Honestly, I'm fearing the day when Microsoft starts integrating Kinect into our homes ("smart" homes). For that day Skynet/HAL/ZeroOne/Omnius will be born and it will be the beginning of the end.

I have high hopes, but low expectations. I think when it comes to much anticipated Nintendo events, we would all do well to heed the words of Joshua and keep in mind that hype is "A strange game. The only winning move is not to play."

My mom's a big Tom Hardy fan, and I am too from his work in The Virgin Queen. She's been hyped about Lawless ever since she watched a trailer for it on her laptop.

MK7 is one of those ubiquitous games like Animal Crossing, Brain Age, and Picross 3D that I want on my system constantly because I go back to them for years.  If the saves actually do transfer over, I will be trading in my cart and rebuying this in digital form.

Gah! You just sold me on it!

I'm almost completely done with my playthrough of Super Mario 3D Land, so I can easily resist that one, but... I never bought Mario Kart 7...

I thought they were talking about the development house in charge of PORTING ME3, not BioWare themselves?

Dragon Age 3 or Sonic Chronicles 2.

What makes you say that?

I totally just jumped on the eShop to buy the old version of FreakyForms before this happens in NA.

It actually sounds a little bit like Cat Frenzy, except that you want to maintain a high energy level in order to automatically progress the story?

Oog. Maybe I'll just buy it on PC one of these days as I need to save for the Wii U instead of buy another console.

LOL at Ian trying to create some Nintendo-bias controversy.

Well... since the last Mario game they gave a cover to was Mario 64, that means that they skipped over Sunshine, Galaxy, Galaxy 2, NSMB DS, NSMB Wii, Mario 3D Land, and NSMB2. Considering the relevance of Mario in the videogame world, and the sales numbers, that's a lot of Mario games to have not featured.

I don't speak for the whole staff but it wasn't that we specifically upgraded Trilogy to the exclusion of the NPC games. People were voting for Metroid Prime 3, and in order not to split the vote between two significant SKUs of the game I think we settled on saying that in this special case it would be represented by Trilogy.

Even if we hadn't disallowed the other NPC games, I seriously doubt that there would've been enough staff making it a priority to vote for them that it'd matter.

@_@ Is it really that big a deal?

You just belittled a good 6+ hours of what my friends and I did with Mario 64 back in the day!

I enjoyed doing that in Super Mario 64, too, but that wasn't IT.  If that was the whole game, Super Mario 64 would be really lame.

Agreed. Thankfully it wasn't. And I'm not of the opinion that Wii Sports, or Wii Sports Resort, were like that either.

I think a cheap Wii is a good solution for a lot of people. I just don't think it's the only solution, or a perfect one.

To me these Wii Series games are like if Super Mario 64 was JUST the castle and you could run around it and that's it.  Make fun from that.

T-T

You just belittled a good 6+ hours of what my friends and I did with Mario 64 back in the day!

Next you'll tell me that our hours playing "Kart Tag" on those same Castle grounds in Mario Kart 64 wasn't a valid gaming experience either!

The isalnd has featured in Wii Fit, Pilotwings Resort and Mario 3D Kart. I like that place and would enjoy returning to it in future games.

My favorite use of WuHu Island is "jogging" through it in Wii Fit.

The SNES was able to catch up with the Genesis even though it came out two years late wasn't it?

Aztec swords just aren't the same... :'(

In some ways they are superior to metal swords. Against an opponent wearing armor they would probably shatter, but against raw flesh obsidian blades are better because they are much sharper than any metal blade could ever be. You can hack off limbs and decapitate your opponents with minimal effort. They also don't rust the way a typical iron/steel sword would.

They sound really ideal for an Eternal Darkness game...

Are you trying to sell us tablets and phones? Other than your first sentence, 95% of your post has nothing to do with the next Xbox and is only related because MS is involved somewhere by branding everything "Xbox".

I think Microsoft is going to have some serious pricing advantages. I think they are going to have a not only an on-contract model like they do with the current xbox at multiple retailers, but Cable carriers may offer the 720 as a choice as a cable box as well.
Not sure what you are getting at here. Under Kytim's scenario MS doesn't have a price advantage. In your scenario the only thing "Cheaper" is the take home sticker price, but anyone with half a brain knows at the end of the day such deals are more expensive. Also the cable offerings is very US centric. It means nothing outside of North America.

The average consumer doesn't givea **** about if its more expensive in the end. If they did the US carrier bussiness wouldn't be as anti-consumer as it is. Apparnetly the program of on contract xboxs have been doing good in the west coast testing market.

I really hope this "contract" plan won't become the only way to buy an Xbox (or any game console). I'd hate to be forced into paying an Xbox Live subscription just to own an Xbox.

I doubt it would be the only way to own an XBox. For example, you can buy the latest iPhone right now without needing to sign up for a 2-year contract. It'll just cost you anywhere from 649 to 849 US Dollars.

I thought that what that picture shows is a prototype that still requires its GamePad or Wii U Pro Controller to be wired?

Wow, that's TWICE the launch sales of the 3DS Hatsune Miku game that released there last March!

...is there any chance of the 3DS one coming to the states? Any chance at all? T-T

Is it me, or are there moments in that trailer that suggest that platform type gameplay is involved here? Hmm... sort of reminds me of Beetle Adventure Racing a teensy bit...

I want the Zelda series going all Samurai about it too.

What if the Zelda series took a more Aztec oriented direction?

Haha, I'd support that!

Actually I only meant "samurai' in the sense that it related to archery... though judging by these Hungarian YouTube videos I've found, it probably doesn't need to be a specifically Japanese inspiration. I'd just LOVE for archery to take a more prominent role both on foot and on horse.

Also, you should be able to cut out your opponents still beating hearts with an obsidian knife

*has the sudden urge to give Link a crysknife*
