I did this a few times too. I hope next time Nintendo gives a horse to Link that the player doesn't have to press the "A" button every four seconds. It makes horse riding into chore and I end up pressing the A button rapidly because I am too lazy to time my button presses. Either Epona needs to stay faster for longer periods of time, or Nintendo should ditch the carrot/spur system.

I have journeyed to the far corners of the Internet, and the general consensus is that this is Sonic's last hope. In a way, I am nervous to see such a close release date. I want this game to succeed--I really do. Like pap, I hope this release date is based on the current state of the game (finished), not used to fill some hole in Sega's current profits.

Virtual Console games might be a pain to restore too. I think you have to contact Nintendo about a re-download, although I am not 100% clear how it works.

I don't think that is true. I have known about the Warp Zones for as long as I have been playing the game (10+ years) and it has never stood in the way of me having fun. I recently sat down and played SMB from start to finish (no warping) and had a good time doing so. The point is, people would discover the Warp Zones, say "oh cool", and then proceed to play through the rest of the game because they want to see it all. At least that's what I would do...

You forgot to validate user input resulting in a pathetically huge potential for buffer overflow.

(This must stop.)

From what I have heard, the resolution is increased so the game appears sharper overall. 480p is probably supported too.

I hate it when that happens.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: game boy advance freezing up
« on: January 28, 2007, 07:31:01 AM »
I have encountered this type of problem before. If you turn on a GameBoy Advance without a game, the logo appears and the system just sits there. Sometimes on my GameBoy Advance SP, the cartridge wouldn't quite "connect" with the system and the system acted like no game was inserted. The solution: Turn off the system, remove the cartridge, reinsert the cartridge, and try again.

Yes, the Wii can be used to play 480p GameCube games (from what I've heard). You will still have to manually tell the games to do so, however (normally by holding the B button at start).

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii've Gone Crazy
« on: January 28, 2007, 05:37:32 AM »
The only problem I sometimes have is channels taking a long time to load. The Wii just sits there with a black screen and my controllers are unresponsive. This is a pretty rare problem for me, so I don't really mind it. The Wii is probably working on something in the background that the channel needs (e.g., getting updated weather).

I might take that crown for semi-regulars (I am 15). Semi-regulars are well-known members who never get Funhouse threads made in their (dis)honor and do not have a personality that everyone recognizes. We are the scum of the Earth. We roam the forums, feeding on scraps left behind by more important members and hoping to find our place in the sun. Just when we start to gain acceptance, Pro666 rushes in and says "AHAHA WHAT A LOAD OF PHAIL =D", then we begin our meager existence anew.

Edit: Oh, and happy birthday!

When I first got the game, it definitely got me excited. After I finished it completely, I have not touched it since. On the other hand, tonight I just spent over an hour beating the Super Mario Bros. (the All-Stars version) from start to finish. I have been playing SMB since I was four or five years old, but I still come back to the classics for a quality gaming fix.

New Super Mario Bros. will never reach that classic status with me. That being said, I really hope they revisit the concept of a Mario sidescroller but leave development open to new ideas that drive the series forward.

RSS is braindead easy and very low-bandwidth and seems to mesh 100% with the entire concept for WiiConnect24. This is the typically stuborn Nintendo only allowing their own content (or content they've approved) onto their own systems.

The Internet Channel begs to differ. Nintendo has a 100% open (i.e., uncensored) web browser on their system that allows completely unapproved material to reach your living room. Heck, people have used it to view pornography even. That's right: porn on a Nintendo system.

Nintendo may be in lock-down mode with online gaming, but not with the Wii Channels. I wish there was an RSS option, but I don't think it was taken out to "protect" the kids. It simply wasn't put in there.

Exactly.  Why else do you think they supported the Cube? *swish*

Well if to be in the process of dying means to near one's death, then everything--GameCube included--is technically dying since birth. That point is moot.

Also, the GameCube would gain them more respect in Japan than, say, the Xbox would. Therefore, choosing to release games on the Cube shows an increased love of money than releasing them on the Xbox.

CAPCOM LOVES MONEYS =D

Ok, I have a dual boot system and use Windows 2000 for homework and multimedia, but I use NetBSD for fun stuff (nerd stuff) and day-to-day use. During school breaks, I rarely have any reason to use Windows at all. Of course, if I was a gamer or into multimedia, I would be using Windows (or even Linux) more often.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:When will the GameCube drop in value?
« on: January 25, 2007, 11:36:51 AM »
I need to get a GameBoy Player. I still have my early 2002 GameCube (complete with digital-out port), but with the Wii I really don't have much use for it anymore. That won't stop me from keeping it around, however. I got fed up with selling gaming stuff only to regret it later, so I just decided I'm not going to do it anymore.

Anyway, a GameBoy player would be nice.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Memory Block conversion tool
« on: January 24, 2007, 01:31:46 PM »
I think a pie chart would be a nice way to go, with optional block/MB/MiB values for those who want them. I am fine with Nintendo using blocks as units, but they should tell us somewhere exactly how many bytes are in a block so we have to run through these types of calculations.

Edit: Plus I want to know exactly how much of my flash memory or SD card is availible for use. That is, if I have a 2GB SD card, how much of that is going toward game saves? In the end, it might just be better to leave these types of details out for interface simplicity.

I used ReiserFS for while in the past. I corrupted the partition during a resize (or something like that), but was able to restore some of my data. Apparently, there were mechanisms in place where I could have restored everything to working order, but I was stupid and issued a command that pretty much made recovery impossible. [off-topic]
