General Chat / RE: Official Birth of Darth Vader Concept Art (pic inside)
« on: January 13, 2004, 02:42:05 PM »
I think the sabre fights in the preguels are brilliant. Just compare them to the original trilogy.  I mean, i have to give them some slack because they were old men fighting.  But Darth Vader is supposed to be one of (if not) the best swordsmen in the universe.  And he was barely able to beat old wrinkly Obi-Wan. If he is that good, he should have been doing Yoda style fighting.  But hey, it's 26 years old so it's good for its age.

"I definately think they should keep it more nostalgic and fantasy-ish rather than adult or a street-fighter clone. Ee."

I agree with you there.  Good ideas but they are getting very complicated.
Mainly the extra moves I'm talking about.  It would be good but that's making a bit more like tekken etc.  Instead of 1 or 2 buttons that cover all the moves you have to master pressing all these buttons at the same time to do a combo.

If I'm in the mood for a heavyweight I use Bowser and King Boo in the Boo Pipes, (King Boo's Silver Pipe Car).  It has good acceleration which I like and it has still got 5 stars on weight.

I am assuming that this is Nintendo's answer to the PSP.  If it is true.

"Whew good. I am the Rainbow Road master." Berny

If only I could race you on rainbow road.  That would be an interesting comp.  I'm a master of it also if I say so myself.

Speaking of backfiring shells, I had a very interesting experience with a shell.  I was placing first on DK Jungle track (of course).  Pardon me.  Anyway i happened to have a bowser shell in my item box and i happened to be crossing the bridge in front of the finish line and the other karts just happenned to be in single file crossing the bridge directly behind me.  You can guess what I did.  Every single kart got knocked off the bridge, giving me a 30 second lead over second place.

All cup is a lot easier to win than the other 4 race cups if you are good at some of the treacks.  You have a lot more leeway when it comes to losing
races.  If you win your good tracks, than you shouldn't have many problems.

Occasionally you can dodge a shell without a boost.  IF you time it perfectly you can turn around the shell.  The boost helps of course though.  The technique only works if the sheel is coming at you from the side.

Anyone got gold on special Cup on 150cc yet, or even higher mabye?? Also, what's your favourite (or best) track? My best combo is toad and toadett on toads kart.  I've got max points for everything with those two.  But I also really like the Boo Pipes (king boo's kart).  They give you full weight but also high accel. My best tracks are rainbow road and bowser castle on 150cc and mirror.

General Gaming / RE: Console or PC??
« on: December 11, 2003, 03:57:53 PM »
I will say that PC is much better at first person shooters than consoles with regard to controls.  I personally would rather use a keyboard and mouse for a FPS than a controller, no matter the system.  Controllers are so fiddley for a game like that.  Instead of doing everything at the same time you have to stop, hold a button in, scroll through a menu and find whatever.  BUt I don't play much FPS so it doesn't affect me much.  But when I do it frustrates the hell out of me.

General Gaming / Console or PC??
« on: December 10, 2003, 06:18:26 PM »
What do you feel is more value for money?? Console's or PC's.  My opinion is a console hands down. They last 3-5 years without superseeding.  The graphics are fine. They cost much less than a PC. $250-$300 compared to $2000-$3000.  The games are about the same price.  PC's are more versatile but are much more likely to stuff up.   Anyway, these are my thoughts, what do you think??

DVD is just an unnessesary novelty to raise the price.  I got a GC and a stand-alone DVD player for cheaper than an X-Box or PS2 on it's own.

What are your favourite character combos?  How do you prefer you kart stats? Do you prefer heavy karts with slow top speed and low acceleration? Do you rather heavy karts with high accel. and low top speed etc.??

The further back you are, the better items you get, (special or not). I've never got a lightning bolt above 6th place.  Never got a star above 4th.  You only get bananas and shells, occasionally a mushroom.

With regards to shortcuts:

Yoshi Island: (whatever, I can't remember what it's called), there is a underground shortcut where yoshi's mane. frill, sail thing is. ( or whatever you want to call it)  After you come out the underpass cave, look for a small grass hill on the very edge of the island.  Ensure you have a nitrous mushroom and activate just as you drive over the ramp. You'll see it. You emerge over that big U-turn.

Mushroom City:  Near the start of the race move over to the right side of the road.  You will see a small pink trail leading between two buildings.

They are the only 2 I can think of for now.

« on: September 30, 2003, 09:45:47 PM »
I can't get fire emblem here so forgive my asking the obvious.  But why does Roys sword flame when you attack someone? (In Smash Bros. Melee anyway)  Does this happen in the fire emblem game/s?

What's the difference between pro logic 1 and 2?  My system has pro logic one and games still sound brilliant on that.

I've heard that the plasma beam burns his wings away faster so he lands sooner.  My opinion is that he is much harder on the ground.  If use a different beam he will stay up in the air longer which gives you less health to remove when he is on the ground.  That's just what I've heard.

If you think about starcraft, it is was made when, 1993, 94, and if you ask me the graphics were brillian and still are for a game of that age.  Imagine what they can do now.

Well the rumoured starcraft 2 is going to be RTS.  Thats what i prefer too.  Ghost looks really appealing in the fact that you can call seige tank strikes and battlecruiser strikes.  Lockdown, cloaking, nuking, other wonderful technologies.  I think it'll be awesome.
