TalkBack / Re: River City: Tokyo Rumble (3DS) Review
« on: September 26, 2016, 06:38:32 PM »
I was going to get this and Dragon Quest VII on release, but a work project came up that will prevent me from digging right in. I will definitely pick it up eventually. I'm actually more a fan of this series from the arcade versions of Renegade and Superdodgeball, but my friend and I played a lot of the NES games too. They, along with Double Dragon, went well with the Warriors, the Wanderers, and the Last Dragon, which we were also big fans of at the time. We treated Kunio-Kun/DD as almost defacto licensed games.

That's cool, good luck. I had a blast in Columbus a few years ago and have wanted to make a return trip since.

It's tough for me to fit MLS into my already incredibly crowded sports schedule. I'm ostensibly a NYCFC fan, but I've only really followed them on paper outside a few games on tv here-and-there. I don't live in the city anymore, and haven't used one of my trips back to go to a game. I was a huge admirer of Patrick Vieira when he was a player, so I'm glad to see him doing well as a coach.

Fitzpatrick's QBR was 98.3 points less than it was against Buffalo. The Jets last five drives ended in interceptions. Bowles and Gailey have their hands full.

Casemiro and Marcelo are out for Tuesday (1-2 mons/3 weeks respectively). Ronaldo, Bale, and Benzema look 70% at most. Madrid don't have another DM, or LB other than Coentrão, who himself hasn't played for a long time due to injury. Navas should finally play though. It will be interesting to see Zidane's line-up. Pulisic will definitely get some opportunities.

Thanks for the advice and offer; I just responded. Your generosity is so fortuitous too. I haven't been able to game for a week, and when I launched New Leaf last night, I learned my friend Rasher moved on to greener pastures. I thought I was in the clear because I just talked him out of moving a few weeks ago. You've saved me from mourning my loss  ;D

Thanks ejamer.

Hi Kairon. Do you still need 299-Francine? I'd like 132-Vladimir if you are interested in trading. If one card isn't enough for a trade, I can buy some more from you. I don't have anything else you need.

Between Jets-Bills and remontada it's been a glorious two days of football. I didn't see Dortmund but apparently Pulisic looked very good. Madrid has a couple tricky La Liga games before, so I shouldn't look ahead, but part of me is already focused on 9.27. Dortmund is one of the best atmospheres in sport, Zidane's men are fearless, and the Pulisic hype is real. I can't wait.

That was the Jets at their best and worst last night. Luckily more best, and it was on the road in a short week against a divisional rival that has recently had their number. I'm always hard on Fitzpatrick so I should acknowledge he played a lot better. That's the kind of decision making they need from him to win. The secondary was still burned a couple times, but they played better too. The DL is arguably the best in the NFL, and the LBs are good, so they should be ok with a coverage adjustment. They just won't be able to aggressively blitz as often as usual, which may not be that much of a problem with their front seven. I'm reasonably pleased with all of the offensive and defensive units. They are playing relatively well so far. This schedule is front loaded, so they should be in the thick of the wild card late if they are .500 through the first half.

It worked though. The listener could identify what you were chanting so it was firmly on the weird end of the continuum of funny. Coming before the listener mail increased my amusement at least

I knew the Jets had an inaccurate, weak armed QB who makes poor decisions. That's life in the NFL where there's usually only 15 or so decent QBs available for 32 teams. It's up to the front office and coaches to figure out how to win without a dominant passer. What's more immediately troubling is getting seven sacks and still letting Andy Dalton complete 77% of his passes for 350+. It doesn't bold well for a secondary that has traditionally been a strength of the team. Otherwise, Jets looked pretty good and should contend for a wild card if they can tighten up some stuff.

Lol, you're a bit harsher on it than me. The game is obviously flawed, but I found the storyline provocative at the time.

Interesting, thank you both for the advice. I find the SMG storyline and demon summoning conceit intriguing, so I'm really looking forward to playing these.

I've often wondered if the psilocybin theme of Nintendo's main universe was an intentional troll job or just a fortuitous coincidence. It was a hot topic of conversation at our school lunch table.

Thanks, I'll try that. It appears to be this site in particular that my phone doesn't like. The "press down" technique works for me elsewhere. I know NWR is supported by volunteers, so I'm not complaining, just posting for edification purposes.

Very happy to see Super Castlevaina drop. I was hoping it would be one of the SNES surprises.
Always wanted to play it, heard nothing but positive things about this game. loved mirror of darkness on the 3DS so I'll pick this one up.

I beat the first Castlevaina but I can't remember how far I got in 2. I'm looking forward to going back and re-exploring 2 just for the weirdness, but I always wanted to play 3 and 4 (not to mention SOTN). I played a little of 3 tonight. I already like the clearer visual design and the edge they seemingly took off the difficulty.

Cool, thanks. I was worried about getting bogged down in guides and OCDish power gaming. I have Overclocked and SMT4 & EO4 and Millennium Girl. I plan on getting more.

I guess this is the problem with playing games designed for children, but I'm still having a hard time understanding who the 12 hour shift is catering to. If you play at night, it seems you get the worst of both worlds. So I assume it's aimed at kids who want to play Moon during the day. I don't have kids of my own, but I assume that they do most of their gaming outside of school hours, so who is this benefiting? The younger the child, the less likely they are to appreciate the night/day cycle. The older the child, the more likely it seems they would be gaming more in the evenings. I feel like I'm missing something obvious, because I haven't seen people raising this point. If anything, people are saying it helps nighttime gamers.

It's funny, I'm very excited for SMT4:A even though I don't plan on playing it for at least a year or two. I've been picking up all the Atlus games when they run those huge sales, but I haven't played any yet because of their reputation for difficulty. They really sound like something I'm going to enjoy, but I'll need to concentrate on them. I assume I am running through the games I am playing (much) more quickly than I will Megami Tenseu or Etrian Odyssey, so I'm putting them off to the backend of what I plan on playing on the 3DS. If those games and Xenoblade Chronicles are as good as they sound, I could conceivably what on the NX until I see a bundle I want, or a Christmas sale.

I always appreciate the humor in your articles and enjoy your writing in general. Thank you.

I've been wanting to play a game on its release for awhile. I tried with Rythm Heaven Megamix, but I'm terrible at those games, and got stymied at the first coin flip boss challenge. I'll give it another try with Dragon Quest and Tokyo Rumble.
