Nintendo Gaming / Prime vs. Windwaker
« on: April 27, 2003, 06:11:03 PM »
They are both vastly different games, so trying to compare the two is pointless. The only thing they have in common is that they are both excellent.

Nintendo Gaming / Mario Kart Discussion (TALK ABOUT MARIO KART HERE)
« on: April 24, 2003, 04:40:20 AM »
God, I am so sick of this crap! Six screens of a game in development are released, and you've already passed judgement on this game! What are you, Game Informer?
I remember listening to this same kind of crap for a year after the first screens of the cel-shaded Zelda was released. For a year, no matter which BBS I went to there was always a 20 page long thread entitled "Kiddy ZeLdA Suxxors!!1". Then when people actually got to play the game they said "Yeah, you know, this isn't actually that bad. I like it!" The same thing happened with Paper Mario and countless other games.
And you know if they had made the game exactly like previous editions, there would be people complaining about how it hasn't changed.
In the immortal words of Cartman: "Stop yer bitchin!"

I know that with Halo there is a sort of limited way to play on-line through the LAN feature, but you could only play through a local server. I'm not sure exactly how though.

Nintendo Gaming / Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron III CONFIRMED
« on: April 22, 2003, 10:42:40 AM »
Whoops! I read EGM in the store the other day, but I never even thought to look for the RSIII shots. I was too busy groaning at the idiocy of some of their reviews.

Nintendo Gaming / Digimon on GC??
« on: April 22, 2003, 04:06:35 AM »
I know a Digimon game was released for the GBA, so it's not out of the question for one to be released on the cube. There have been tons of Pokemon clones on Nintendo systems (Monster Rancher, Dragon Warrior Monsters) and I don't think Nintendo would feel that their Pokemon are that threatened by Digimon...

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube Rentals
« on: April 21, 2003, 05:28:34 PM »
The only video store within 35 miles of my house rents PS2 and Xbox games, but not Gamecube games. When I asked them why they didn't rent Cube games, they replied that the Gamecube only has a dozen or so titles, so it wouldn't be worth their time to even buy them. I haven't been back since, though I have considered printing out a list of available cube games and plastering their windows with copies in the middle of the night...

Nintendo Gaming / Will buy a toasted Gamecube for $10 + shipping
« on: April 21, 2003, 04:00:23 AM »
Huh, *I* thought it was kinda funny. It's actually a pretty cool idea; I once made a bank out of a broken NES system. You could also put a potted plant in it as well, or fill it up with water and put a fish in it.
Hey, we're always saying that the PS2 would be better served as a cupholder, so why can't we pick on our own system a bit?
Still, I don't think you'll be able to get one for only ten bucks when they could just send it off and get it fixed for less than the price of a new cube.

Nintendo Gaming / Has anyone seen the new Game Informer?
« on: April 20, 2003, 02:07:57 PM »
Funny how they can review a game that won't even be complete until June at the earliest. Probably the reason I don't read Game Informer.
Billy, kick their asses!

Good luck, Billy, and God speed.
Ever since I found it, PGC has quickly become my favorite gaming site, even surpassing IGN.
I never bothered to read Game Informer before, but now I guess I'll be picking up a few issues.

Nintendo Gaming / If you missed out on the Zelda bonus disc...
« on: April 17, 2003, 02:01:57 PM »
... you should be checking out the used games shops. I was just in GameStop today, and they had the bonus disc on sale for $19.95. Even though I thought that was a bit expensive for what is in essense a free demo disc, it's much cheaper than those guys on eBay selling them for upwards of $70...

Nintendo Gaming / GCN Demo Disc Revealed!

Nifty! I hope they will sell it for five to ten bucks like the PS2 or Xbox demo discs, for those of us who already own a cube.

Nintendo Gaming / cleaning the sp's screen, need help
« on: April 16, 2003, 03:31:57 AM »
I think a lot of people use a 100% cotton cloth, like a tee shirt, to clean their screen.

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon Box
« on: April 15, 2003, 11:49:16 AM »
It looks... well, interesting, to say the least. I'm not sure if I would buy it, unless it happens to also unlock the "unavailable" Pokemon in the GBA games... The IGN article also said "Add on to the adventure"... maybe it will unlock some new sidequests as well...
I'll say this though... I bought the Pokemon Stadium games soley for the much simpler box and backpack storage interface rather than the complicated and confusing interface of R/B/Y/G/S/C. Now that R/S have drastically improved the organization interface, I really see no need for such an add on, unless you actually have the patience to capture 1500 Pokemon...
There HAS to be something bigger in the works. Perhaps this is a red herring for those 10 year olds who keep writing in each week "I whant PokeyMhon on GamECubeh!!!1"

1117
Grey Ninja, I think most people would agree with you. I almost cried during the ending too. But I think everyone, including me, was mostly disappointed because the game was finally over. Kind of like when you're watching a very good movie, when the end credits start to roll, you just wish there was more.

Nintendo Gaming / Random thoughts on WW (few minor spoilers)
« on: April 11, 2003, 05:59:56 PM »
That sad girl could use some color in her life.

I just ignore the possible "2nd world" chat and just figure everything is on the same timeline. As for the Wind Waker, the King of Hyrule told Link and Zelda to go out and find a place to call their own. That's what I think the Hyrule in the other games turn out to be. And that might be what the next Zelda game will be, if they continue the story on Gamecube, Link and Zelda setting out to find a new Hyrule.
This Gannondorf is probably toast now, though just like there are different Links and Zeldas, doesn't mean there can't be a different Gannondorf. Same with the Master Sword. Just because that one is buried under the ocean now, doesn't mean another can't be forged and infused with the power of the gods.
I dunno, just my two cents. I finally beat the game a little while ago, and it's pretty much all I can think of right now.

Nintendo Gaming / When did you realize... (Major spoilers)
« on: April 11, 2003, 05:43:20 PM »
I kinda accidentally figured it out before the game was released. I looked at a picture of Tetra, then a picture of Zelda and I thought they looked a little alike... oops.
I'm thinking most people realized it when they saw the portrait of Zelda and some guards... guards who looked just like the pirates... on the wall in Hyrule Castle.

Nintendo Gaming / Nokia N-Gage v.s Game Boy Advance SP
« on: April 10, 2003, 04:48:06 PM »
The GBA SP, no contest. When I read that you have to unscrew the back cover, then the battery just to swap out games, I just laughed.
If only Nintendo could have this kind of stranglehold in the console market...

Nintendo Gaming / damn Dust under SP screen!!
« on: April 10, 2003, 04:44:42 PM »
Dust is evil. I likes to hide in the cracks next to the screen, then slowly wiggle its way under. I've been keeping mine in the original plastic wrapper until I can get a nice case so dust won't eek it's way in.
Am I being paranoid about this... or am I just stoned?

Nintendo Gaming / Scratched GBASP!!
« on: April 10, 2003, 04:42:40 PM »
Buy a case for it, or, as I've done, keep it in it's original plastic wrapper while you have it in your pocket. I've done this both to keep it from scratching and to keep dust out. I always got dust from my pockets in my GBC screen.

Nintendo Gaming / pokemon r/s = brilliant!
« on: April 10, 2003, 04:41:22 PM »
I think it's an excellent upgrade to the series, providing plenty of tweaks that G/S were missing. The new Pokemon PC Storage System is so much better than the older versions. No more saving when switching boxes!
I've had it since launch, but I've only gotten my 3rd badge, which is excuseable, since the only time I really play it these days is during my breaks at work.

Let's hope the DVD release of this one isn't as crap-tastic as 4Ever (read: 5 better be in widescreen)
