Nintendo Gaming / EA Playground hype thread

This game has been released in the US now, does anyone have it or plan on getting it? I'm getting it when it's out in Aus in about 2/3 weeks but in the mean time some impressions would be great. Despite possibly being as awesome as Wii Sports or even more awesome, this has flown under the rader. I'm very interested in whether the controls work well or not, because all the games in it have potential to be really fun. It has WALL BALL!

"Oh but it's by EA!" you say. "Nintendo didn't overlook its development!". Well guess what it could still be good. "Who cares if it's good, the characters are ugly", well that's a fair point, but one that we can hopefully ignore as we are immersed in the fun gameplay.

That game is probably more important then people give it credit for, it is a fresh, full fledged traditional game for Wii that appears to be well designed with alot of ingenuity (Heck I bet even the budget was decent sized). Zack and Wiki and then RE:UC have potential to make or break 3rd party support.

Zack and Wiki is probably going to flop big time. Games don't sell well just because they are good. Think about what you'd think of it if you've never heard it before, then picked up the box at the store and had a look. I'd probably be so offended i'd push over the shelf.

Casual gamers aren't stupid morons despite not playing through 100 hour RPGs, obviously they are going to notice that the "Zapper" is nothing but a completely stupid waste of plastic as well. The game sounds good however. They should throw in a free nunchuck instead.

Third party games on Nintendo consoles also have to compete with elitist Nintendo fans who wont buy a third party game that scores less than 9.5 on wankalot.com, not just Nintendo games.

As for my Wishlist

A realistic racing game. Anything. Driving is SO COOL with the Wii controllers, but third parties are too busy spending 6 months modelling cars on PS3.

Red Faction Wii would be absolutely incredible

After more play I really wish this was on Wii instead, any negatives I have with it basically come down to the DS system limitations. I hope for the Wii version they get the proper dev team to make it rather than farm it down to Firebrand. Time to realise who the market leader is third parties, Wii having zero good racers even ANNOUNCED after an entire year is beyond a joke

EDIT: However, the DS only modes like Creating Tracks and Wifi are absolutely fantastic. Sucks how hardly anyone is online though, the game is flopping, only on a Nintendo system could such an incredible third party game bomb like this. You keep enjoying your Diddy Kong Racing nintards.

You can't buy loyalty with moneyhats. Plus it sounds like Konami is so far up Sony' arse that it cannot brush its teeth each morning.
It must be pretty crowded up there

Coming 2012 at the earliest then. Can't wait

The reason these exploits are bad is because they are unnecessary. Once the hardcore players learn them its back to equal terms, but with more wanking on top. It's just another layer that not only looks ridiculous, but alienates new players. Still though it's very satisfying beating cheap players with standard moves and smarter thinking in something like Strikers, they are more predictable.

Track editor is simple what's to read about. Haven't delved too much into it yet but it gives you a lot of freedom and you can create some massive tracks, i've made one 3 minute one so far. Handling felt a bit weird at first after playing the console one so much, but its very fun. Braking points seem dead on realistic but the car slides around a bit more. Dpad isn't as big a problem as I thought it'd be, it just gets annoying sometimes trying to straighten the car up on straights and getting through fast long turns smoothly, it can disrupt your flow. One bad thing about it compared to the PS2 version is the AI is a bit wild and weird, the actual racing / overtaking is a bit lame, and the damage is a lot more forgiving.

It's pretty fantastic how much they've squeezed into this little cartridge.

Online play confirmed. Battles and map sharing. Puchase confirmed. A shame, I didn't want to buy this game after seeing the new terrible art style.
