It's part of the Silver Star series from Silver Star Japan and Agetec. We already got Silver Star Chess a few weeks ago.

Maybe Atlus has tried to get D:DOC or FF4. Nintendo is very tough on this, they refused to let Atlus localize Mother 3.

General Chat / Billy Mays passes away
« on: June 28, 2009, 02:36:20 PM »
In a week where we already lost Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, celebrity spokesman Billy Mays died in his sleep this morning at age 50. Mays is well known for his beards and booming voice that he used to help sell products like OxiClean and Kaboom. He also has a show on Discovery Channel with fellow pitchman Anthony Sullivan called "Pitchmen". He just appeared on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian" a couple of weeks ago.

I think it's been confirmed that Prince Michael and Paris are not his kids biologically (at least according to a journalist that appeared on "Countdown with Keith Olberman", who said she and many journalists actually know the identity of the biological father). Jackson claimed to be the biological father of Prince Michael II. I don't know if it matters much though since I think Jackson did legally become their parent.

Depends on the jokes. With Jackson, I don't think there is any waiting period for jokes. If a someone universally loved (like Johnny Carson) dies, that is different.

How is Michael Jackson not universally loved?

Michael Jackson the musician might be, a lot of us can't stand Jackson the person. Whether it be the inappropriate interactions with kids (remember that interview with a British reporter where he said he dreamed of sharing his bed with other peoples children?), dangling his third kid over a balcony, or anything else. It was very easy to hate him.

It's never been confirmed that Michael was the biological father of Prince Michael or Paris (the two kids born to his second wife Debbie Rowe) and he has never claimed it. All Michael has said is that they were born the traditional way. His third kid (which he stupidly named Prince Michael II) was conceived by artificial insemination to a unnamed European woman, he claimed the semen was his.

TalkBack / Re: UK Government Chooses PEGI Ratings

I recall Singles being rated AO in the US, it was rated 16 here...

The PEGI rating was 18, the BBFC rating was 18.

There were 2 versions of "Singles: Flirt Up Your Life" released here in the US. There was a censored version that was rated M and released at retail, then there was a uncut version that was rated AO and only sold online.

His kids won't be getting his debt. Besides, his estate owns his entire library plus a pretty large portion of The Beatles library, so that is a lot of royalties coming in (especially now that he is dead, tons of people are buying his music again).

A lot of people are buying his music, 9 of the Top 10 selling albums on iTunes are from Michael Jackson ("The Essential Michael Jackson" being #1) an 6 of the top 10 singles are his (for some reason "Man in the Mirror" is his highest selling song, at #2 on iTunes Top 10 singles), 8 of the top 10 music videos on iTunes are Jacksons ("Thriller" is #1) and he produced/sang on one of the other 2 songs ("We Are the World" by USA for Africa).

It's a private company that owns a bunch of colleges called Everest Institute.

eCoupons is offering $81 for 3 of my books. I definitely am not selling anymore back to my school bookstore, they gave me $2 for my math book.

It wasn't Jackson's worst single, but I think you would agree that it was nowhere near being one of his best.

I think the big shock was that it was Michael Jackson of all people doing this, and that it was after such a peaceful music video that was being watched by many kids (Jackson was so popular at the time that the world premiere of the video was aired in primetime by FOX/MTV/VH1/BET simultaneously and got huge ratings).

Ah, I see...

Is 41% good for a game with such high expectations as this? It didn't even sell half of what it theoretically could have...

As BlacknMild said, it sold 41% of it's first shipment on its FIRST DAY. Not week, day (and a weekday on top of that). That is pretty damn good.

However, I don't see it selling anywhere near 360K on its first week as that would be close to 100%. If 155K is 41%, then that means they shipped 380K copies and I don't see the game being a virtual sellout (although I could see it getting around 300K).

I just listened to "The way you make me feel" for the first time in I don't know how many years, and it just gave my goose bumps all over. Actually watching the video, I have a huge grin on my face watching MJ chase down a lady.

I had that grin when, in the late 90s i believe, he put out that new music video with himself and Chris Tucker and he was chasing after a lady in that too lol..

You Rock My World

I.E. A generic pop song that was the failed attempt at a comeback. It sounded like it was from the 90s (and not in a good way) and nobody believed that a woman would rock Jackons world.

"Billie Jean" is easily his best song IMO, followed by "Beat It", "Smooth Criminal" and "Bad". "Black or White" wasn't bad either.

Podcast Discussion / Re: RetroActive #7 Poll - TurboGrafx Edition!
« on: June 26, 2009, 09:39:06 AM »
I would really like to play Military Madness, but a strategy game just doesn't have a good chance of winning a RetroActive Poll.  It's the least-known of the games (except maybe for Chu Man Fu) and it's a niche genre.  Your vote will be more appreciated if you go with Ninja Spirit.  ;D

Actually, I think most gamers have at least heard of Military Madness. I never even heard of Ninja Spirit or Chew Man Fu before they came out on the VC. I had only briefly heard of the Bonk series before the first game came out on VC. I was aware of the Cho Aniki games.

I will try half.com (maybe Amazon), unfortunately my school uses a lot of custom made books (designed for Corinthian Colleges), which may make it hard to get a good price.

There are 95 WiiWare games now. The only way this game will be the 100th is if we get a combined 5 WiiWare games between Monday's releases and the July 6 releases. It's possible though since Nintendo doesn't always stick us with 1 release per week like they do with Virtual Console.
