I wonder if this is sort of a concession to third parties on the eShop... let's say a third party game (we'll leave out any snide comments about quality control just for the sake of argument) is gearing up to be released on the eShop, the developer is getting excited and what's this? Nintendo decides to drop Wario Land 3 the same week. Which one do you think will be getting more attention?

TalkBack / Re: Pokémon Best Wishes Anime Getting Sequel
« on: May 12, 2012, 06:02:48 PM »
As much as I enjoyed the Diamond/Pearl series (probably the best written story arc Pokemon ever had; btw doodies, Ash was actually pretty competent in that series), I really couldn't get into the Black/White series, especially the way they completely neutered Team Rocket. That and I found Ash's new traveling companions to be rather lame.

I'm sure here in the states the series will still be called Black & White, just with a new inane subtitle tacked onto the end.

"We had NOA handle the localization, and I told them to change the meaning and content as much as they want - that I wanted conversations that sound natural and enjoyable to a native speaker."

And you know, thank God for that. I do find it hilarious when I see threads about people complaining about how Uprising's translated script is not true the original Japanese script and how horrible it is and OMG INTERNET DRAMAAAA.

If you want awkward, stilted dialogue that's directly translated from Japanese, go play Other M.

To be fair, it's a damn good game.

There. Fixed that for ya. Kirby's Block Ball puts all other Breakout clones to shame.

Somehow, I'm not that upset over missing out on Sonic Labyrinth...

« on: May 08, 2012, 07:23:59 PM »
Ideally, each and every GameStop would inspect the books upon trade-in and make sure to keep one book allocated for each game in stock.  But, what's more likely: that actually happening, or people accidentally being sold a game they can't finish and the sh*t storm that would follow?

Didn't stop GameStop from selling me the demo version of Minish Cap as a full game.

Insta-buy. Now to wait for a Regular Show game announcement...

"Man, this looks like a Nintendo 64 game!"

Some people need to go back and actually play some N64 games. I would say, at worst, it looked like an early Gamecube game.

Monster Tale was MUCH more polished than Hatsworth (I gave up on Hatsworth about halfway through, but went through Monster Tale to the end), and it had a better difficulty curve. I wouldn't worry too much.

TalkBack / Re: Is Retro Working on Star Fox Wii U?
« on: May 06, 2012, 04:05:45 PM »
The next Star Fox could be developed by EAD or Retro, be retail or downloadable, I don't care as long as it's closer to what made Star Fox 64 so great, and far away from what made the follow up games so terrible (I'm looking at YOU, Star Fox Command. Burn in hell.).

I just think there's probably a more valid reason for the lack of VC games aside from the usual "NoA hates video gamez" banter. One could be that the USD/Yen exchange rate is rather low, and NCL is holding off until things improve. Or, it could be something that improves the service, such as patched Super Gameboy/GBC support for the older games, that NoA is simply waiting on to be finished just to avoid any sort of server stress of people downloading the patches en masse. Or it could be some other issue that's holding them back.

Problem is, we really don't know what the answer is, since Nintendo is historically frustratingly tight-lipped about their inner workings, but I seriously doubt it's part of some evil plot by Reggie to hate upon Nintendo fans.

And I understand where NinSage is coming from. It's kind of frustrating to visit Nintendo news/fan sites, only to find a majority of the community bitching and complaining. But that's when I turn off the computer and go play some damn video games. :)

I think I'd rather have a eShop version of that Perfect Strangers game that popped up on the web this week...

I'd be more surprised if Retro City Rampage is EVER released... it was announced what, four, five years ago?

Hell, the Gamecube game technically had DLC if you count the e-Reader...

I'm still chalking up the 3DS launch to poor decision making due to pressure from investors. Still glad to see Nintendo correcting the mistakes surrounding the launch.

Agreed. Nintendo shouldn't be listening to people who are telling them that they need to put Mario games on iOS.

Prediction... Dragon Quest X will be a Wii U launch title.

Wow. Totally didn't see that coming. Still buying the retail copy though. Physical Media FOR LIFE!

I continue to be amused by the analysts who are trying to bully Nintendo into releasing Mario games on iOS. I'm guess there is no I.Q. test involved when you become a market analyst. :D

With something like Animal Crossing, where you are really only expected to spend maybe ten minutes a day playing it, it's a pretty good idea.

I somewhat enjoy that a game that many people wanted to be released is being released, and it generates so much negativity, since God forbid Europe gets it first... it really restores my faith in mankind's ability to be cynical and bitter no matter what.

I think we're getting this so late because Nintendo of America was holding it to come out shortly before Pikmin 3, but Pikmin 3 kept getting delayed.

That's probably the most logical conclusion, especially if Pikmin 3 was originally slated for the Wii.

I've actually never played a Pikmin game, despite owning both of the Gamecube versions. Maybe this will give me an excuse to finally dive into the series.

Somewhere in Japan, there are angry nerds on the internet complaining that NoJ is butchering the translation of the Just Dance games.

Unclebob wins for whining about the most insignificant Nintendo thing in 2012. Contest is over folks.

Oh, c'mon, you have to wait at *least* until after E3, I'm sure there'll be even more insignificant things to bitch about then.

Oh and, yay for folders! Of course, my menu isn't even close to half filled up, but it's nice to have the option now.

I'm slowly playing through Uprising, and though there is definately a learning curve to the ground camera controls, I'm still loving it. I love that the game doesn't take itself very seriously, and has a very light-hearted feel to it... I think a lot of other series should take note, quite honestly.

I agree with Mr. Mop, SSBB, while I still enjoyed it, felt oddly "gritty" to me. A bright, cel-shaded sequel would be awesome!
