough to be in Smash Bros.?  Wow.  Okay, Ice Climbers isn't as good a game as the other two, but still!  How often will we see the VC debut of three Smash Bros. (counting Popo and Nana as one) in three "series" of games in one day?

(Sure, the VC release of SMB introduced just two - Bowser and "Peach" Toadstool (Mario and Luigi were previously in Mario Bros.) and LoZ introduced three - Link, Zelda, and Ganon (if you count Ganon as Ganondorf, but not if you concern yourself with "which" Link and Zelda it is) but besides single games with multiple characters like Mario and Zelda and Pokémon, I mean.)

Today is a good day.

Would be a better day if I had my Wii back so I could buy them...I sent it out to Nintendo of Canada over a week ago for repairs (come on, it's just one province over!) which is why I don't have Super Mario World yet either.  >_<

I must admit, Dead Rising is the one of the only games I'm interested in for the Xbox 360 (well, maybe also Rare's Viva Pinata).

Regardless of Capcom's stance and reasoning, I think that an email response from the "Sr. Director of Strategic Planning & Research" could be a lot better than just being a statement that Nintendo is "for kids".

Then again, I've always valued honesty, even when it's blunt, but if that's how they all think, that's pretty much idiocy.

I love Capcom, and I thought they worked together with Nintendo often...there are the handheld Legend of Zelda games, the RE exclusivity (even if other than RE 0 they are remakes/ports and RE 4 didn't stay exclusive) and the "Capcom 5" (even though one died and three were not exclusive) and...oh, wait, maybe those last two aren't good examples.  >_<

If the Wii continues being a hit, Capcom better devote more resources to Wii games soon.  It's really their loss if they don't get on board now, isn't it?

I said it before...it's a conspiracy!  o_0  Nintendo and Sony may actually be owned/controlled by the same phantom company.  They play "Sony" and "Nintendo" "against each other" in a big act that generates more interest in video games.  Since the PS2 was so far ahead in terms of sales, they deemed that it was time for the so-called Sony to take a really big dive so that Nintendo can have a turn in the spotlight.  After a couple generations, they may mix it up again.
