Nintendo Gaming / RE: Release?
« on: June 22, 2004, 03:53:29 AM »
"Well, as I've heard it, the GBA has no "sound processor". So the first Castlevania ran everything off the main CPU. But for the second game, they decided to use the included GBC CPU as a makeshift "sound processor", so that the GBA's main CPU could focus on other things."

So what you are getting at is that the GBA technically has dual processors. Which now that I think about it is a great move, having the sound be run of the GBC processor, and the graphics off the GBA, and if used correctly could yeild some great results.

Wow, that's pretty crazy. And having the teacher resume class is even crazier.

Well, that's a shame, I was under the impression that it would play all Gameboy games.

"Actually, good Reverend, the DS is backwards compatible with only the GBA games...apparently, GB and GBC type games wont be compatible...at least out of the box. Maybe a peripheral will be released that will allow that functionality."

I don't want to seem like a jerk but I don't remember that being said do you have a link or something. I just thought that all the Gameboy games would work.

" I didn't ever read the manual, I just found it.... Who reads manuals anymore??"

Took me 20 minutes to figure out how to save in Zelda. By then I just read the manual, and found out that's it's not something most people would think of. You have press press Start, then hold up on the control pad and press Select. When I finally did it, I was like what the hell?

"What's with this "you need the official cable" BS? I got a third party gold-plated SCART cable for 4 Euros. Don't remember the manufacturer."

As far as I know Nintendo is the only one that makes and sells a Component Cable for GameCube. At least in North America.

"#41 is We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel"

Well, I am a big fan of this song, but considering Billy Joel said himself that he didn't really like the song I guess I can understand why it is on the list.

I think it is a big scam, but now that I have just found out that Circuit City is selling them for 14.99 on Weds. with a free Mario T-Shirt, I might just go out and get one of the games.

Yea, my Best Buy here is Mass. has them for 17.99 which isn't as bad as 20.00, but it's still alittle high.

General Gaming / RE:Sony's Cell processor
« on: May 28, 2004, 12:10:24 PM »
It's not like only Sony is making a processor that can be put in TV's, DVD players, etc. AMD looks like it is jumping in on the action:

AMD Geode

Very low power use, and relatively high processing power.

And to tell you the truth, I don't think Sony's Cell Processor is going to be anywhere near as great as they make it out to be.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: The inevitable DS vs PSP debate.
« on: May 15, 2004, 04:46:54 AM »
The biggest advantage the DS has over the PSP is the cost. Think about, lets say the cost for the PSP turns out to be around the 400 mark and the DS around 150. I don't think anyone in there right mind would pay 400 for a handheld, for the risk of breaking it, dropping it, etc. At this point in time you can buy all three consoles for the cost of one PSP.

But then again that's just me.

Just in case anyone is intrested: 2 min Zelda Trailer

"When it's all over, we ask to watch it again. And then one more time. And another time still. The extended cut, which shows off never-before-seen areas in the game as well as more of Link's abilities, only reinforces our previous opinion of the anticipated action-adventure. It is, put simply, totally kick ass."

"The entire display knocked our socks off. The Legend of Zelda's new look shook E3 and after seeing more elements of the game in motion we're convinced that it's going to take the franchise to new heights, inside and out."

This video clearly shows more Zelda greatness, too bad we arn't able to see it.

The reason why Nintendo used their version of that song from Conan the Barbarian is cause it's the same music they used in the Zelda Wind Waker trailer at E3 2002.

Well, it was also used in the OoT Trailer shown in movie theaters.

Alright, maybe gypped was the wrong word to use, but it wasn't the The Legend of Zelda's finest hour, if you get what I am saying. It was a good game, that's all good, not great, not amazing just good, and that's how I personally feel. I think Nintendo could have done a much better job with the game.

If that's the case it's going to add to my feeling of being gypped with WW. It's starting to seem like they threw WW out there just to hold us over till the real deal came out.

I really have no doubt now that The Wind Waker was there just to hold us off, although a good game, this one seems like it will wipe the floor with it.

And I think you are completely right to consider that you or all of us got gypped with The Wind Waker.

I think it is one of Nintendo's most clever plots. I mean when they said the next Zelda game would use the Wind Waker engine, we just all assumed that it would be Cel-Shaded, but boy were we wrong.

To me at this point it would be almost useless for GameCube to go online, N5 is where I would put my money for Nintendo to have an online plan. And I also think Nintendo is clearly working on some form of online plan for N5, whether or not it will be brought out at the time of launch is another story.
