WALMART and TOYS R US and AMAZON), which is by no means an accurate picture.
Mario Kart is actually outselling GTA, considering that they do not count the DS Mario Kart bundle as a sale of the game, and that is a pretty hot item that has sold as well as the Game itself, I reckon.
EDIT: Oh and the NPD has this disgusting habit of ranking things in terms of how much revenue is generated over how much the game actually sold. Which means GBA and DS games have to sell 33% more just to even get ranked alongside Console/PSP titles.
Just remember that alot, and I mean alot of sales came from online sales this year(Amazon.com, Toysrus.com, walmart.com, etc,etc.). Supposedly online sales were up 30% or something like that from last year, so expect NPD to become less and less accurate.
And also if MK DS & GTA LCS were to both sell 250,000, GTA would be ranked higher because GTA cost $50 while MK cost $30.
p.s. Deguello, I am agreeing with what you said and adding in my own say on the topic
