Hey man, what's your inbox look like these days?  I bet you didn't think that posting on our boards would get you this much recognition eh?  Our site's even slowed down because of all the people wanting a look at your sword.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Sick of Ganon?
« on: March 09, 2004, 10:36:09 PM »
I'm still not satisfied with the 3D Ganon's we've had so far.  OoT's Ganon was really big and slow, and easy if you know the pattern.  Then you had the weird puppet master stuff in WW.  I did like the final WW battle with Ganondorf's dual swords, but it seems like it got easier in the US version.

What I want is a mid-sized Ganon similar to the one in LttP. He'd still have a fair bit of agility and he'd be wielding that three-pronged staff of his and shooting flames in all directions.  Give me a 3D Ganon fight that's intense even after the tenth time, and not some guy with a cheap weak point.

Well, I've been looking over artwork from LttP to SC2, and I think that the only difference between Paul's sword and the art is in the thickness of the blade.  The blade does seem to be thinner and flatter in the art (and perhaps there's a practical reason for the thicker blade)  but everything else about this sword seems to be remarkably faithful to the artwork.  If I did have my own done, the flat surfaced-blade would be the biggest difference.  Not sure if I would actually go with the blue hilt from later designs or stick with the LttP silver.

I'm pretty interested in seeing if MS can continue to carry as many PC developers with a more specialized box and no hard drive.

Yeah, it was a good presentation.  The thing that strikes me though is that your link is from Nintendojo, who as far as I know, weren't there.  I saw IGN, G4, GameSpy, Game Informer, 1Up, Newsweek, and heard Variety was there, but Nintendojo?

I think one big factor with Xbox that a lot of people are missing is that since it's based on PC architecture, it's like getting two ports for the price of one.  Once you get it running on Xbox, you've done most of the work for a PC port and can get two SKUs out of that development.  The GC has an entirely different architecture and smaller media, which makes those poor sales stick out even more.

TalkBack / RE: Prince of Persia Takes Home the Awards
« on: March 07, 2004, 12:21:25 AM »
hmm.. Well I'm not sure what you mean by that.  I don't think PoP deserved so many awards, but it certainly should have gotten some of them.

It was developed the same way as one of Miyamoto's games for the most part.  They worked on basic gameplay concepts they wanted to integrate first, spent a long time tweaking them and working on the game map, and didn't integrate the art style or story until near the end.  I saw some of the early videos in Vegas and the game looked drastically different, but played almost exactly the same.

SAN FRANCISCO - March 5, 2004 - Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game companies, was awarded nine prestigious awards last night in Las Vegas at the 2004 Interactive Achievement Awards, including Best Console Game of the Year for its blockbuster hit Prince of Persia The Sands of Time™. Prince of Persia The Sands of Time took home more awards than any other game in the industry, including: Computer Action/Adventure Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Platform Action Adventure, Outstanding Achievement in Game Play Engineering, Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering and Outstanding Innovation in Computer Gaming. Yeah, that's awesome.  I want one, but I don't think I'll have that kind of money for some time.

Matt and Craig were at DICE, so that's probably why you haven't seen a review yet.  Either way, I really feel that they've been covering it too much, and anyone that reads all of their bits on MGS is going to feel disappointed by the final game, simply because there aren't any surprises left.

Not true.  The only legal grounds anyone has is with games they already own.

You never know.  The problem with Louie is you never know if he's gonna find a cat lover or someone that's gonna call Animal Control.

The reason Nintendo says the DS isn't in competition with the PSP is because they were working on it before they knew about PSP.

2598
Oh hey, look at this, we're talking about online again.  Stay on topic next time.  I'm shutting this down since it seems no one's talked about PSP connectivity for a long time.  See my comments on the DICE panel discussion for a good contrast of Nintendo's online perspective compared to the other companies .
