TalkBack / Re: Epic Mickey 2 Surfaces Once More
« on: December 31, 2011, 09:04:06 PM »
I enjoyed the first Epic Mickey, in spite of its serious flaws, such as the wonky camera and at time obtuse morality system. One major beef I had with the game would be that occasionally you would be dropped into a situation where you had no clue how to solve, and the game sure as hell wasn't gonna tell you... the room late in the game where you confront the Mad Doctor robot, for instance. I struggled for two hours trying to figure out what the hell the game wanted me to do and I finally had to look it up on GameFAQs... and the solution is NOT obvious or intuitive at all, but incredibly stupid and just reeks of poor design. I know the complaint these days is that there is too much hand-holding in modern games, but I'd prefer that rather than hours of frustration.

Uh, sorry, ranted on there. But yeah, like Jaro says, if they focus on making it more of a polished 3D platformer, rather than some morality play, I would totally dig that. But if it's more of the same, I think I'll pass.

It's even easier to do things the way Nintendo likes to and do whatever they feel like, continuity be damned.

This is the same logic which killed Star Trek.

Star Trek is a series of television shows, where the focus is on the story.
Zelda is a series of video games, where the focus is on the gameplay and the story is merely an after thought.

I agree with Insanolord, it's not something to take too terribly seriously, though it is fun to see how people with too much free time on their hands over-react to it. :)

It says something when I hate tower defense games and even I'M interested in this one.

If the eShop allows Nintendo to try out new, fresh ideas and IPs, I'm all for it.

Sounds like the Other M bug all over again. Nintendo's once immaculate record for quality has seen a sharp decline in recent years.

There's also the fact that games have become much more complex over the past decade as well.

Not to say that it excuses this odd bug, but... just sayin'...

I for one am waiting for Nintendo themselves to start pre-orders before I reserve my copy.

Well THAT'S fucking lame! The nearest gamestop to me is 30 miles away!

You could just order it online and have GS ship it to you in the mail.  Just saying.

You know this is no place for that kind of logic!

Because we love the drama.

But I agree with you Mr. Insanolord. Though it's gonna be weird that the next big Mario game may not have his involvement, I look forward to see what little gems Miyamoto comes up with.

Thanks for the tip! Fortunately my living room doesn't get a lot of sunlight, but if I get any wonkiness while playing, I'll know what to try.

This is the first I've ever heard of this game, but after checking out some videos of it in action, I'm actually rather intrigued by it...

Ehh... It still seems to be an optional accessory to me, not a required one.

It'd be hilarious if this never made it to the states... then everyone complaining about it existing would then be complaining that they don't get to have it.  ;D

I certainly hope they spend some time developing a decent camera system this time around. The camera problems in the last one really ruined the game for me.

That's a pity, though I highly doubt this would have any sort of impact on Nintendo's current success. I think they simply decided to put family first and not to put their families through a cross-country move, as it should be.

Rats. Though with the constantly shifting release date, I guess I shoulda seen it coming. Interestingly, Nintendo Power reviewed it months ago...

I wonder what this "compilation" will be...

I thank Reggie.

I've found that when I pray to Reggie, my prayers are answered at about the same 50% ratio as they are when I pray to God. And there are some things Reggie can do that God could never do. For instance, I prayed to God for months to do something about my idiot neighbor and his barking dog, and nothing ever happened. Reggie straightened out that idiot with one visit. It's remarkable what one can do with a simple baseball bat.

The EBA download is lame. Only half the song? I know there are limitations to the downloadable memory of the DS, but still... Boo-urns.

"There are two reasons I haven't bought Battalion Wars. The first is the fact that for whatever reason, it's still fifty friggin' dollars. "

Drop by Best Buy... they've got it marked down to $29.99.

Well, I don't really see why they couldn't release a Cube title into the Wii's lifespan, especially since the Wii is backward compatable. They did it for the PS1 and the PS2.
