I pre-ordered, but I wasn't sure if the styli were worth it.  I have plenty of promo things already and I wasn't sure if I needed any more just sitting gathering dust...  guess it wouldn't hurt.

before I get the new one, should I delete the old one?  I always thought fresh installs were better than updates?

I heard that 2 was the jump button and 1 would allow you to dash later in the game...

TalkBack / RE:REVIEWS: Sonic and the Secret Rings
« on: March 06, 2007, 04:42:53 AM »
wow, I wish I had had a chance to read this review before the game shipped.  you guys need to get closer to these companies so that you don't have to wait like everyone else to get games...  I heard from all the sites that had either had previous experience with this game or who got it early so they could review it and I doubt if I heard one bad thing about it!  so I bought it, I was excited for it (hell I bought Sonic Adventure 2 for the 'Cube and I actually liked that one).  but now that I have it...  well let just say I feel your pain.  I don't feel like going back to the review and dissecting and analyzing it.  how about this:  if they could get the basics right then the rest of the game should be passable.  well I'm not satisfied with the controls.  it feels like they broke the game and said well ya know the farther you get in the game the more tools we'll give you so you can fix it yourself!  and uh well...  isn't the beginning the part of the gamer where I'm supposed to be drawn in!?  so much for that.  in retrospect I kinda wish I had just rented it first... but then again I am still at the beginning I do plan to play the game farther than that (hoping it gets better all along the way). I'm just a little discouraged at the moment.  being a sonic fan and being that I already spent the money on the game (it's not like I can undo that part) lets just hope I enjoy the rest of the game more than I did the beginning.

TalkBack / RE:Ocarina of Time Coming to US Virtual Console
« on: February 24, 2007, 07:33:28 PM »
Ok so playing Super Mario 64 with some other newer version of a joystick (because the N64 one wasn't so good) does sound appealing.  however a game like Ocarina of Time that uses the C buttons wouldn't be so good with a stick and thats where the N64 controller really shines.

I'd like to see someone release a different Wii remote to go with the Nunchuck, one that could act as an N64 second half...  I mean what if instead of a remote the right half of the Wiimote/Nunchuck duo was just like the nunchuck but instead of having a joystick it was fatter and it had A, B and four C buttons?  or maybe just A, B, X, Y but when you held one of the shoulder buttons A, B, X, Y changed to C up, C down, C left, and D right?  I guess it's not such a good idea because not everyone would have one and no game developer could rely on any one person having one but it could be a nice new option for the VC...

but I thought most people didn't like playing N64 games with either the gamecube or classic controller?

well I already own the game three times, once on the N64, and I have to say I agree that the N64 controller is best for N64 games...

I'm just glad that for the people who don't already own the game multiple times on one system or another (or for some strange reason would like to own it again) they now have the opportunity to purchase and enjoy it like the rest of us have.

it feels nice just getting any support, exclusive wow, that sure has been a rare word to hear for a nintendo console...  and all this love for a little system called Wii

TalkBack / RE:DS Lite Gets a US Release Date
« on: May 04, 2006, 08:02:55 AM »
if I can wait I'd rather hold out until the midnight blue version releases bundled with new super mario, that would be a sweet deal (and paying $150 for that sweet deal wouldn't be a bad thing but I can see how they wouldn't do that seeing as how the higher price tag would drive some people away)...  except seeing as how they only announced the white lite that does kinda make me wonder if they'll not release midnight blue in the states at all, that would make me sad, but in that case I guess a white lite would be okay...

TalkBack / RE:Revolution Name Announced!
« on: April 27, 2006, 09:29:25 AM »
hey I've got a good idea!  someone should write nintendo and tell them that instead of Wii it should be Wiiwii!  that way it'll sound good in french, have at least two syllables, still be simple and instead of looking like you got two people in the name it looks like four!
you thought telling someone that they should totally come by and check your new Wii sounded kinda fun?  well it'll sound even better if it were dubbed Wiiwii instead of dumb ol' simple three lettered Wii!
SERIOUSLY THOUGH NO ONE BETTER EVEN CONSIDER WRITING THEM THAT...  they might like the idea

I still think this is a joke, I mean I know it's way past April Fools day but then again planetgamecube never did come through with a good joke, did they...

am I the only one who's a bit discouraged by these "actual" pictures?  I mean the render was beautiful, I thought that it looked so sweet...  but then I looked at the newest pictures and, I don't know it just doesn't seem as nice.  anyways, it still has this new design and all the new features so I'll still get it when it comes out...  haha, it took me a few moments to realize that little black thing on the side of the system was the stylus...

but you can watch those same files on the DS as well. not to mention the whole idea just adds more possibilities and functionality to the GBA/DS.  seriously how many people out there are excited about the PSP just because you see pics and vids on it??  (it seems that everytime Sony releases a system everyone's more excited about all the other things it can do!)

TalkBack / RE:Sega Unveils New Sonic Game
« on: March 08, 2005, 06:54:26 PM »
I don't know, I for one like the looks of this game.  I mean no one seems to like the gun idea, understandably it doesn't really fit in.  not to mention it seems that shadow mainly only shoots while standing still, I think it would be cool if he could shoot while moving, but then again so many games shy away from that, it must be hard, I guess.  but maybe he can auto aim and shooting would just sort of destroy enemies before he actually runs into them?  that could make the game go faster, kinda like when you have the star power, or whatever it's called, but it's just an idea.  and yes he does look kinda dorky with the big gun jutting out.  I think it would be cool if you didn't see it while he was running, only when he uses it.  maybe he holsters it, or in some way it just dissapears until he needs it (haha, I can just see him putting it in his leg like robocop, not).  I don't know, maybe he doesn't need a gun at all, I can just see him equipping some sort of visor like get up, that shoots on sight!  (kinda like those old water gun toys where you shout "fire!" into the mike to make it work.)  that might look cool.  imagine if you ran in the third person, and have the option of going first person for shooting?  eh, maybe too many ideas to fit into one game, not sure if it's very sonicky (reminds me of Silent Hill 4 where parts of the game are in first person?).
anyways, one more arguement that I have is the graphics and acting.  okay firstly the graphics are fine I like then the way they are, sure they could be better, but they always can, right?  what I think they need to work on more is the acting.  it's really hard to stomach when the voices and lips are way off.  not to mention the acting is very slow at times.  I think if you run the game in japanese the lips match up better.  and I think I've also heard that in japanese the timing is different, some things are slower because of what they're used to?  so it seems that they never quite finish the translation to the american audience, I realize that has nothing to do with the gameplay, but I really enjoy the sonic stories and I wish they would improve that so it wouldn't be so hard to watch (it really scared me when knuckles and sonic go super and hyper, because of the motions they were making with their hands!)

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo DS Colors Announced!
« on: March 02, 2005, 05:33:00 AM »
me?  I think I'll go with white, I've had a thing for white recently, I mean, I've already got a white GBA :-P.  the only thing I don't get is why Nintendo releases different colors along the way?  I mean why not just sell the system at launch with different colors?  I don't have a DS, I haven't been able to get one yet.  but had I already owned one and then heard of these new colors I would have been out of luck because there would be no point in buying another system, I'm not collecting them or anything, I just wanna play with a good color.  pink isn't really my thing, so that's the only color that I'm not really interested in, but blacks cool, whites cool, even silver is cool.  but now that I have a choice in the matter (hoping that I'll have a choice in the matter, hoping that NOA does the same thing!), I'll opt for the white.  this just sux for all those people who didn't have a choice...

ok, so say i'm sold on the GTA thing, which game would you recommend?  I mean I doubt Nintendo will come out with something quite like that (although some sort of Zelda version would be sweet).  and I know there's a simpsons version as well...

I played the original GTA but what I didn't like about it was the controls and the unrealistic 2D over the the top Zelda view.  When they finally brought it into 3D and made it more real feeling I had basically lost interest because of the direction the series was headed: i.e. stuff like the whole killing hookers thing.  So, no, I've never played the newer GTA's but I really wonder what all this opened ended stuff everyone else is talking about.  Does that game really have something in it (besides the orientation to violence) that no other game has!?  I mean is that some way of saying that the game doesn't care what you do?  that it doesn't have missions, goals, objectives or whatever?  no other game has that?  therefore this game is the future of gaming because it does?

TalkBack / RE:Nintendo Plans Major Retail Store in NYC
« on: February 06, 2005, 10:36:38 AM »
haha that would be sweet, I'm drawing parallels between that idea and every flying thing that Bowser has ever created.  but I can't find out any way for them to use an enemy to advertise Nintendo products...  maybe Bowser and Wario worked together to still all of the Mushrooms Kingdoms merchandise and they're selling it for profit?  hmmm, sounds more like a Jesse and James kinda idea.  oh well I can dream, that would be sweet though.  but to be more realistic I was just going to say that they really need to build something like that in L.A.!!!  that would be much more feasible for me at least, I've never been to NYC and don't know when I will be...  maybe I'll find a way when Revolution comes out, I wish...  but seriously if there was something like that in LA I'd be there, with friends!

that's because nfl street is a video game, nfl doesn't like excessive celebration in the real thing.  not sure why, but I heard that players were fined for "celebrating" at all.  though recently I've seen a little dance here and there so I guess they're only fined if it's "excessive"...

« on: December 03, 2004, 09:56:07 AM »
wow...  i can't believe they let this article be posted.  i mean just reading the first paragraph, which was solely about concoles, not nintendo, not sony, not microsoft, but consoles in general, and already I can tell this guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

"You mean people will write software for this box whose hardware hasn't changed since 2001? That's so quaint!"

sounds like he doesn't even care about the game, or the sound, or the control, sounds like all he cares about is the graphics, since thats really all you need new hardware for, hardware that's changed since 2001.  oh and by the way console hardware is made to be explored, and developed, new software and hardware is made to utilize "old" hardware in new ways, do new things and improve graphics.  if that weren't the case then the playstation would have gone no where, I've seen some pretty good graphics on the PSX but i've also seen some of the worst graphics on it as well.  anyways i'm done ranting for now, and I haven't even touched on the obsoleteness of the 'cube, oh well another day.  oh look, i wrote about as much as he did.  can i get back to mp2 now?  I heard it's system is obsolete.
