Apparently, you can pre-order the UNBUNDLED system at Walmart.com for regular price if you have the right link, but you have to be willing to depend on Walmart honoring those orders and have to risk slow snail mail shipping when they do (allegedly, the same thing happened for the 360 at launch?).

Oh... I'm not sure if Walmart wants to charge you full price now instead of when it ships. If so that's pretty unappealing...

Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper (first game to be confirmed to support 2 GamePads)

I'm still looking for a link to this information. Can you help me out?

Breath of Fire would be pretty awesome  to have Nintendo and Capcom bring back as exclusive. Maybe the Darksiders franchise as well if that series falls on hard times.

1254
For reference, in Japan the individual GamePad's will be priced at 13,440 yen (approx. US $172) and are presumably on sale at launch.

Maybe you want to change your guess Shaymin? &P

I don't think there are any you should avoid, except for maybe holding off on the "Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth" spinoff until you've played the mainline games.

I honestly think that I enjoyed the first game the most, and I also felt the intro case it had was pretty good at teaching you the basics (unlike the much tougher intro case on 4, in my opinion). And the DS release also happens to be very meaty with 5 cases: the original 4 plus a special bonus one that really does a great job wrapping things together.

Aside from that, every fan has their opinions on 2, 3, and 4, but I think they are all enjoyable enough once you realize you like the game's structure and genre that I don't see why you can't play them in order (my preference) or out-of-order or whatever.

2.  If the Wii U was a console that had a more attractive lineup of new and exclusive games, I don't think the reaction from that niche audience would have been nearly as virulent because most of those folks would probably be buying a Wii U anyway.

Put like that I think it makes Bayonetta 2 look like a good first step to Nintendo reaching out because the people who aren't already planning to buy a Wii U are EXACTLY the audience they will need to work the hardest to grab the attention of.

There.  Now hopefully THIS post won't need a Would Have Been Posted, If Not For Kairon tag.   ;)

Wow, I just noticed... no composite cables included! Non HD TV owners will need to buy some extra cables...

This brings me back to the days when I needed to buy RF Adapters for my N64 and GC... *sighs wistfully*

Pretty sure Wii cables (non-HDMI) will work with the WiiU.

Ah, that's a good point. Thanks!

In the meantime, someone who actually wants the damn thing can enjoy it for Christmas instead.

I support this line of thinking. Actually, it was my exact approach to the 3DS launch. (Ambassador program finally made me change my mind five months later and I'm glad I did!)

Update: My friend preordered a black Wii U in-store at a Toys R Us yesterday and I've seen anecdotal reports of people doing the same thing in-store today as well.

There's nothing on that deluxe set graphic touting the Deluxe Download promotion.

Huh! Madden at launch but NOT FIFA? I'm definitely receiving mixed signals on some of these games regarding whether or not they'll make launch day.

Also confirmed the first title to use dual Gamepads (Orochi Musou 2 Hyper ) hense why the Japanese is getting the seperate purchasing option for the Gamepads.  The game won't hit the US this year, so sometime next year I'm guessing you'll be able to purchase a second Gamepad.

Link?

Sounds like we'll have to wait for next years Madden for two GamePad support.

Last I heard Toys R Us and Best Buy were still accepting pre-orders, but I'm not sure what the current situation is regarding store vs. online, and if my information is out of date.

Are there any places that absolutely have NOT opened pre-orders? Either online or in-person?

I looked at the WalMart one and it's not bad if you're in the market for an extra Wiimote Plus. [Edit: Actually, since games are not $60 the WalMart bundle doesn't charge you anything extra at all, they just force you to buy more]

And if Nintendo's in the mood for financing a few more "canned" projects maybe they should talk with Ubisoft about Beyond Good and Evil 2--hey, I can DREAM can't I?

Maybe they can save Shunmue 3...?

1269
Let's not forget that the Wii U's price also accounts for the GamePad. Remove that cost, and consoles with ordinary controllers might have much more room to allocate to raw system power.

Nintendo has been quietly producing Wii U systems since 2011 so I'm sure in terms of supply they have enough.

I don't think that's the case. The rumors are that they've been tweaking the hardware all the way right up into Summer, and that the actual full Wii U machines are only getting fully assembled now.

What are Nintendo's chances of still maintaining third party support with the Wii U in say about 2014 or 15 when its real competition comes out?

You mean 2013?

Honestly, we'll just have to wait and find out. I think there's so many different ways things could play out, and as a hardened Nintendo fan, the first scenarios that come to mind are likely on the pessimistic side...

Who exactly does Nintendo expect to buy the White version? I wanted a White Wii U but the Deluxe bundle simply has way too many ridiculous savings and extras that I can't for the life of me bring myself to NOT pre-order the black version!
