Nintendo Gaming / RE:Wind Waker 2
« on: December 27, 2003, 12:04:11 PM »
You know, if there is a fourth piece, it technically wouldn't be the Triforce anymore...  It would have to be the quadra-force  I guess.  That would mess up a lot of the stuff that has already happened, too.  The Desert Colossus was in OOT, right.  That's the first game chronologically, so why would this fourth piece appear now, nine games later?  We've already seen the Triforce in some of the games (aLttP, OOT, WW) and they'd need to find a fourth 'owner' of the new piece.  Who would honestly take the Quadra-force of Destruction? (Besides Ganondorf, but he's already got a piece so he doesn't count.)  I think the last thing Shiggie would allow in his 'most beloved series' would be a new Triforcve piece.  Well, that and Link with a hangover.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy Rocks!!!

Hey has anybody else played Sphinx all the way through yet?   There's something really bugging me now..
I was looking through my back issues of Game Informer, and I found where they did a feature article on Sphinx.  They talk about Sphinx being able to transorm into 'The Wrath of Ra".  I never had that ability in the game.  They also talk about a 'gorgeous' jungle level that I definetly never saw.  Did I miss something here, or did this game lose some potentially big stuff before its release?

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Transformers Armada - Comin To The Cube??

You know, I've never seen the new Transformers Armada TV show.  Is that the anime one?  If it is, I can see why you say it ruined the Transformers.  I REFUSE to watch that show.  I fell in love with the original Transformers Saturday morning cartoon.  Then Beast Wars came along, and though it was different, it was cool.  (It was kinda cheap though; Optimus Prime became Optimus Primal)  There was another that came out that was like a sequel to Beast Wars; what was it called?  Beast Machines, I think?  But thankfully, Transformers Armada the game doesn't seem related to the show with the same name.  I guess it supposed to be a prequel to the original show.

But at the moment, the closest you'll get to a Transformers game on GameCube is Hudson's upcoming fighter with Optimus Prime in it.

Which fighter were you referring to?

I hear that this is a good game.  But what is this game?  I hear that it is a Zelda-esque game, but that's it.  Does anybody know anything else about it?  Any opinions from you guys who've got it yet?

I'm surprised at you guys.  Am I the only one that remembers that the ocarina was in LA too?  It only had limited use then, but it was still a good item..

I got the same complaints everyone else does.  Too much sailing in WW. It was a good idea, but in the end it doesn't hold up.  In WW2, I would much rather sail around maybe 10% of the time.
From the very begining I didn't like the baton.  I just tried to accept it, but now that I see I'm not the only one who didn't like it, I'll say my piece.  WHY does Link conduct the wind?  That has to be the dumbest idea ever.  I think that controlling the wind was a great gimmick for the new game, but with a conducters baton???  Why not a kazoo for crying out loud?  The ocarina should have been brought back for WW, and it should be in WW2.  That is the perfect item for Link in any game.
You wanna know something that I missed in WW?  There were no masks.  (The Hero's Charm doesn't count.)  I had grown fond of masks because of MM.  I'd like to see some again.
Plus, am I the only one who thought that Ganondorf was kinda easy?
(Don't get the wrong idea.  I really liked WW, I'm just saying there was room for improvement.)

Ugh.  The release date got pushed back again.  So much for February.  Now we have to wait until June.

You left out one important item on your list of items that shouldn't come back: the switchhook.  I just thought that was a terrible replacement for the hookshot, which was an excellent item. I would like to see the 'buddy system' brought back, though.  I'm talking about the last two dungeons in WW before Ganon's Tower, when you have to go through the dungeon with Makar or Medli. It was a new gimmick, that is kinda neat.  I would only want it in one or maybe two dungeons, though, cuz it would get anoying if you had to do it a lot.  The Roc's feather I can live without.  It's become a staple of the GB Zeldas, but the console Zeldas are perfectly fine without jumping.

BTW, I like the Twinrova theory.  That boss has got to be one of the best made in the Zelda series.  I will never get tired of fighting her/them.  I can see a storyline in WW2 where Link learns that Twinrova is trying to free Ganondorf once more.  It becomes a race to see who can get to the Master Sword first, but naturally, Link has to find a way back to Hyrule, sending him on his new epic quest.  Ah, what a game that would be.

I think that the multiple tunics will come back too.  But didn't we already get the Megaton Hammer back?  The Skull Hammer was just as good IMO.

Nintendo Gaming / Connectivity Question
« on: December 12, 2003, 12:14:35 PM »
Okay, here's the dilema:
I don't actually have a GBA.  I have the GBA Player.  Is there anyway I can still take advantage of the GBA/GC connectivity bonuses? For example, unlocking original Metroid on Metroid Prime with Metroid Fusion?  Obviously, using the Tingle Tuner in Wind Waker is out of the question, but what about other things?

StarFox Adventures: good action/adventure game; TERRIBLE StarFox game.  I liked the game for what it really is: Zelda with fur who occassionaly jumps in a spaceship.  though the overworld did seem kinda small, the game had good length, and good yet, weird, story.  For the next entry in the series, we'd better see an actual StarFox game just like StarFox 64.  That one was awesome.
But back to Sphinx:  yes the Mummy sequences were good.  Very good.  I actually thought that some of the puzzles in Sphinx were the best I've seen in any game, even Zelda.  Also it was amusing to watch Mummy do all the weird stuff he does.  A few of his 'abilities' were kinda cool.

Wow, this is an extemely short game.  I beat it in like a week (roughly 15 hours).  There was a good story for it, but all of a sudden, it just ends.  The game starts pretty slow, but then it picks up speed, and before you know it, you're done.  And there were only 4 bosses, including the final boss.  Even Wind Waker had more than that!  Still, with such an open ending (you have no idea how open), there will probably be a sequel.  But it was fun, and that's all that counts really.

Nintendo Gaming / Quick And Easy Question
« on: December 03, 2003, 12:19:19 PM »
Believe me, this is a completely pointless thread, but I'm gonna ask my question anyway.
Technically, what is a platformer?  I know a few different platforming games, but I still don't really get what one is.  It's really the only genre that I don't get.

Nintendo Gaming / Transformers Armada - Comin To The Cube??
« on: November 30, 2003, 11:54:52 AM »
I am now officially really excited about this game.  It's got beautiful graphics, and what seems to be a decent story.  You can play as Optimus Prime even!!!  It's gonna have all the classic Transformers you could ever want to see.  Heck, even Unicron will be in it.  (Remember him from the movie?  He was the planet-sized guy, but they said there will be another version of him in the game.)  I haven't seen any animations of the Transformations but I've heard that it looks good.  If the developers do everything the way it should be, then this could easily be a game of the year candidate.
The thing I wanna know is, has anyone heard anything about it being on any other systems?  I had heard that it was a PS2 exclusive, but a game that already has such an established fanbase should be available on each system.

okay i picked up the game yesterday, and here is what i have to say about it:
it is good.  Thats basically what it comes down to.  its not great but it is good.  if you like action adventure games like zelda, this is a game for you.  Right now, id say my only issue with it is that the camera has some problems.  still if you like this kind of game, this one is worth it.

Wow, five responses, and no one actually answered the question...

but anyway, i dont have rebel strike yet, but from what i've heard, it isnt as good as rogue leader.  suposedly, the flying segments (which still make up the majority of the game) are as good as ever, but the on-foot segments are atrocious.  nevertheless, i still plan on getting this game, its just a question of when.

I also plan on getting this game.  I haven't heard from any source that it was not a good game.  I've heard that though it plays out very similar to a Zelda game, it is nowhere near as good (For obvious reasons).  Still, it sounds good enough.

You get to drive a goliath, a siege tank and a vulture.  i think that missle turrets will be operable too.

You know, I wasn't too sure if I was gonna get Mario Kart, cuz I figured that once I get F-Zero, my desire for racing games will be fulfilled.  But if this is gonna be the only way to get the Zelda disk.....

I can tell you this is going to be the greatest game on the market when it comes out.  I've been following it for a year now, and I am a huge StarCraft fan.  (Never played the PC version though; just the N64 port, sadly.)  SCG was originally going to come out Winter '03, but they pushed it back, so you know Blizzard is putting their all into this game.  If this turns out to be anything less than perfect, I will be surprised.

Wind Waker 2 would be the perfect oppurtunity to do an over world like that.

My bad.  I never actually got to play Adventure of Link.

That map looks pretty good but it seems a little mashed together.  Spread that out some and maybe throw on another island and maybe an underground area, and I think you've got a great layout there.

If Link is a year or two older in WW2, that would be great.  I thought that he looked too young in WW.
If Ninty keeps the same engine as WW, and pairs it with a good story, I think that WW2 could be the greatest Zelda ever.  If they listen to all of our tips, that is.
