Nintendo Gaming / RE:Is Animal crossing for everyone?

I have a feeling that she'll like AC.  I find that The Sims just gets boring too quickly, even compared to AC.

What difference do you think there is?  We have to wait after Japan gets the title, so...

Ian:  I think you're quite right.  Almost anyone who says that they could've done a better job on a book/movie/song/game, can't.  People just don't realize how tough it is to be wholy creative and to execute.  The level of skill needed is tremendous.

Would he really be bastardized though?  I'm really suggesting they make him more like he used to be on the NES and SNES:  Silent and with more universal appeal.  In my opinion the "whee-hee" Mario that debuted in Super Mario 64 is a bastardized Mario.  The "real" Mario hasn't been seen since Super Mario RPG.

Bob Hoskins is the 'real' Mario.  'Nuff said!

This game's coming out in March now, right?  I remember when it was supposed to be out by September... then October... then late December... then mid January... then mid February... then March.  This game does exist, right?

"Could compete with you"?  If you're talking about 4 player races, then anyone who can hold the A button down can compete with you.  That's how MK is designed - so that anyone can win, despite skill, or lack thereof (to a certain extent).  But if you mean time trial, then I think I could compete with you.  I'm pretty good.

I'd like to get one, but I don't have much use for one.  I have a GBA SP and only 2 games (Golden Sun 2, Harvest Moon FOMT).  And I can just play the originals  of those remakes (Mario, Zelda) on my SNES, with my SNES controller.

Yeah, I mean you could drive around endlessly in DKR, so in reality, GTA is not very innovative at all.  And about innovative games:  I believe that they do sell pretty well in Japan, but don't outside of Japan.  I guess it's just cultural differences...

I think you've been slightly misled.  The sales of GC in Europe do not compare to those in N.A.  Frankly and arguably, GC is having trouble in Europe (mainly U.K.).  Why do you worry about the Nintendo Europe site?  All Nintendo sites (other than Japan, to my knowledge) are terrible sources for information.  That's why we're here.

However, compared to most other games, it is a masterpiece, but compared to other Zelda titles (OoT, LTTP), it is utter crap. The game is great, but has noticeable flaws. They are so obvious. Too short. Too easy. Lack of dungeons. Not really Zelda. Doesn't compare to OoT at ALL. I did not feel challenged ONCE through the entire game. I am shocked to see so many of you think of this one of their favorite games of all time. This game is probably inferior to pretty much all of the other Zeldas. tWW was inferior to OoT in every way.

In conclusion, tWW is a good game and worth playing, but c'mon- it DID NOT live up to OoT at all. I used to think this was one of the best, until I saw how incredibly short it was, and how it didn't live up to OoT at all. You have to have a pretty small gaming repertoire to think this is one of the best. There are LOTS of greater games out there, alot which are probably overlooked.

I am not trying to negate anybodys opinion, but c'mon. The faults are so obvious. No game is perfect, but this game lacked any sort of magic that other Zelda games had. OoT is just a beautiful and emotional game, with lots of great places and dungeons, and is widely considered to be the greatest video game ever! Wind Waker is merely a good game, and is loaded with faults.

That is my 2 cents.

For some reason I get the idea that Oot was your first Zelda game.  I could be completely wrong, but that's the impression I get.  I have to disagree that Oot is better than WW in every aspect.  WW, in my opinion, has much more fluent graphics, and in turn, more realism.  Yeah, it's a 'cartoon'.  But, there's a difference between having stylized graphics, and graphics that try to imitate realism, but with little success.  Secondly, WW controlled better than Oot, in my opinion, again.   Several times I found Oot to be kind of clumsy, but I'll admit it was great for its time.  But, no matter what, WW definitely controls better, no question.  Frankly, I know many will disagree with me, but I prefer to 'compare' Zelda games to LttP, rather than Oot.  In my opinion,  it is the 'perfect' Zelda game.  I think the story, play mechanics, graphics, and length/organization is the best it can be.  In all honesty, I can not think of any possible improvements for the game, it was just that close to perfection.  But of course, some will disaggree, but that's ok.

No, not WW... no, just no.   But anyways, I had an idea of connecting GBA together and basically running through a maze trying to find the other players... sort of like that Pac Man thing on GC.

« on: January 17, 2004, 04:23:06 PM »
Yeah, the N64 games were pretty freakin' fun.  Diddy Kong Racing is still one of my most favourite racing games, if not the most.  Perfect Dark has yet to be matched in style and sublety, perhaps only Metroid Prime could put up a contest.  The thing I like the most though, is that I can go and play any of my N64 games, and still have tons of fun for weeks.  In fact, I think I'll go play a little HM64 now.

I don't understand how you think they had similar styles.  Haven't you seen the Dark World?  Arguably, that style never made into WW, and that accounts for at least 70% of LttP.  To me, LttP was much more 'darker', in style and story, and in my opinion, the darkest of all Zelda games.

No one said it was impossible!  I assume you saw the movie.  Even if the guy 'cheated', it is still completely possible to do what he did, in a single try.

Yeah, but having millions more gamecubes sold in N.A. certainly make it the top priority.
