It's there, but it's not the selling point, ala BMX XXX and DOA.

Kind of like Pokemon eh?

Well, given that I haven't been flamed to oblivion yet for my take on this, I would like to point you all towards this cartoon that states a similar point of view to my own.

Magickal Attack hits absolutely everything, zombies included.  There's a trick to beating him, but I can't remember what it is right now.  You have to do something to get him to lower his defenses at any rate.  When he does that, nail him with the most powerful attack spell you have time to cast before he raises them again.  (I usually cast a 5 point one)

In a mall in my city, there's a poster thing in the middle of a hallway with advertisements on it.  In the most conspicuous place, there's a poster advertising Wario World.  It shows Wario's head digitally inserted onto a picture of a real life guy with an open shirt, and a hairy chest with all kinds of bling bling on it.  There's a caption that asserts that fact, but I can't remember what it is.  It's a really good poster, and even though I don't like the game, I smile every time I see it.

I listed B because it was the one that started a huge movement on Newgrounds.

B was a crappy flash movie made by Strawberry Clock.  For some strange reason, it was never blammed, and it gained quite a lot of notoriety on newgrounds.  Slowly, there became other flash artists who started going by clock names.  In a sense, that movie was the one that created the unofficial mascots of newgrounds.  You can read the whole story on Newgrounds, but it's ancient history now.  Fact of the matter is that now the Clocks run the place, and they generally have some pretty high quality and funny movies these days.  Clock Day is a day that celebrates the anniversary of the movie "B" being submitted, and it just recently passed.  On Clock Day, newgrounds is themed completely in Clock style, and all the clocks submit their works of art for the rest to see.  This year was the second anniversary, and lots of good ones were submitted.

Search for Clock on newgrounds, and you will find like 10 billion movies.  Many of them are crappy, but many of them are good.  Since a lot of movies in my list are clock movies, I included B, with the hopes that you would pick up on what was going on when watching The Void.  Unfortunately, all the references to B seem to have fallen flat on y'all.

Anyways, does it make sense now?

Heh.  I have seen that site before, and I have already mocked the hell out of it.  Frankly, I am tired of such blatant stupidity.  I know that theological discussions are prohibited on these boards, but I MUST say that it's because of people like this that I am such a devout atheist/religion basher.

I personally have problems with both MMORPGs, and Pay to Play games, so I have never played it.  But I could see how it could be addictive to some people.

Hehe... I personally think that would be hilarious.  My mother would never do that, but if she did, I would be laughing my butt off.

btw, this mother is worse.

Heh... I am suddenly reminded of Mortal Kombat SNES which everyone mocked because Nintendo took out the blood.  Soul Calibur II is proof that the greatest fighter ever can make a very good go of itself without advertising their new boob bouncing engine, or putting in blood.

But yeah, Soul Calibur II is fine for kids if they can handle realistic CG characters beating the crap out of eachother with melee weapons.    There are no fatalities, no blood, and no overly violent scenes.  When I was 5 though, some of my favorite movies included Highlander and Conan the Barbarian, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

For controllers, GC was rated the lowest. A.) Directional pad--it's too small so either you're force to use the analog stick or just deal with the pad.

I have NEVER understood this argument.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with the GCN D-Pad, and The analog stick actually works better in Soul Calibur II anyways, so what's the deal?

Given that the Xbox has the weakest controller, I would say that the PS2 or GCN version would simply own the Xbox version.  Especially given that the graphics are pretty much the same across the platforms.  Pick the special character and controller that you like the best and go with it.

Alright, be warned that I am quite drunk, and likely to not make a lot of sense.  Nevertheless, I will try to answer your question.

Jacob's Ladder was much like Silent Hill in that almost everything was presented in a very obvious manner.  There was very little subtlety involved, and the story was presented in a clear manner, yet a paradox was very evident.  Donnie Darko was different in that much of the story was left to the viewer's interpretation, yet I felt that a clear theme was underlying the movie.  I felt that if I could break the symbolic bonds, I could free the intent and purpose of the movie.  I actually considered posting a thread in this very forum specifically for Donnie Darko.  Yet I watched the movie with the director's commentary just so I would be able to better understand it, and I came to a shocking discovery.

Fact of the matter is, Donnie Darko didn't go insane, according to the director.  He considered it to be a science fiction story in which the main character is hyper sensitive, but perfectly sane.  To me, this doesn't sit very well.  I think that the "they" that he speaks of is Donnie's own mind.  He is creating Frank from his own half forgotten memories of time not yet past.  He is caught in a time loop, and it's impossible for him to escape until he makes the right decision.  He is obviously insane already from his past events, making him easily accessable from the powers that be.  Much like groundhog day, he is trapped in a repeating world for him that his making him unconsciously aware of what must be done.  Frank, and everything else is a fiction created by his own mind and nobody elses.

And so ends my theory of the movie.  I simply CANNOT accept the director's simple explanation.

Good news, Namco is also releasing Baten Kaitos next year in the US. Its seems that several third parties contacted Namco about bringing the game to US. Seeing the huge interest that BK was drawing Namco decided bring it over themselves. I'm already in debt, I guess I'll just have to add some more to the tally.

I was already sure of this, since it's quite possibly the biggest thing in RPGs since Chrono Trigger, but I am just very glad to hear that it's official.  The game is by far my most anticipated game.

I watched it again with the director's commentary.  It answered all the mysteries surrounding the movie.  For those who haven't done that yet, DON'T.  Answering the mystery is not a good thing.  I disagree greatly with the official explanation, and I suspect that many of you will too.

I would rather have just bought the game and been able to sit down by myself and play it like Kingdom Hearts

Tycho's post yesterday just kind of served to piss me off.  I am just glad it was Tycho and not Gabe though.  Tycho often strikes me as being kind of an idiot, but Gabe doesn't ever really dissapoint me.

But yeah, those of you bitching that you need to buy 3 more GBAs to play the game, I guess that you also forgot that you need to hire 3 hookers to play with you too.  Bummer.

But that being said, if I am ever stinking filthy rich, I am definately going to have hookers over every night to play video games with me.    I am just geeky enough that that would be a HUGE turnon for me.  Maybe rent a PS2 and get some Rez action going... yeah.  That would be fan****ingtastic.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: new tales of symphonia trailer
« on: August 26, 2003, 11:13:56 AM »
You know, when I first saw this thread, I thought you were talking about a different ToS trailer I saw, and passed it up.  I thought you were talking about one of the ones I had already seen, which just basically showed some gameplay, which with an RPG is one of the most boring sights ever.  But when I saw the new multi-game Japanese trailer that Lloyd Christmas posted, I saw a piece of what I was missing, so I tracked down this thread again.

A very nice, very well done trailer that shows some of the more interesting scenes.  I cannot wait for an American release.  (But I am waiting even more eagerly for Baten Kaitos still)

ooh... well that's different.    Poor bastard...  My teacher would have had us learn them in 3 days I'm sure, but I only had that class 3 days a week.    Nevertheless, I only actually spent time learning them in one of the two days I had to learn them, as I had other classes that required my time on the other days.
