akdaman, my problem with you is that you have scarcely posted a single intelligent thing since oyu have come to this place.  I asked you to do a simple thing like research RPC, and you couldn't even find out what it stood for.  I want Xbox to fail for the same reason I want Windows to fail.  It's a shoddily designed piece of crap that MS is marketting like it was the second coming, and complete f*cking retards fall for it.

Just kidding of course.

Do you seriously think you are not alone?  You know my personality well enough to fill in the blanks of course.  I still think that Windows is a very shoddy product, and does not deserve its place in the lead.  The problem is that since it has the largest userbase, people will develop for it, and because it has the largest amount of software, people will use it... and so on.

Luckily though, Linux has everything you might want, aside from games.  Since I don't play PC Games, it's a very appealing alternative for me.

I still don't see any need to give Microsoft any money, even if they do get what they have by lying, cheating, and stealing.

Procession, don't bother trying to argue with Akdaman.  It's seriously not worth your while.

Mouse, Microsoft is proceeding with the Xbox with a philosophy that they will buy what they can and sort it all out later.  They tried to by Nintendo, EA, Square, Sega, Bungie, Rare, and many others, on the assumption that if they bought some of the more respected developers, then people would buy their crappy console, and they could win in the end.  Where do you suppose the funding for that comes from?

It's freaking huge, and the default icons are just as big.  And Opera just seems WAY too cluttered for my tastes anyway.  I like simplicity above all, and that's where Firebird excels.  It's, small, simple, and fast.

Pretty styling manunited.    Do you have a 3DMark03 score to back that up?

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1609701

There's my latest.  Completely untweaked in any way, and I was actually running SETI@Home while running it, so I am sure I can do better.  I ran it right after installing my video card, and haven't had time for any hardcore tweaks yet.

heh.  I actually went back to the milestone recently when I encountered some severe bugs in the nightly.  That was like 2 weeks ago.  I will have to check out the new nightly though.  Thanks for the tip.  (besides.... I have been missing my SSE optimizations.  )

EDIT:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031210 Firebird/0.7+ (aebrahim)

ahhh....  good old Aebrahim.  The dude never lets me down.  I can't really say as that I like the new icon, but everything else seems to be rocking my world.

I actually like the fact that Firebird isn't trying to sell me anything.    The banner ad in Opera REALLY bothers me.

Hmmm... I wonder which of Internet Explorer vulnerabilities are causing Ruby's problems?  It pretty much goes without saying that he visited the wrong site and got some sort of trojan/virus/spyware installed on his computer.  Pretty sure it wasn't PGC, as nobody else really has those problems.  I know that I don't, but my browser is free of ActiveX and VBScript, which... I am quite happy about.

Sorry, 2 more things.

Firebird blocks the ad from displaying, not loading.  I don't think it's possible for advertisers to know the difference.  Besides, if you REALLY want to see the ads, you can unblock sites, but the default is blocked.

PaleZero, don't know what to tell you.  It sounds like you might have a bug in your profile or something.  Try erasing your profile and starting again from scratch.  Although I have personally never had the problem, I have heard that if you switch versions without clearing your profile, you can have problems.  (I frequently use the nightlies though... and I have not had an appreciable number of bugs)

Procession, I just like the simplicity and speed which Firebird gives me.  It's like comparing Winamp 2 to Winamp 3.  I can live with a few bugs if it means more speed.

And I use Windows XP Pro at the moment.  I am going to try to reinstate my Linux partition this weekend however.  (Mandrake 9.2... been a Windows user for FAR too long for anything more hardcore.)

akdaman, how about you figure out what an RPC vulnerability is.  When you get done that, come back here and tell me you haven't had any problems with Windows.

Mouse, I know what you mean.  There are some things we would just rather not do without.  But with me, all the games I play regularly are available on Linux, and Linux is more oriented towards people like me.  I am seriously going to do something about that this weekend.

Console gamer for life.  I don't even really buy PC games.  I have a gaming quality PC, but I don't really use the gaming portion of it.

akdaman... you are somewhat less than intellectual.  Whatever you might think, Windows is FAR from great.

Procession, you missed one very important thing.  For those of you planning on buying an Athlon 64 in the near future, take a guess what the only 64 bit OS is right now.

But related to your first point, I always did find it kind of odd that PGC is run on an IIS server.  I mean, what's the deal with that?

Well, I would like to go Microsoft free, but that's just not practical for me right now.  Maybe at some point in the future though, as I REALLY do think that Linux would be better for the most part for someone like me.  I just need to find time to make some space on my hard drive for my Linux partition again.

Besides, I have sort of had distaste in my mouth for nVidia ever since they drove 3dfx out of business.  (I still have a Voodoo2 in my PC.  )

I would sell you mine, but I would demand a game instead of cash. I also don't do paypal and I don't need the cash.

Hmmmm... now that's a toughie.  What game would interest you?  I don't want to pay TOO much, so it would have to be something I could find for cheap...

http://texturizer.net/firebird/faq.html#opera

There's a section in the FAQ for importing Opera bookmarks.  Since Opera is actually a really strange browser, you need a seperate program to import Opera bookmarks.

And Bill, good job.  That's one more down, about 70 million to go.

I really don't know Mouse.  I got a sticker with my sound card (Audigy 2), and my last CPU came with a sticker (Celeron 600).  But my OEM Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro did not.

And yeah, I know that I could make my own sticker... but I really want a real one.  I figure if someone here doesn't mind parting with their sticker for a bit of money, I would be glad to pay it.

I will pay for the sticker + Shipping via paypal for the first person willing to sell me a "powered by ATI" sticker from their GameCube for a reasonable price.

You do NOT need a credit card to recieve money for this.

I just want the sticker so I can stick it to my PC case.  As I bought an OEM Radeon about a month ago, I am in need of a case sticker.    I cannot think of a better way of signifying that I do in fact have a 100% nVidia free PC.  And I really don't want to take the sticker off my GameCube.

Yes, I know.  But I saw this thread when it was new while I was sneaking onto the forums at work.  (They actually log all our usage, and make us sign a form to get internet access, so it's not really sneaking per say...  And I use FIREBIRD at work, contrary to our computer usage policy.  HAH!)  I think I did good for being able to keep my mouth shut for almost 16 hours.

deificide, you can still register your GameCube online, (I just registered mine a few weeks ago) and I really don't think it matters much if it's registered or not.  I hear that Nintendo is pretty good with their warranties... you should at least try.

There's a thread with info about it around here somewhere though.  Supposedly, someone here fixed such a problem by tinkering with his laser assembly.  Check it out.

With your GameCube????  I will say NO!

If you are talking about Mario Sunshine, I think you really need to take a chill pill and stop watching the framerate, and start playing the game.  I only noticed frame drops in the last stage.

Well, CUBE Magazine must have become a lot cheaper in recent history.  They used to give the full faceplate.

Sorry, I have had a bit to drink tonight, and I don't read so well after a few beers.  (I don't read so well normally either, but whatever)
