TalkBack / Nintendo's Earnings Forecasts
« on: April 08, 2003, 04:04:38 AM »
Th1$ me@n$ th@t n0w N1ntend0 will have to make g@mez fer Micro$oft n0w! T000 bad!

Feh. Who cares. When you have games like Zelda and Mario to play with, who cares if you're in first place or last place. I'm a Red Sox fan, but do I care that they will probably never win the World Series? No.

I think it's stupid of people to keep saying we need more "Mature" titles. Exactly what do you mean by, "Mature"? A game with blood n' guts, running over people with cars and boobies? Yeah, THAT's what I'd call "Mature". They should probably come up with an "Immature" rating. I've been playing through The Wind Waker, and that game is easily more "Mature" than anything Rockstar could pull out of their butts.

And I am so sick of people complaining that Nintendo makes their games too easy. Just six months ago, the same people were complaining that Mario Sunshine was tooo hard, and now they're complaining that Zelda is tooo easy. It's like you're just looking for something to gripe about.

Sorry, if I seems so crabby, but I just woke up...

Why would Nintendo do that when they can sell us "Advance" versions of the games for thirty bucks a pop?

Nope. You're boned.
Unless you can find some sucker friend to sell it off too...
Did you accidentally buy some Titus or Acclaim crap? You should know better than that...

Nintendo Gaming / MS taking a marketing cue from Nintendo?
« on: April 04, 2003, 02:43:35 PM »
I've got two friends who are thinking about entering that contest, and I think they would WIN. Seriously, they got some bonus disc that had a video of some Halo tournament featuring top players around the country, and my friends just sat there and CRITICIZED the people who were winning. They play that game so much it's scary. Plus they sit in the break room and talk about their last play sessions like veterans talking about the last war. From what they told me about the contest, you actually go and compete with other players in a huge LAN battle.

Nintendo should have a game tourney like that featuring Pokemon again, or even better, Smash Bros. That would be sweet.

The Tingle Tuner in Wind Waker is a good way to go with co-op modes. You don't need it to get through the game, but if you happen to have a friend watching you, he can help out a little instead of sitting there watching you play.
Co-op in adventure games would be a pain, since you would either have a split screen (yuk), have the screen scroll along with both characters (which would probably result in some glitchy camera movements or have a LAN connection with two systems and TVs.

Remember, this is the same company that brought us such 'gems' as Turok Evolution and BMX XXX.

You can open up some fun extras and allow a second player to join in using the GBA, but it's not necessary and doesn't detract from the overall game experience. I'm not using the Tingle connection now; I'll probably wait until I complete the game, then see what extras I can unlock.
Oh, and in case you've been living under a rock, Ocarina of Time was released on a special Gamecube disc. You could only get it if your pre-ordered Wind Waker, but if you're lucky, you might find a copy for cheap on eBay, or if you're VERY lucky, you might find a store that still has a copy or two.

Also check out Wal-Mart. I work there, and we got these huge cardboard boxes of the Wind Waker near the entrance. Ask the guy in the Electronics dept., and if he's not a complete dimwit, he would probably save it for ya, since they usually throw it out anyway. Sadly, I don't have anywhere in my current house to put something like that... I had to miss out on the huge Pokemon R/S posters they had a few weeks ago.

Huh?

The voice acting and graphics were the best part of the game in my opinon. Everything else was kind of watered down. With SFA, I actually went DAYS without touching it between play sessions, and I'm the kind of person who almost always plays a game almost daily until I've finished it. It just didn't have a soul to it.
SPOILER ALERT!
The biggest downer for me towards the end was that you never did get to fight General Scales. They built him up as this big bad villan that you wanted to take down at the end of it all, and he ends up getting killed by Andross (and the Andross battle was just a half-hearted rippoff of the end battle of SF64.) The item collecting also got to me too, as well as the button mashing contests.
Still, I did have some fun out of it... but I probably won't ever go back and play through it again.

As for my opinion of Rare, they did some excellent stuff at the end of the SNES period and early in the N64's life. But towards the end of it all, especially with DK64 and Perfect Dark, it just seemed like they were less worried about the soul of the game and more about how it looked. Kind of how George Lucas did great with the original Star Wars trilogy, but his new movies are all about how good they look, and not concerned about how bad the script is. I hope Rare does have more sucess on the Xbox, but the only game after SFA that I was interested in was DK Racing.

Nintendo Gaming / SSB3!! IS IT IN THE WORKS?
« on: March 27, 2003, 03:03:30 PM »
The only way they would be able to improve SSB is to do a crossover with another gaming company, like Sega or Namco, sort of like the feature IGN did a couple of months ago.
If they didn't do that, they would have to drastically change the formula to make it not seem like just a rehash.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube's casing
« on: March 25, 2003, 09:58:41 AM »
Yeah. Nintendo makes shoddy products. Like when I dropped my old Gameboy down a flight of stairs... TWICE... and still works perfectly to this day. Or the countless times I've flung my N64 controller across the room against the wall after losing another race against that stupid canary in Banjo-Tooie and it still functions just fine...
Yeah, Nintendo sucks.

1141
I'm not embarrased to pick up Pokemon, and I'm 23. I've been following them since they were previewed in Nintendo Power as a "possible" import to America. I've got all the games (even that lame ass Hey You Pikachu, which was fun for about five minutes; good thing I bought it for ten bucks) and I collected the cards up to the e-series, at which point I decided there were just too many. I watch the toon regularly and my copy of Sapphire will probably be welded into my GBA for the next several months.
I honestly don't care what people think. My friends know I'm a Poke-maniac, and they don't give me much grief over it (aside from the occasional "Pikachu must die" joke). Besides, they can't say much... a few of them like "Veggietales"...

Nintendo Gaming / Still Smashing?

I play it by myself occasionally. It's hard to convince my friends to play with me, because they're all about co-op Halo...

Rats. Someone already did the Pokemon joke I was going to do.

I would love to see a Simpsons game... that DIDN'T SUCK. The only one that didn't stink was the arcade game.

Nope. I've got 253 trophies, all characters and all but three stages, but I've only opened 29 of the 51 event stages. I know I will never get all the trophies, since one involves getting through the entire game without getting hit ONCE.

Niftyness! If I can ever FIND a copy of Legends around here, I'm gonna try it out. I'm not too much into RPGs, but Legends looks pretty interesting.

Nintendo Gaming / WW Link Bobblehead?
« on: March 13, 2003, 03:45:54 PM »
Okay, I read Rick's report on visiting the Nintendo production facility, and it was good and all, but the second to last picture on the last page caught my eye. In the glass case he took a photo of, there was...a Wind Waker Link bobble head! Are those on the market yet? Has anyone seen them for sale anywhere? Having my Samus bobblehead and a Link bobblehead on each side of my cube would look so sweet...

Nintendo Gaming / Next Starfox Game Discussion
« on: March 04, 2003, 03:47:09 PM »
Is Armada the official title of the next game, cause I always thought it was a name the press gave it. I dunno. Either way, as long as it lives up to Star Fox 64, and doesn't bring back any painful memories of the terrible Arwing levels of SFA, I'll be happy.

Nintendo Gaming / have you ever been so bored with AC
« on: March 04, 2003, 03:44:37 PM »
I played it almost every day since September until I got my loan paid off in January, so now I've been skipping a day or two between visits. It does get a little tedious, but that's why I play other video games too. Currently, I'm just trying to get a handle on fishing.
