Looks like Sega are finally showing Virtua Fighter Quest. Sega will also announce two more GC exclusives there. Other big games there include Metal Gear Solid: TTS and Baiton Kaitos. Nintendo hasnt announced what it will be showing yet, and neither has Square-Enix and many other companies.

The Tokyo Games Show goes from the 26th to the 28th of September.

If you look at what titles sell huge it's usually games that provide the player with a lot of freedom and have a long game length ie: complicated games.

Yep, thats why Mario Party 4 outsold Zelda: TWW in Japan. And why Kirby's Air Ride is outselling F-Zero GX. And why Super Smash Bros Melee is the highest selling game on GameCube. *rolls eyes*

Made in Wario for GameCube (October 2003)
New 3D Zelda for GameCube (2004)
New Donkey Kong for GameCube (2003) Alleged Involvement with Namco Iwatani

Satoru Iwata Comments

' we prepare a new product, that surprising and unique will be.' It is to stand out qualitatively against past developments and be introduced in the next spring (exact details are unclear).

- ' Sonys multi-functional Handheld PSP will have no large influence on our business. But no matter whether Sony brings a new product out or not, we prepare our future. We will be able to likewise give exact data in the next spring.'

- ' a singular and easily playable product to make, Nintendo will lead on a new way of growth. We want to stop to make video games ever more complicate or more difficult. Instead we want to make simpler software for a larger audience.

' could in former times each video games completely simply enjoy. Therefore it will make always important plays, it for everyone makes possible fun with them to have.'

Im pretty sure the Zelda game they are refering to is the next "real" Zelda. When it says "out next fiscal year", it means it will come out sometime between April 2004 and March 2005, which makes it seem like its the next real Zelda game, the sequel to Wind Waker. And yeah, Wario Ware on GC has potential to be awesome!

Also, Namco are responsible for Klonoa, so they have experience with 2D platformers, it should be interesting to see how Donkey Kong GC ends up. And its coming out by the end of the year!

No details as of yet except for "Wario Ware is coming to GameCube in October". I would expect new minigames, updated graphics and cool new multiplayer modes.

Nintendo to give details of new product next year

Thu August 7, 2003 01:45 AM ET

TOKYO, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Japan's Nintendo Co Ltd 7974.OS said on Thursday it planned to reveal details of a new game product in spring next year, giving no further clarification.

President Satoru Iwata made the announcement at a news conference on the videogame maker's business strategy.

In January, Iwata told Reuters that the company was developing a next-generation home videogame console with the aim of launching it in 2005 or 2006, in a bid to restore its clout in the lucrative videogame market.

He also told the news conference that the company planned to strengthen its marketing by introducing a points scheme similar to "air miles", in which consumers would accumulate points by buying Nintendo products.

Nintendo Gaming / Masahiro Sakurai leaves Nintendo!
« on: August 05, 2003, 06:13:20 PM »
http://www2u.biglobe.ne.jp/~nanko/news.cgi?id=2003080603

Masahiro Sakurai, creator of Kirby and director of the Super Smash Bros series, has left HAL / Nintendo.

Translated: (yes i speak japanese too.... :P
Quote

- I have quit HAL (the resignation is already submitted)
- I haven't really decided what I'll do next
- This wasn't coerced by someone else, but is of my own free will
- I felt it was impossible to keep on making games under the current structure
- I felt attracted to the freedom to join up with all sorts of different creators if I went outside
- I have no intention right now of becoming a member or developer at some company or group
- I'm thinking about simply taking light freelance work for the time being
- I want people to understand that I make games from the power I receive from other people, and I make them for users, not for developers or companies
- There's already some interesting work opportunities coming
- Kirby will continue on in HAL. I don't know about Smash Bros.
- I'm very excited right now!

The future of Smash Bros is uncertain!

This is pretty bad news, Masahiro Sakurai was the guy who made SSBM what it was. He worked his ass off to ensure the game turned out how it did. In fact, they had to FORCE him to stop developing it and finally release it because he wouldnt stop adding new stuff to the game. There were a bunch of modes and features that he had to cut out unwilling, so Nintendo could get the game out by it's release date.

-________________- x 100000 and six

F'ing cold, i was sneezing, coffing and talking in a wierd sick voice all day. When i was playing basketball i stacked it, which i thought nothing of at the time. Then, on my way to TAFE i missed the train and arrived late to find the girl i was going to ask out today being asked out by someone else, and it looked like she said yes ;_; . So i sat down at my desk next to some loser (all teh other seats were taken -___-) and was f'ing bored and pissed off. Then at break time i got yelled at for yelling at someone over a game of pool which i obviously didnt cheat in. Then i went back to class, was bored, walked around the room, gave mr stinky pants evil guy who i hate now, an evil stare. Got on the packed train, had to stand up, walked home from the station. Arrived home (at 6pm) to realise that my computer was on and i was signed into MSN since like 10am because my f'ing dad turned my computer on for some retarded reason, messages get, people were pissed off at me for not replying to them. THEN, i looked in the mirror, only to find the left side of my face covered in blood. I guess it must have happened when i stacked while playing basketball, at 12am. WHY DIDNT ANYONE TELL ME I HAD F'ING BLOOD ON MY FACE -_________-

life sucks

Basically it says Shinji Mikami wants to work on a Nintendo franchise like how Sega worked on F-Zero and how Namco is working on Starfox, and Miyamoto confirms Metroid Prime 2 for 2004 on GameCube.
