General Gaming / Re: PS4 (Orbis) Rumor/Speculation

They won't announce anything involving money at this event.  This will all be about hype and any time you mention money, you lose some of that hype.
...
I have to disagree there.  If Sony came out and showed a console that was just leaps and bounds above the Wii U and then went "Oh, and its only $250"  That would be HUGE hype.

Of course that will never happen since Sony is already losing money severly (to the point that their credit rating has been slashed and their stock price dropped 20%), at $250 they would be losing at least $150 per system. And the rumor I am hearing is that the PS4 will come in two price points of $430 and $530.

TalkBack / Re: Miiverse Functionality for Pikmin 3 and Wii Fit U Detailed

I love the idea of being able to take pics from the Pikmons point of view. If you can do it anytime you want, what about the moment a Pikmin gets electrocuted? Can you do is when a Pikmin dies and their spirit is floating up?

Not sure you should be pointing out you bought a PSP for illegal purposes.

The Wii U version of the game is already finished, Ubisoft admitted that and said the delay was ONLY so they can port it to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Optimus, I remember seeing a buttload of Xbox 360s in that 3 months launch period. Hardly supply constrained. I recall some media outlets saying it was, but every store I went to had plenty.

How are these companies supposed to re-sell you digital versions and "enhanced director's cut" versions of the same games if you're still able to simply load the original up?

Same way studios like Warner Bros. sucker idiots into buying 8 different copies of each Lord of the Rings movie.

TalkBack / Re: Rayman Legends Delayed to September
« on: February 19, 2013, 12:37:47 AM »
People assumed it would be exclusive, but all Ubisoft said was that it was coming to Wii U. I remember even when the game was announced people thought it would get ported to other platforms because of Ubisoft's wording (like never saying the word "exclusive").

1308
People thought Xenoblade and Last Story wouldn't sell. But guess what, they did. RPGs early in a system's life cycle is a great way to go.

Although The Last Story may be the best selling game ever published by Xseed Games, it still only sold 50K copies.

But it's not a demo. They're just giving us the Challenge Mode 5 months before anyone else.

I'll believe it when I see it. Ubisoft can say "exclusive" all they want, nobody believes them anymore.

Ubisoft never said Rayman Legends was gonna be exclusive to Wii U.

Yeah, Pikmin is pretty clearly a RTS game to me. I honestly don't see how it could be called anything else.

At best, it's foolish to think on-disc DLC is the same or better than Xbox Live. At worst, it's moronic. On-disc DLC is content that is part of the game and locked away on purpose. Xbox Live is just optional multiplayer. And the service on Xbox Live is superior to PlayStation Network in terms of service and value (no, I don't consider being able to rent games a great value). You also don't need to worry about non-EA servers on Xbox 360 being taken down. No one is making you play online, nor is it part of the actual game (minus the few MMO's on the system like Final Fantasy XI, although you can play that without a Xbox Live Gold subscription). It's no different than MMOs that charge you a monthly fee to play the game even though you already bought it.

I figure that in order to secure this uber-franchise on their system, Ninty agreed to give some perks to Square-Enix. Like, say, distribution and marketing help in other territories.

Square Enix always puts Dragon Quest on the best selling system, so Nintendo didn't have to do much (although I am sure they loved Nintendo willing to localize it for them).

The Ambassador Program had NOTHING to do with helping the 3DS, it was just Nintendo apologizing to people who bought the 3DS before the price drop (since they dropped the price less than 6 months after launch, and I don't see them dropping the Wii U's price before E3). The price cut + notable new releases helped 3DS. Wii U just needs notable software (or really ANY software right now).

I'm going with it being a flying type. Sylv as the root word leads to sky/wind fairies that are female. Some kind of bird as well.

Your logic makes sense because the French name of Sylveon is "Nymphali", nymphs are female nature deities with Celestial Nymphs being of the five kinds (the others being Water Nymphs, Land Nymphs, Plant Nymphs and Underworld Nymphs).

God no. That game looks so good and I don't want to see it downgraded to 3DS. Besides, I don't think it would control well.

Why don't you think it would control well? The fact that it will almost certainly use buttons for every move means it will control infinitely better than the Wii version.

The game controlled even better on Wii than it did on GameCube. On the 3DS, you will constantly have to move you hand from the touchscreen to the face buttons, the same problem all twin stick games have on 3DS (since even if Nintendo had it support the Control Pad Pro, it would not be mandatory).

Luigi's Mansion looks really solid, there seems to be so much more going on this time around. I'm excited about this one mat of all. When is it releasing, April?

March 24 in North America.

Looking forward to this and I liked the Mario64 face manipulation they used to affect gameplay. This will probably be a holiday release.

The article says it will be a summer release, unless you are predicting a delay

1322
I kind of doubt it will come to the eShop. If I recall, EA said something a while ago about being hesitant to bring their games to the eShop and they will probably just stick to physical copies for a while.

Both Madden NFL 13 and FIFA Soccer 13 are on the eShop.

1323
Haha! If I try to type Mario Kart Seven, It's replaced with Mario 3D Kart!

It only does that if you have the filter turned out.

Take-Two Interactive has officially acquired the WWE license, and will hire the Yuke's employees who worked on the WWE games. Also in the article, a THQ attorney estimates the remaining assets THQ still owns to be about $29 million.

The Dragon Quest game is actually "Warrior's of Eden", not "Fighters of Eden" (Senshitachi translate's to Warrior). But NeoGAF often gets things wrong
