Nintendo Gaming / Futurama
« on: September 12, 2004, 09:38:33 AM »
I know the Futurama game wasn't released on the Cube here in the states, but I remember some talk about it being released for the Cube in Europe. Any PAL gamers know for sure, and if you do, any idea how I can get my mitts on a copy?

Nintendo Gaming / Symphonia Grade?
« on: September 10, 2004, 03:57:29 PM »
Okay, does anybody understand about the Grade system in Tales of Symphonia? I know it depends on how you perform in a battle, but I'll do the same things and get different grades. I'm talking big differences, once I got 2.45 GP and another I only got like 0.04 GP. Once I got NEGATIVE Grade! How is that possible?
If anyone could enlighten me, I'd appreciate it, especially since GameFAQs appears to be down for the count.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo's latest Cube commercials
« on: August 23, 2004, 03:28:02 AM »
Has anyone seen Nintendo's latest commercials for the Cube. I saw one last night while watching South Park and it was actually pretty good, advertising games a few months before release and showing a decent amount of gameplay footage. It showed three games, Bateon Kaitos, Goldeneye and Metroid Prime 2. In each case, it showed a couple of shots of one person, gave them a title (in Metroid's case, "Bounty Hunter") and then showed gameplay footage along with the game title, then at the end of the commercial, asked "Who Are You"? A pretty stylish ad, especially compared to the "councelor" one that showed up earlier this year. You can watch it here

Edit: They've also got another version featuring games like Star Fox, Paper Mario 2 and Pikmin 2.

Nintendo Gaming / Mega Man Collection Packaging
« on: August 16, 2004, 09:18:37 AM »
The cover on my copy of the Mega Man Anniversary Collection has Dr. Wily flying behind Mega Man in one of his skull hover cart thingies, but when I went to the store earlier this week, all the copies had him replaced with an orange circle proclaiming "10 Game In One". It wasn't a sticker, because I investigated it as closely as I could without ripping off the plastic wrap, it was printed onto the paper.
Which version do you have? I'm just curious if this is a new thing, or if it was like this at release.

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon: More Differences?
« on: August 14, 2004, 11:51:20 AM »
I'm a big Poke-fan, and I've pumped in hundreds of hours over the years to both the portable and console games featuring these creatures.
But the "Two Versions of the same game" theme has always bugged me. It's kinda lame that the only differences between two versions is that they have a few exclusive Pokemon. That was okay for Red and Blue, but it's getting kind of old. Granted, R/S put in different baddies, but that still isn't enough. I think Nintendo needs to raise the stakes more for the next generation...

*Different Pokemon/Baddies - They've already done this, so I'm not going to get into these.
*Different main characters - The option to choose a male or female character is great, but an even better option is to have each version have completely different male and female characters. Perhaps even have one version with older looking characters, to appeal to us who have been with the series since 1998.
* Different layouts - The layout of the game would be completely different from one version to the next, a completely different land.
* Different Gyms - Here's a biggie... have each game have exclusive gyms and gym leaders. You can even use the wireless link to jump into another version, challenge the gym leader and get that badge added to your collection as well!
* Different side quests and mini-games - Perhaps in one version you have to escape a sinking ship while fighting off a bunch of Gyarados, while in the other version you have to solve a dungeon puzzle. On a side note of that, I'd like to see puzzles that incorperate your Pokemon. Like a door that's on fire, you'd need to have a Water Pokemon that knows a water type attack to get by.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but feel free to add some more!

Nintendo Gaming / TOS Commercial
« on: July 26, 2004, 04:47:25 PM »
Anyone here seen a commercial for the game that's currently taking up a huge chunk of my time? Just curious if Namco is pushing any TV ads for the game (not that it really needs it, it's sold out everywhere near where I live)

Nintendo Gaming / It's official...

Discuss. Personally, I think the boxart looks lame compared to Japan's, plus twenty bucks a cart? No thanks. But I am tempted to pick up that SP...

NWR Feedback / Very annoying Popup
« on: March 25, 2004, 04:20:53 AM »
I've come across a very annoying pop-up these past few weeks, and it only shows up when I visit Planet Gamecube. It's a small pop up that asks "Do you want to Run IE Browser Enhancer?". I click Cancel but it just pops right back up and won't let me shuffle it to the background or operate any browser windows, and usually results in me having to go to the CTRL+ALT+DEL window and shut down ALL my browsers. It's really getting annoying, especially when I'm in the middle of an article. I'm pretty sure it's not my ISP because this is the only website it pops up on.

Nintendo Gaming / Critic's Choice?
« on: March 05, 2004, 12:20:21 PM »
I was at work today, putting up the latest shipment of Gamecube games. As I put up some restock of Mario Sunshine, I looked at the row of Player's Choice titles and thought to myself, "I wonder why they don't make a series for undersold, yet brilliant games?" You know, games that, despite how good they are, they either can't sell or are overshadowed by other games.
My idea of such a series, it would be similar to the Player's Choice titles, but with a silver strip along the top that says "Critic's Choice". The price would also be dropped to the 20-30 dollar range, similar to the PC titles.
Box Art Concept
I think it would be a great idea for excellent games to get some time in the sun. It could also catch the eyes of some casual gamers if a holographic silver was used in the top banner. Games like Eternal Darkness, Beyond Good and Evil and Skies of Arcadia Legends could have a second chance to find an audience.
What do you guys think? And what other games do you think would benefit?

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo: Out of Gamecubes?
« on: February 20, 2004, 11:55:22 AM »
Forgive me if this is old news, and if so, feel free to mock me openly.

We recently ran out of stock  on Gamecubes at the Wal-Mart I worked at, and when we scanned in the UPC code to order more, we found out it had been deleted from the warehouse. Well, today we found out the reason why. Nintendo has simply run out of Gamecubes! So, it's gonna be at least a month before we get more in.
So it's basically good news that Nintendo has sold so many cubes, but bad news if people who haven't gotten one that want one can't get one.

Nintendo Gaming / Patch for Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire Bug
« on: January 27, 2004, 03:15:07 AM »
We all know that our copies of R/S will stop growing berries after the first year of playing. I was reading Nintendo Power yesterday and it had a article about the bonus disc you get when you pre-order Pokemon Colluseum. Well, it mentioned something they hadn't said anything about yet. Apparently, when you download Jirachi into your game, it also downloads a patch to fix the bug.

Nintendo Gaming / Thought about online...
« on: December 20, 2003, 10:24:03 AM »
I've been reading a bit about EA's struggle with The Sims Online, in which they are dealing with lots of people performing illicit acts for real money and the like, and it hit me. That might be the reason Nintendo is reluctant to get into the Online game, because of all the creeps and weirdos out there. I mean, I wouldn't want to be playing Pokemon Online or Animal Crossing Online and be constantly barraged by people wanting to sell me sex or something worse. I mean, it would be possible for Nintendo to monitor what goes down online, but let's face it, they couldn't catch everything.
Anyway, your thoughts?

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon Colusseum Pre-order bonus revealed
« on: December 18, 2003, 05:22:19 PM »
http://www.nintendo.com/newsarticle?articleid=c60a6fd6-dc03-4ed1-9ad6-89f4f6265452&page=other

According to the site, preordering Pokemon Colosseum gets you a demo disc that has a preview of Pokemon Colusseum, a preview of Pokemon: Wish Maker (Movie 6), and a GBA download that lets you download Jirachi into your Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire game.

Supposedly there are going to be other features on the disc to be announced later.

According to IGN, Sonic Heroes will debut on the cube on January 5th, three weeks before the game launches on Xbox and PS2 on January 27th.

Nintendo Gaming / New detail about Pokemon Channel...
« on: November 10, 2003, 11:57:53 AM »
I found the final box art of the game over at Amazon.com and apparently the game is compatable with the eReader, and the game itself comes with three "Pokemon Channel e-Reader Cards". There's no details about what the cards actually DO, though.
Oh, and the game is going to retail for $29.99. Sorry if that's old news, but I thought I'd throw it in.

Nintendo Gaming / 1080 graphics > SSX3 and Amped 2 graphics?
« on: November 04, 2003, 11:55:27 AM »
The last couple of days, I've been reading a strange rumor buzzing around message boards and websites and the like, saying that 1080 has pulled what they called a "Metroid Prime" in which the final product blows away the previous builds. From what I've read they make it sound like the final version of 1080 Avalanche will make the recent demo version look like the N64 version... which would really be astounding.
Has anyone else heard about this? I'm sure it's just a stupid rumor, but...

Nintendo Gaming / I hate people... (GC related)
« on: October 14, 2003, 05:43:43 PM »
Everyone knows that Best Buy had recently posted Skies of Arcadia Legends on their website for a mere 9.99. I ordered mine last night, but I got an email this morning saying it was backordered and it would be shipping later this month... if they get it back in stock. I think, no problem, I was planning on putting it aside to play later on anyway. That is, until I got on the IGN boards and found out that people were buying 20, 30 copies of the game to sell on ebay for 40 bucks each! That pisses me off. It's fine with me if you want to buy an extra copy or two to sell on the side, but THIRTY copies? That's just greedy. I just hope it all backfires in their faces and they won't be able to sell them on eBay.

Nintendo Gaming / Just got Super Mario 3...
« on: October 14, 2003, 05:12:13 PM »
...a WEEK early! I saw it at Wal-Mart today and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get it before the official launch. The only thing I can say that hasn't been said is that my copy had SEVEN e-Cards instead of just two that was reported earlier.
Anyway, go check your local Wal-Marts and see if they've got it in too.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamestop.com and Soul Calibur 2...
« on: August 26, 2003, 04:04:43 PM »
Has anyone else pre-ordered SC2 from Gamestop.com? I did back in July, and today I found out my order is on hold because SC2 is "back-ordered". I mean, seriously, why did I bother pre-ordering it almost two months early? And it's not that I don't mind waiting for it, but now I'm worried I might not get the art book, which I was looking forward to checking out.
Has anyone gotten their copy from GS.com yet?

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube only $99 after September?
« on: August 15, 2003, 06:06:52 PM »
Just read in IGN's Mailbag that the Gamecube will indeed drop to $99 after next month. Which would make sense, since Nintendo has stated it wants to burn off it's current inventory...
So where does that leave the GBA SP? Will it drop as well, since it wouldn't look right to have a portable system the same price as a full fledged console? And, will this price drop still include the free game?

Nintendo Gaming / Videos at Mario-Golf.com
« on: August 09, 2003, 02:22:24 PM »
Okay, has anybody seen the "Toadstool Tour Today" videos on mario-golf.com? I guess it's a spoof on those golf reports on ESPN or something, but it's pretty damn funny. It reminds me of those campy videos Nintendo used to send out to Nintendo Power subscribers. Anyway, check 'em out!

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo's June 2003 In Store Demo Disc
« on: June 09, 2003, 03:40:02 PM »
My store just got the new demo disc in today, and lo and behold, it actually has more than two games on it!

Demos:
Soul Caliber 2 (Same as Preview Disc)
Sonic Adventure DX (Same as Preview Disc)
P.N. 03
Ultimate Muscle
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour

New Movies:
Gameboy Player
Soul Caliber 2
Mario Golf
Mega Man Transmission
The Hulk
The Matrix Reloaded
Wario World
NCAA 2004
ESRB Movie

Pretty nifty disc. P.N. 03 didn't seem so hot to me though, but I liked Mario Golf, despite the fact I sucked at it.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention, but Nintendo seems to have gotten rid of the time limit for the demos, as one of my friends played Ultimate Muscle for over half an hour.

General Chat / CD Japan?
« on: May 20, 2003, 04:50:58 PM »
I'm about to order the Wind Waker soundtrack from them, since they have a pretty good price on it, but I'm hesitant about giving a site I've never used before my credit card number.
Is it pretty trustworthy? Has anyone ever ordered from them?
