I *really* want to be excited about this, but... eh.

I was disappointed that Black/White didn't deviate much from what was established in the previous four generations (Diamond/Pearl, I feel, was pretty much the apex of the series), and I was really hoping these "Version 2" editions would give us something brand new, like a new territory and a storyline that wasn't focused on the old "Earn 8 Badges while fighting an evil organization", but from everything I've read and seen thus far, it's still just more of the same.

My apologies for the paragraph length run-on sentence.

Oh well. Here's to hoping "Gen 6" will bring new life to the franchise.

TalkBack / Re: Just Dance 4 Coming Exclusively to Wii?
« on: April 10, 2012, 09:14:46 PM »
Picked up Just Dance 3 when it was marked down at Best Buy last week. I've been using Dance Dance Revolution as part of my "video game fun time" workout regiment with Wii Fit, but after five or so years, I'd gotten a bit burned out, so I figured it'd be a nice change of pace...

And holy crap. I don't know if I had just gotten used to DDR or what, cause it was quite the workout, leaving me breathless after about four songs... and this is a guy who regularly has 30+ minute DDR sessions on Difficult! I'm guessing it's because I'm using my entire body as compared to just my legs, but I'm enjoying it so far. I may go track down the earlier editions once I burn through this one.

I picked up Triple Trouble, if only to relive the brief period in my childhood when I owned a Game Gear. Easily the best Sonic title on the Game Gear. The music from Sunset Park Act 3 is still one of my all time favorite game tracks.

I had a hard time finding a replacement Wii, only to have someone tell me Nintendo wouldn't sell them anymore. I really don't believe it, such a thing is stupid. It's just like saying 'since we've made a 3DS now, let's stop selling all DS Lites and DSi now' And yet, you can still find them in stores easy.
But of course, with all the stuff leaving the Wii Shop, maybe it is true? I'm glad I got the black Wii while I could :'(

Considering that over 5.5 million Wii consoles were sold last quarter, I doubt they'll be ceasing production anytime soon.

Wow, that's really... weird. I wouldn't have thought the game would have had that big of a following.

Just three levels into the demo and I'm sold... on the gameplay. The art design is a bit off-putting, at least to me, but that's just nitpicking. Count me in on a copy.

... after all, it really wasn't that long ago that analog sticks were the new thing.

No, it WAS long ago.  Almost 16 years ago.  Instinctively it still seems like a recent thing to me but after thinking about it I realize that for over half my life analog sticks have been standard in videogames and I'm 30!  There are 20 year old adults who don't remember a time where analog sticks were not a standard part of videogames!

Thanks for reminding me how old I am. I'm gonna go yell at the neighborhood kids to get off my lawn now.  ;)

I didn't like the Circle Pad at first, but after playing through Mario 3D Land, I'm quite adept to it now. It always take a while to get used to a new form of control... after all, it really wasn't that long ago that analog sticks were the new thing.

During my brief flirtation with Game Gear ownership back in the mid 90s, I seem to recall that Triple Trouble was the best of the Sonic games I had, with Sonic Chaos being merely decent, and Sonic 2 being god-awful.

I may just pick up Triple Trouble, if only for that awesome music that plays during Sunset Park Act 3.

Fatty, that was a rational and well thought out argument.

What's it doing on the internet?  ;)

I actually just started this one last night, after finishing up Skyward Sword this past weekend. I think Ubi's big mistake was releasing this game during the Xmas holidays against some heavy competition. If it had instead released the game in January or February (like most of us probably did), it probably would've done much better. And I agree with Broodwars, a somewhat budget release in the $30-40 range would've spurred sales even more (I know I certainly didn't hesitate to pick it up when TRU dropped it to $20 during last month).

Considering how often Nintendo gets sued, I would say these patent applications are simply just their lawyers covering their asses. I doubt they'd go after anyone who comes up with a similar concept, but lord knows there are plenty of "patent squatters" who would.

TalkBack / Re: Rocksteady Studios Working on TMNT Wii U Game?
« on: January 28, 2012, 07:20:53 AM »
Shame the studios didn't take advantage of the positive response to the animated movie a few years back with a sequel. Or maybe that's a blessing.

From what I've read, Imagi Studios was gearing up to produce a sequel, but the box office failure of Astro Boy pretty much tanked the studio. But yeah, I totally loved the CGI movie, and was so disappointed to learn that the next flick would not only be a reboot, but a return to the clumsy live action costumes...  :(

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Considering Wii U Rebrand
« on: January 26, 2012, 09:01:57 PM »
After having to explain to my sister that the 3DS was basically a "Super DS", a new name is probably a good idea...

Just call it the Wii Stream. The idiotic 8th grade mentality GameFAQs users need their pee jokes.  ;)

Svennson said about the Blue Bomber: "I hesitate to say exactly what [is next for Mega Man], because I don't want people reading more into it than is there, let's just say there are top men thinking about and actively discussing where we're going to take the brand for the next ten years and how we're going to do it."

For some reason, I suddenly have an image in my head of the Mega Man franchise being rolled out to the Capcom warehouse.   ;)

We have top men working on it now...

Hmm, this might make it a day one pick up for me...

Just a side note... has anyone else noticed that the stuff that released in Europe first (and everyone bitched about how much NoA hates gamers) is slowly starting to appear here in the states?

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Has No Plans to Fix Mario 3D Kart Glitch
« on: January 17, 2012, 08:07:46 PM »
Maybe part of the reason why Nintendo refuses to patch it is because if they did it would be an admission that they made a boo boo.

If Nintendo was unwilling to admit when they made a mistake, we'd still be paying $249.99 for a 3DS.

TalkBack / Re: Could WayForward Develop a Future Mega Man Game?
« on: January 09, 2012, 08:32:53 PM »
Metroid Fusion and Metroid: Zero Mission were also horrible because of the input Sakamoto had, and don't even get me started on the abortion that was Super Metroid. Clearly the guy is a hack.

Director's do decline in quality, and some should not be given total free reign over a project. I am not saying he wasn't good before (I loved Zero Mission, and like Fusion), but the problems with Other M were because of Sakamoto and NOT because of Team Ninja.

Sakamoto = George Lucas?

Oddly enough, Kytim, I was just thinking the same thing the other day... that would be an awesome collaboration (and most likely a much better outcome than the LAST Metroid collaboration, which shall not be named). Sadly, I think that has more of a chance of happening than Capcom outsourcing Mega Man.

TalkBack / Re: More Zelda Symphony Concert Dates Announced

I'm only about an hour away from Atlanta, but there are two things keeping me from going...

#1 I'm broke and $45 concert tickets are out of my budget

and #2

There is no way in hell I'm going anywhere near Atlanta.

Not since... last time.....
