Sakurai did an Iwata asks once, I suppose he could take over although I don't think it's very likely.

Here's something interesting, according to some guy on reddit an article in game informer states that the character dlc released in Japan will be free in the western version of the game. While I wouldn't have minded paying for it I'm not going to say no to free stuff.

For the time being I don't think who the president is is particularly important since they will be following the course set by Iwata. As for someone who understands both the Western and Eastern markets, Kimishima is probably the best guy for the job. It's going to be interesting to see how he handles the inane questions of the shareholders, we should also hear the first details about the account system from him soon as well.

I like Layton. I played the first three games over a week-end each. But the early Layton sections of LvsW are really bad. Very wordy and annoying dialogue, and mediocre puzzles.
Fair enough then, the game has it's moments and I would say it's worth finishing if only for the music.

The box for Happy Home Designer should have a warning on it: Requires Imagination, because it sounds as though the game part of that game is barely even there.

"They wouldn't just sub a direct" Oh NOE would, and have even, it was strange.

From Ace Attorney 6 I would like to see more variety like in 5 with the mood matrix, the magatama and Apollo's thing. Also no more trail and error HP traps, I just got past a really frustrating part in 2 - 2 where you have 3 options; one is totally irrelevant and once entered is impossible to leave without losing HP, the next was just a loop that went nowhere and the third was the actual place you should show evidence but the way you get across the message seems like it there would be no way to get it first time using logic. I hate it when they give you psyche locks but don't tell you you can't actually do it yet, the bit with Pearl's ball drove me bananas since you could only progress by presenting a certain object without really ever being hinted at needing to do so. Oh and I am sorry for you Guillaume if you did not enjoy Layton Vs Phoenix Wright, In my mind Layton is easily superior but I can see how a newcomer may not get it without some background and hope you will one day give the series another chance.

Oh and my music suggestion made it in, the song like all good endings is a perfect blend of happiness and sadness.

Stop wasting your breath arguing with the thin air then and get yer self a Wii U, I can't imagine Mario Maker is the only game you would want on it. The 3ds hate is a vocal minority and I see no reason why the two cannot co-exist.

The answer is obvious no? One of these is a 10 and the others are not.

"Behold my demons!" "I'll end it thus" " Such is a samurai skill" "Pardon me!" "My demons are a bit different" "I see an opening"
SMT IV is awesome and I implore anyone to play it if they haven't already, same goes for Fire Emblem Awakening.

Looking forward to when this game launches in the west although I doubt it'll be post NX. If I were Nintendo I would place the 2016 Wii U line up as Pokken Tournament then Genei Ibun Roku #FE then Mario and Sonic then Pikmin 4 and finally Zelda.

In the mean time I'll get round to playing all those other Atlus games with characters that I don't recognise.

He's got a Pokei, Pokei Watch.

All in all a fairly uneventful press conference and it's a good thing they didn't hype it up before hand. Considering it sounds like it's just a Pokemon skin for something that basically already exists I'm not too excited for it, although that was a very well done trailer.

Huh they must have deleted it, maybe it contained something that was under embargo at the time. Lucky for us you can still watch it on twitch. http://www.twitch.tv/nintendouk/v/14237264
Also in related Nintendo UK news tomorrow they will put up a Q and A with Miyamoto about "Mario Myths", and on Friday 5pm British Summer Time they will stream Mario Maker with Charles Martinet.

As for developer courses there is a video with Igarashi of Castlevania fame https://youtu.be/-HqY6MaeUmw
And another with Michel Ancel known for his work on  Rayman and Beyond Good and Evil https://youtu.be/Q5MaKinEawc
Lastly one with Tezuka and Miyamoto playing Michael Ancel's level live at a Paris game seminar with an unshakeable feeling of E3 2003 deja vu. https://youtu.be/2TVSu9zF0e4

I don't think any of the environments suit Mario at all, but it's a good showcase for really cool different types of lighting that a Galaxy type game could benefit from.

Bear in mind that once upon a time, Nintendo said that Zelda Wii U was very close to completion. I'll believe that Pikmin 4 is actually releasing soon and on Wii U when I'm holding the case in my hands.
When was this? I can't find anything on it, do you mean Skyward Sword?

He's been talking about the next game in the Pikmin franchise for a while now, and I assumed it was just a hypothetical game, not something that's actually in development. I assume this is a quick sequel using Pikmin 3 assets to fill out the lineup, EAD 4 can't have only been working on Mario Maker all this time.

Fire Emblem Awakening is E X C E L L E N T for beginners in my opinion although it isn't a straight up RPG, if we are talking about typical RPGs why not Pokemon? It's not too punishing and never bogs you down with stats and numbers if you don't care about that stuff, if you want you can complete the game with Pokemon that just look the coolest and have cool attacks. If you are new maybe go for X/Y, but if you want a premium cream of the cream pokemon experience you owe it to your self to play Heart Gold/Soul Silver.

Dragon Quest is good as well, especially the Level 5 ones, since it is the origin point at which all jrpgs stem from it doesn't concern it's self too much with gimmiks and trying to stand out from the crowd.

I really did not like Valkeria Chronicles, it seems like the game was made for me but I found the progression of soldiers to be incredibly boring and the story went off the rails pretty quickly. I also didn't enjoy the tactical elements either, it was mostly; A rushing an enemy and putting bullets straight into their heads until they die as you stand directly adjacent to them, or B 360 no scoping them with a sniper rifle from the other side of the map and killing them in one shot. I've yet to buy Code Name Steam but it bombed so hard the fire sales are getting hard to resist.

For ending themes I would like to suggest the ending theme for Super Mario Land for Gameboy, I've never even played this game but the ending theme is just incredible.

Just picked up a copy of Dragon Quest 8 from a used game store for £10! Seems though Square Enix has no intention of bringing the remakes to the west so it looks like I'll be playing it on PS2.

I just took Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate online for the first time, I have 7 new friends in my friends list and an extra 10 hours on my activity log. I can't think of the last time a single anything has held my interest for such a prolonged period of time, without breaks! My only complaint is that you cannot free type during a hunt, sometimes I would want to tell my team mates something really specific but just couldn't. Nevertheless the netcode is excellent.

I hate raining on parades but I feel some 104 style corrections are in order.

-First of all the majority of the "What we know" section is just rumor and speculation.
-Wii U and Xbox 360 have similar architecture making ports between the two easy, the main reason Wii U hasn't got 3rd party support is because of terrible software sales.
-Final Fantasy 14 is not the next Final Fantasy.
-Ready at Dawn were talking about Occulus Rift development, not NX.
-German Company Factor 5 helped develop the N64, Gameboy and Gamecube.

That sounds quite reasonable as far as rumours go. However one thing I just can't get my head around is the lack of an optical disc drive, just why? I really don't understand, are they too expensive for Nintendo now in this authors fantasy land? Games just sell more at retail than they do on the eshop, it's just a fact. I'm sure Nintendo could give consumers the option to go digital only with a cheaper sku, but to force people to get N or get out just seems like suicide and goes against what makes Nintendo Nintendo.

The piece of evidence that damns this for me though is backwards compatibility, I would not be able to accept a reality in which Nintendo goes through the tremondous monolithic amount of effort and money to make the NX backwards compatible with Wii U, but you can only play your physical games through the use of an external optical disc drive. Hahahahahahah no.

On another note I think the hand held being replaced before the console isn't stupid. The 3ds came out basically 2 years before the Wii U came out, plans get set in motion and schedules are planned out years in advance. It's not as simple as "Oh no we need a new console, better stay up and design one up overnight!" Nintendo would have realised that the Wii U was a failure and beyond saving around December 2013, if the theoretical NX console isn't ready before the theoretical NX handheld then there is nothing they can do about that.

Pokemon Shuffle is casual baby trash, real men play Pokemon Link/Trozei, avoid the 3DS version, the one you're looking for is the DS version. From what I remember it's basically the dark souls of puzzle games.

Another pick up and play game is Puzzle and Dragons Z + Super Mario Bros. Edition, I don't actually own the game but I tried the demo and it was somewhat enjoyable planning and setting up combos. You can also find it for quite cheap I think.

Yes it is important to consider that the way a word is said in Japanese will not match the way a word is said in English, making direct translations and lip syncing mutually exclusive.

I appreciate what they did with Skell but the problem is it's just an ugly ugly word, like first you have the S sure that's an S, what harm can an S do? They you have the K it's unusual to SK so close to each other but it's not unheard of. Skeleton for example. Next up is E, whew finally a vowel, but then we have L and then another L. Sk-Ell huh? Well that just can't do, ya see imagine a sine curve, you start with the middle of the road S at 0 degrees, then you go to 90 for the harsh sounding K then way down to 270 for the soft E then back up to 360 for the middle of the road LL. Where as with Doll it's a cosine graph starting with the harsh D sound, then down to 180 for the soft vowel O then back up for LL at 270.

Another way we can show Skell is an ugly word is using it's ASV, or average scrabble value.
For Skell the average scrabble value is (1+5+1+1+1)/5= 1.8
For comparison Doll is 1.25, Gundam is 1.67 and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is just 1.3.
I suppose Mech is also a very ugly word however it's been around so long everyone is just used to it being ugly.
