It really ticks me of when games off this calibur sell well...  It's like people have no respect for good games anymore.  Basically, I completely agree with Ian Sane.

Heh.  I reported him again today Mouse.  I got a nice warning for my part in this too.

Anyways, I trust that you will all vote for Cloud in the last match?  I would really rather that the cross dressing guy with a big sword to make up for his lack of other things wins over the ultra-femmie closet homosexual with an Oedipus Complex.

Dark Tower...  I am just going to call you DT.

Well, DT... The Dark Tower is a rather complicated story.  Basically, it's about a universe parallel to our own, where there are remnants of technology present, but there is also magic and monsters.  If you have ever played Fallout, then you would have an idea about the setting of the books.  I don't want to spoil anything by telling too much about the story, but the main character is very cool, and the story features a few crossovers from other King books, and I believe that it has the finest plot of any of his books.

nah, it's only kiddy when it comes from Nintendo.  When Sega makes a game, it's "cool".

And I don't appreciate Square fans stereotyping Nintendo fans.

Read the post right before that one Gup.  Then read mine.  Then just for good measure, read your first one.

I'm Square, but I do like other games they make and dislike some in the FF series.  And I can say the same thing about Nintendo fans, "I hate Nintendo fans.  They are so blind to anything that's not Nintendo or exclusive."  That's kind of true actually(no offense), but that's their opinion.

Gup, you should know that I wasn't trying to start anything with you.  Read between the lines man.  You are actually starting to act like this little troll here right now, and that's NOT a good thing.

I hate Square fans who think that any character not in a Final Fantasy game isn't worthy of any recognition.

General Chat / How much does an e-reader cost in the US?
« on: August 31, 2003, 04:57:58 PM »
I feel like a doctor doing triage right now.  I am going through all my stuff, and marking it for 3 categories.

Dump
Storage
Take with me

Anyways, I just came across a coupon for $10 off of an e-reader that's actually still good.  I got it with Pokemon Sapphire.  I checked it over, and it's good in both the US and Canada.  It seems almost a shame to use it in Canada that being the case, as I am sure the e-reader is good deal more expensive up here.  So could anyone tell me the cost of an e-reader south of the border?  Thanks much.

I am a firm believer that if you don't have at least some of the the relevant facts, you shouldn't make a decision.

Agnostic means that you don't believe or disbelieve in God.  You allow for a possibility, meaning that you admit that you don't know crap.  Being an atheist means that you don't allow for a possibility of there being a god, and you are basically saying that you know for a fact that god does not exist.

Which do you think is more reasonable?

very impressive... but that's very much a no-no.  You aren't supposed to link directly to pictures unless it's your own website.

Yeah, I know.  But the thing is is that I don't read ANYTHING these days.  The Dark Tower Part 5 comes out in November, and I don't think that I will even read that in a timely fashion.  I WANT to read it, but I am not sure that I will be able to.  Reading just doesn't come naturally to me anymore.  With LOTR, I think I might prefer to just watch the movie of the last part.  So far I have been liking the movies more than the books anyways.

Yes, I have read the first two books of the Lord of the Rings.  I have read the first 4 books of The Dark Tower.  I think it peaked with Book 3 myself, but we shall see.

But have you read the Dark Tower books?  If you haven't, I would really get on that.  Even if you don't think that they are as good as LOTR, they are still very much worth a read.  They aren't based on LOTR at all, so it's not like they are ripping anyone off, but when you start reading it, you can see that it's a fantasy/sci-fi type deal.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Why Nintendo?
« on: August 31, 2003, 07:27:02 AM »
My wish list for the end of the year:

[GCN]
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Soul Calibur II
Skies of Arcadia: Legends
Resident Evil: Code Veronica X
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron 3: Rebel Strike
Phantasy Star Online Episodes I & II
F-Zero GX
I-Ninja
StarCraft: Ghost

[GBA]
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Mario and Luigi
Fire Emblem

[PC]
Silent Hill 3

That's just what I know that I want to buy without strings attached.  Anything beyond that must prove itself to me first.

General Gaming / Shinsen Gumi (PS2)
« on: August 31, 2003, 07:13:07 AM »
When I first saw the screenshots for this game, I was still half asleep, and they didn't really click with me.  I DID know that I liked what I saw though.  Now that I am awake, I realize a little more about it.  The Shinsen Gumi were very much a part of the Rurouni Kenshin anime, and had a big part in the OVAs that I love so much.

I must say that if I owned a PS2, I would SO be importing this game when it was released.  There are very few PS2 games that I would actually buy, but this one is definately a keeper in my books from what I see of it.

I suppose that there are now about 4 or 5 PS2 games that I KNOW I would own if I had a PS2.

I could see it beating GameCube, as many of the GCN greats have yet to make it to Europe.  But beating the PS2 is a whole different story.  In my books, the Xbox would have difficulty beating the 3D0, and I find it very inconcievable that the Xbox can actually beat BOTH the PS2 and the GCN, which are very respectable consoles.

Personally, my favorite books are the Dark Tower books.  I would list them as the best fantasy, AND the best sci-fi.  Things that good don't come around too often.

I am probably even in more danger of getting banned than Mouse Clicker, as I have already been given my first and only warning by Rick, but I am just going to add my bit here.

I am an atheist/agnostic.  I say both, because I allow for a possiblity of there actually being a God, but my magic 8 ball says that all signs point to no, making me effectively an atheist, and in a theological debate, I will always side with the atheists.

My main reason for hating religions is that they don't encourage enlightenment.  Religions tell you exactly what's what, and don't allow for any departure from what they tell you.  What they tell you is the "truth", and if you disbelieve them, you are a sinner and stand a good chance of going to hell for that.  If I go to hell for that, then I don't want to go to heaven.  Every astoundingly intelligent man in history it seems has been attacked by the Church.  Galileo, Copernicus, Darwin, Newton, and the list goes on and on.  The majority of wars and acts of genocide in the world have been brought on by intense religious beliefs.  Almost EVERYONE will attack religions.  The difference between an atheist and a theist is simple.  The theist will attack all religions that aren't his own, and will sometimes kill to protect his god and beliefs.  The atheist will attack them all, but I have yet to see a case where an atheist would kill to protect his belief.

I just have a problem with religions because they brainwash their followers with a bunch of BELIEFS that they are expected to treat as fact.  I don't think this is healthy considering the side effects that are all too common.  Ask any fundamentalist Christian about Darwin for a case example of what I am talking about.
