I would rather likely never find an old game I want than absolutely never find it.  If a retro machine only plays new re-releases of old games then a whole bunch of cult classics will just plain NEVER be playable on it.  While I think re-releases should happen I for one don't want to have to wait around for re-releases of Tecmo Pro Wrestling and Trog that are never going to come.  The option to play old carts should be there so I can play any NES, SNES or N64 game I want regardless of how obscure it is.  If it's just going to be re-releases well then what's the point since the GBA is pretty much used for that already.

Well I understand how a lot of games wouldn't be remade, but wouldn't somebody who found those old games have the system to play them on?  Wouldn't it be correct to assume that whoever has the game, already has the system for it?  I'm just in favour remakes, I guess, because no stores or anyone sell old games where I live.

This sounds like a math question to me.

I wouldn't mind seeing an enemy having wounds or cuts.  But making them splatter when you slice them would just be overkill.  Make them look blood-hungry, but don't make them spray the screen.

As for the Cel-Shading, if they want to bring Adult Link back into series, then they won't be able to do cel shading.  The two just don't mix.  Try imagining cel shaded adult link.  It wouldn't work.

Just to add to what Ian Sane said, I think the commercials should focus on one thing: coolness factor.  Don't bother reminding us that there's a new game in a series; Nintendo fans will have already known that for a year, and the mainstream will just see it as dumb.  That's why they have to make the game look like 'the coolest thing ever'.  Show the best movies in the game, make it look better than anything before, just don't leave any doubt in the mainstream gamer's mind that he/she MUST get it.  They don't understand 'interesting concepts' or 'creative style', they either think of things as 'cool' or 'not cool'.

Yes!  This is exactly what Nintendo should be doing.  In case you don't understand me, I'm talking about building hype.  Many people are speculating as to what the mystery is, so by leaving all these hints, and talking about how cool it's going to be.  As long as they don't let us down (which can be easy if they overhype) then they'll be going in a good direction.

I personnaly think that Nintendo should focus a lot on nostalgia.  What I mean is many more characters, levels, and unlockables.  Imagine being able to choose from 100 different characters, each having their own level and special weapons.

The problem with 3 slots, as I've said before, is that you likely won't be able to find all the old games you want.  Sure, they could reproduce those games on the original carts, but what kind of sense is there in that?  You would be wasting money making games on 3 different mediums, whereas having one disc or card would make things that much more simpler.  I love the idea of entire series being put onto a cart.  If it even had some extras, like those on DVDs, you could have some pretty kick-ass compilations.  Just imagine all the games in a series fully reproduced on one cart.  Zelda, FF, Mario, Kirby, DK, Star Fox, Sonic (Yeah, even SONIC!).

I don't understand the partnership either.  Nintendo has demonstrated that they are capable of  maintaining their success in that market, without any outside help.

I'm talking about the tower that you need the 7 crystals to open.  I wish I could describe the area, but it's been so long since I played the game.  I still have it, so maybe I'll play it again.  The only thing I can remember is that it shows up on the map, but I don't think that any other rooms were connected to it.  (I could be completely wrong).  I also seem to get the feeling that you could see an opening from the room, or something, while you ran up a bridge (which probably broke).  I think the opening was on the left side of the bridge.  This is from 10 years ago, so I could be completely wrong, though.

I've got a differnent question.  In the tower before the end of the game (NOT the Pyramid), there's a room that shows up on the map, but is inaccessable, to my knowledge.  Does anyone know about this?  I could be wrong, but I remember about 10 years ago a friend was trying to get into the room, but decided it was just plain impossible.

I prefer Yoshi with King Boo in the Boo Pipes.  That combo has worked beautifully for me.

Actually, I think we're quite far away from 'true' VR.  What I mean by that is that there is no helmet, no screen.  You do not use your body senses to play the game.  Rather, the game is created in your brain, through brain waves, so that that in no way you can doubt that it's real.  You think it's real, you react mentally as if it's real, but your body does nothing.  You are actually afraid of dying, because you don't know it's not real.  That's my vision, something that wont' be achievable in the next 75 years.

Yeah, there's a difference between keeping a game easy and intuitive, and just making plain old dumb simple.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: what confirmed info on N5 is there?
« on: January 09, 2004, 05:22:41 PM »
No, not to my knowledge.  Just that it will be released Late 2005 -  Early 2006, and before PS3.   I also heard that companies who've received developper kits say that the specs are comparable to the competition.  Could be false, though.

General Gaming / RE: N64 worse than GC...but better?
« on: January 05, 2004, 10:04:50 AM »
I think the reason some people here feel that N64 was worse than GC, but better, is because of the games.  I believe that every GC sequels to N64 games are better.  Yes WW, SMS, Mario Spinoffs are ALL BETTER.  But the reason you don't feel so 'satisfied' (for lack of a better word) is because they aren't as much of an improvement compared to the N64's improvements.  We're basically talking about going from 2D to 3D.  Nowadays, you can't make a leap anywhere close to the scale, but it doesn't mean that improvements haven't been made.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: 3rd Party Purchase, way to go
« on: January 05, 2004, 09:53:15 AM »
I agree that Nintendo should leave some Mature games to 3 parties.  But, I think they should get 2nd parties to do the same, except exclusively.   Nintendo should definitely invest in 3rd parties, otherwise they won't bother developping for their system.

Well, since you had to bring it up, I guess you should know better.   I guess you've never heard of Deep Blue, a supercomputer, which back in 1997, defeated World Chess Champion Gary Kasparov.

Here is proof

And even if it hadn't been capable of beating Kasparov, it still would've taken you to school.

I have a crazy idea:  Maybe its 3D Projection?  Imagine Mario jumping around all over your bedroom!   Although unlikely, I was talking to the Engineer-In-Residence at my school last year and he said that creation of this technology has just started.  Personally, I think this is more likely than VR.
