The big question is: If companies were interested in this to begin with, why aren't more of them offering PC downloads NOW?

I'd guess that SK has one more game left in them for GC before they focus on a next-gen project.  They do seem pretty confident that they'll be collaborating with Kojima again sometime though.

The story's still up, the Talkback thread was just eaten -- which just sucks through and through.  I hope that other guy doesn't think we did it on purpose.  I edited in a link to this thread too.

This is one of those things that NOA and NCL have arguments about.  NOA would love to drop the price, but they're not getting the go-ahead from Japan.

On a similar note, it will be interesting to see how cheap NOA can get the Famicom Mini selections over here.

That game didn't go Player's Choice until a year after it came out, and they added Pac Man VS as a bonus.

Well with PoP you could easily turn off the tutorials and skip the visions.  I will admit that I couldn't stand the whole vision thing.

Actually, one of the things EA is interested in is co-developing franchises with Hollywood and getting both products released at the same time.  It worked pretty well for them with Lord of the Rings and both the games and the movies can share a lot of the same marketing resources.  Of course as gamers, we realize that trying to meet the screen date usually results in a crappier game.

I've never heard of these toys, but they're supposed to be this year's big fad or something.

Majesco Signs Licensing Agreement with 'Mighty Beanz' to Bring Popular Toys to the Interactive Entertainment Arena

EDISON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 2004--Majesco Sales Inc., the sole operating subsidiary of ConnectivCorp (OTC BB: CTTV.OB), today announced it has secured a licensing agreement with the popular toy collectible, Mighty Beanz. Under terms of the agreement, Majesco obtains the interactive rights to publish Mighty Beanz video games in North America.

Currently one of the hottest toy crazes with over 10 million pieces shipped in 2003, Mighty Beanz are like plastic Mexican Jumping Beans that feature zany and eccentric characters belonging to a specific "Bean Team." Each Bean Team is designated as Rookie, Advanced, Pro, SuperPro or Rare to signify their value, with the Rare Beanz being the most valuable. Over the last year, the popularity of the Mighty Beanz toys helped garner a nomination for "Activity Toy of the Year" award from the Toy Industry Association.

"Mighty Beanz has become a giant phenomenon in the toy world with a vast audience of dedicated collectors and fans of all ages," said Ken Gold, Vice President of Marketing for Majesco. "Majesco plans on creating an interactive entertainment experience that captures the same fun and contagious spirit of the toys."

I edited a few things here.  For one, "according to underground sources" was more like "according to Daniel Bloodworth's rampant speculation that was misinterpreted as news this morning".  Plus, I do think that Nintendo might try to pull this off here.  They are planning to bring over the wireless adapter after all.

When everyone else was talking about online during the panel discussion at DICE, Perrin mentioned wireless as an alternative that Nintendo is focusing on.  I have a feeling that this is the start of a very significant new strategy on Nintendo's part.
