Nintendo Gaming / RE: Super Smash Bros. Brawl

I think the fact that it would look out of place is the point!  It would be great to have young link be "CEL-DA", or even have a WW based stage.

Tetra's Ship as a level, anyone?

All these realistic, non cel-shaded characters running around a cel shaded environment would be pretty awesome, I say.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Metroid...at launch!
« on: May 12, 2006, 04:50:34 PM »
Erm...Having Zelda at launch isn't that big of a deal.  We should've been playing it BEFORE the Wii launched. The whole "both versions come out the day of the launch" kinda nullifies the whole "TP will be a Gamecube game".  If the Wiimote control scheme is so superior, then why bother?

However, I will agree that Metroid Prime 3 at launch = sex.

I really hope they implement some sort of standard controls...I'm sure the stylus control works just fine, but I prefer a d-pad, thank you.

NWR Feedback / RE: Official New Site Bug List
« on: May 08, 2006, 01:51:28 PM »
I have a strange problem.  I tried to click on the news link about the new Final Fantasy III screenshots, and it gave me a small dialogue box that said "Invalid User: IP Logged" and an OK button.

So...I dunno why its being logged, or whats up, but...bug reported?

And...yeah.  Where is my IP being logged to?

==EDIT==
Of course, as soon as I make a post its fixed.  I am still curious as to the message, though.

Just got a look at the new Superman Returns trailer...and I must say, it looks positively great.  Kevin Spacey does a very good Lex Luthor, and the fact they left in the original score just goes to show how much of a sequel to the original movies this really is.

I am so gonna watch this.

Sweet.  I have the original trilogy on some old, old video cassettes, so I was always reticent to watch them, for fear they would break or something.

This is just awesome.

I dunno...aside from the words similarity to urination, I kinda like it.  It looks good.  Its simple.  I like the play on the pronoun, and the byline on their press release was just awesome.

Still.  Urination.  Not good.

I wonder if they will try to change the "spam the field and win" bug for the Disney version.

I'd buy it solely for that.

As far as I can remember, I've only ever had two nightmares, and oddly enough they have both been grounded firmly in reality.  One was me going on a killing spree, and getting carted off to jail (I had the "Oh shi-, I'm going to jail cause I killed people and I'm never getting out" feeling) and another one where I nearly watched my father get crushed by a piece of machinery on an oilrig where he worked, and I was all "Oh no oh no oh no", but right before I jerked awake in horror, I saw him roll out from the otherside of it, throw his hardhat on the ground and start cursing at the operator.

If I've had any more, then I must have blocked them out.

Anyways, whaddya think of the control scheme?

I think it sucks.

I do too.  I even hated it in the dream

A portent of things to come?

Maybe, if you take it less literally. It could mean that there will be several ways for you to accomplish the same goal in the future. Or maybe the control scheme, with one action reduntantly tied to several buttons, is indictive of the fact that one game (Zelda) is reduntantly tied to several neural pathways in your brain. In other words, you could be thinking about Zelda too much.

Actually, I've had my brain on other things.  Mainly the two Jim Butcher novels about to be released and Hellblazer.  So I was weirded out cause I've been kinda not thinking about the fact that Zelda might not come out til October.

And when I said portent, I meant "The future of the Zelda franchise", not for me personally.

JEEZ.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What do you want in Smash Bros. Revolution?
« on: April 23, 2006, 10:19:33 PM »
They SO did not shaft the larger characters.  Its a treat to watch someone who knows how to play them.  The "heaviest" character I typically play is Samus, but still.

And, Falco is faster than Fox, yo.

At least, I was always under that impression.

And while there are alot of worthy Sega characters, Sonic is The Sega Character.  It was never "Mario and Earl", or "Mario and Alex Kidd".  It was always "Mario and Sonic", and who better to put in SSBMOnline than The Sega Character.

I'm pretty happy.  Sega was my brand of choice before Nintendo, so this is just muy awesome.

« on: April 23, 2006, 10:58:36 AM »
Nah...I could easily see Sonic's kinds of moves.  He'd have to be the fastest character in the game, and I'm talking faster than Falco, on the verge of uncontrollably fast.  He'd be a smaller character....spin dash would be his smash attack...with stuff like throwing rings as projectiles and being able to roll into a ball that can do damage.  I'm having trouble working out how to work Super Sonic into, aside from if they have character specific powerups.

I have and always will maintain that they need to make an Epic 2D Sonic for a console...I'm talking hundreds of massive levels and such.

Get the team that made Sonic Rush to do it, and you'd have Sex in videogame form.

It was kinda wierd.  I had just picked up TP, and I started playing it.  And then I realized "Oh shi-, I have Zelda." and got all excited.

Anyways, then the gameplay started, and it was...wierd.  LIke, it wasn't just "hit A to swing", but when you entered combat, each button was mapped to a different sword stroke, i.e. A was thrust, B was downward swing, X was up and to the left, and Y was up and to the right.

Of course, when I woke up, I was all disappointed, but it was still really cool having that "I finally have Zelda" feeling in my dream.

Anyways, whaddya think of the control scheme?  A portent of things to come? Or just dream logic?

Erm...the main reason Sonic Team started sucking is because they replaced pretty much everybody, including Yuji Naka.

Also, Sammy sucks and I hope they all get horrible hives.

Oh shi-

This is pretty awesome.  Not only do we get some Castlevania goodness, but we more than likley get to kill Nazi's too.

One thing I don't like the sound of is the "hot swapping" between the characters...that means (to me) that there will be those silly puzzles where you have to split up.

Still.  Awesome.
