Nintendo Gaming / RE: They should make a Zelda RPG.
« on: October 04, 2004, 08:31:31 AM »
A great story with awful gameplay makes a bad game.  If a game is not fun to play its not woth playing.  Xenosaga has a great story behind, but unfortunatly you spend as much time watching it as much as you do playing it.  And the playing part of it needed work.  therefor you have bad game.  Great gameplay with a crap story however is amazing.  In fact, when a game is fun to play and the story if laughably outrageous then you win more so than if the story is good.  Viewtiful Joe is a great example of a game with awesome gameplay and a ho-hum story that works for the game.  The zelda stories are good.  If you have some imagination the stories are great.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS vs PSP....devs and journalists debate
« on: October 04, 2004, 08:20:26 AM »
All those ideas are great, well most of them are pretty good, but I'm old school.  Give me ken and jhun fighting against blanka and K' using buttons to fight and switch.  Hell I'll take a game like isuka with mass chaos going on at all times over the two screens with conventional fighting mechanics.  As nice as a touch screen is and the dual screens are great, no one is going to make the simple fighting games the right way.  They'll all be forced to either use fancy features and lose some of the fun factor, or get critically blasted for not innovating the fighting genre.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS vs PSP....devs and journalists debate

PSP has Fighting games, DS doesn't. Sure DS has a lot of innovative features, but I'm afraid that developers might feel intimidated later on in its life cycle when they can't think of new features.  The press will give their games crap ratings because it doesn't innovate like the games did two years prior.  Also the DS doesn't have fighting games.  The two screens are cool, but some games are a little harder to play on two screens, one would be better for a lot of games (figting games and some shooters) and developers won't make those games for DS if it only uses one screen because everyone will flip out because it doesn't use all the features.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS Launch Titles
« on: October 03, 2004, 04:43:59 AM »
More than one game built in would be overkill.  Pictochat will garner more use than a tamogachi game.  They're probobly using that game in the commercials for more mainstream appeal.  Besides, its cute and will sell to people like who like cute.

Second sight is ungodly easy.  Your psi-powers refill at a breakneck pace.  Rent it and beat it in a couple sittings if you want.  (psi-ops is a slightly better game but not by much)

General Gaming / RE: Fable Commercial
« on: October 01, 2004, 04:21:17 AM »
The biggest problem with fable is there's not enough good stuff out there to make you want to be good.  The game screams out go be evil.  Someone needs to make a morality game where its not sooo easy to be a bad guy.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Remember Ogre Battle?
« on: October 01, 2004, 04:09:09 AM »
Which means no more ogre battle games.  I think Square knows how much the five people that have played the games love it.  Square is getting on this Madden thing right now with making a new FF game every year, which leaves little time for another franchise to get the attention it deserves.

Nintendo won't be prodicing any ogre battle games.  From what I understand Atlus actually owns the rights to the franchise, but quest is with squenix.  That means there won't be any more ogre battle games until atlus finds someone else to develop them.  Seeing as how Ogre Battle has arguably one of the most hardcore cult followings amungst RPG fans they don't want to go out and ruin their bread winning series any time soon.
Which ogre battle game do you have? There's a few of them out there.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo + Zodiac
« on: September 29, 2004, 03:29:58 PM »
I am forever intering little internet contest and never winning.  Until now, in the mail today I got a Tapwave Zodiac with a copy of Doom II.  I must say that I'm enamored with the system.  Now you may be wondering what this has to do with nintendo.  Right now nonthing, but anyone who's played with the thing knows how cool it is, and it really isn't that much different from the DS.  The graphics are similar and it has a touch screen, the only thing its missing is the second screen.  I'm thinking that nintendo should take a good hard look at the Zodiac and consider purchasing the company, or at least liscensing them to create hardware for the next Gameboy system.  If nintendo funded them and gave them trust to do what they wanted it could turn out spectacular.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Good news for GC from a 3rd party? Actually, yes.
« on: September 29, 2004, 06:05:41 AM »
Cube had better support three years ago.  And ever since launch its support has started dwindling.  One by one developers start pulling titles away from and pulling their efferts away from cube all together.  And nintendo's I am more holy than thou attitude sure doesn't help.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mock Revolution launch titles
« on: September 28, 2004, 05:53:29 PM »
Revolution won't see a resident evil game if everyone doesn't go out and buy RE4.  I'd wrather see Rogue squadron IV as a launch title (only if I could co-op the other three games levels online)  A mario game is a must.  Final Fight style beat em up, and the most important thing it could get is a kick ass 2D fighter.  Cube has one.  Not enough to reel in hard core gamers.  Get some capcom love and some SNK affection.  Some Sammy infatuation wouldn't be a bad thing either.

Actually cube has the worst third party sales.  If a game comes out for cube and any other system the other system will outsell gamecube 99/100 times.  Don't use soul calibur II as your ammuniton for this argument.  Even if Chaos theory comes out the same time as the other consoles, and has online multiplayer and split screen and all the features the others have and has better graphics than the PS2 version the cube version will sell the least.  Cube owners don't buy third party games, and really don't buy a lot of first party games.  Even great games like ToS sold poorly on cube.  I don't remember the last time I saw a cube game in the top five of the sales list.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Resident Evil 4 Discussion
« on: September 28, 2004, 05:02:26 PM »
From what I hear this might be the last time a nintendo console gets any biohazard love.  Kobayashi says there's no reason to beleive that resident evil will ever appear on a nintendo console again, it all depends on sales.

If that's real then the DS box art looks a hell of a lot like Dreamcast boxes

Someone do me a favor and tell me what is fact.  I don't care about speculation I want to know what's true and what's not.  It would be real funny if Warp pipe didn't really have anythng to do with DS.  All of your hopes and dreams shattered.

TalkBack / RE: Nintendo DS Launch Details
« on: September 27, 2004, 03:28:42 PM »
Food for a month a GBA and a Dreamcast should go for a lot more than a DS.  Anyway I don't forsee sony including anything in the PSP.  It'll come bare for however much it'll cost and you'll have to buy games for extra if you want to use it.

General Gaming / RE: PSP PRICE ANNOUNCED!!!
« on: September 27, 2004, 01:49:10 PM »
Its not real yet, but sony's not denying it to be true.  The real shocker as far as news goes is the fact that you'll need a $30 memory card for the games.  In all likelyhood its proprietary so you can't use any other cards.  I knew we were going to need memory cards, but 30 is a little steep for a handheld.

DMC 3 doesn't come out until february in the states.  GTA will be a million dollar seller, and Killzone will sell a bunches.   GT4 will sell over amillion now and a million later.  Sony could have released it six months ago with no features and it would have sold close to the millions.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: What old franchises should Nintendo bring back?
« on: September 26, 2004, 03:23:11 PM »
I think kid iccarus is coming back in a big way like metroid.  I think we've all seen it, and I think it has crept back into the shadows.  The game was never officially canceled, which leaves me to beleive that its going to pop up as a revolution launch title.  Probobly just wishful thinking, but I don't think the studio working on it is doing anything after their current project.

Gamespot by a penny.  They both give crap for trade ins. Especially old games.  I"m guessing you won't get much more than 20 for all the stuff you trade in at either store. Unless some of the games are quite new.

« on: September 25, 2004, 06:51:07 PM »
Fun games.  Darkstalker, KOF millenium match.  2D fighters are going to PSP, and those two games alone have me sold.  While DS has more going for it now ($$$$$$) and I will buy it nov 21. Next christmas time there will be more fighting games out for PSP and that's all I need.  Handhelds are great for fighting games, you don't need a huge attention span for fighting games.  I don't see any fighting games for DS coming soon so I can't fully back it yet.
