Westworld was fantastic. So so good. 2018 to the next season though.

Although i did notice Nolan reused a line from the POI series finale Root says "is this now? or is this one of my memories?", Bernard says the same thing. Minor, but it made me want to watch that episode of POI again.

A Netflix renewal is all but guaranteed. Has there been any Netflix show that has been cancelled in season 1?

Two Amazon shows in S1 have already been cancelled this year.

Arrow - Diggle makes a better Green Arrow (more aggressive posture, tone, stance) than Oliver does

Also, how brutal was that cyborg takedown by Kara and Barry?!

But Ford has told Bernard this now, if Maeve comes into contact again with Bernard later she could become aware of this and potentially block his "administrator controls"

I think maeve may potentially be the key to Ford's downfall at some point in the future, because she already can manipulate the hosts, is aware of the differences of her existence at last, can stop other hosts from moving on her and even has some staff on her side

So this week The Grand Tour evolved into Edge of Tomorrow meets Call of Duty.

Their brand of ridiculousness lives on.

Arrival is a fantastic movie if you like The Next Generation's Darmok.

That's all i can say about that.
That episode frustrated me partially because it is very aggravating not being able to communicate.

I don't like that episode even though it produced the desired emotional response as it did it mostly by being bad. It really dragged on and there just wasn't enough material to fill the episode. I really wanted the episode to be over with, it was like pulling teeth.

It's is very pure old school sci-fi I will give it that.

I completely understand the aggravating part. But the strength (and the boredom) of it comes from trying to get past that. That's not very exciting to watch, admittedly.

Shows at risk of being dropped:

Gotham - As much as i like the art style, it's good moments (absolute insanity, looks and style) it cancels itself out with some hairbrained decisions (the music and tone is still very opposing and jumps from serious to comical and camp repeatedly, the recasting of Ivy into this hyper-sexual-but-still-under-18 reboot) and no real "aim" with what it wants to do.

Scream Queens - From a show from the same makers as American Crime Story, i don't get how this show is so wishy washy. Everyone else i know has dropped it and i can't see a reason to continue with it either.

Blindspot - Martin Gero was one of the best writers on the stargate franchise and his previous show LA Complex had some strong storylines and actors going for it. Blindspot, meanwhile, has a main character with a sour face all the time and several characters who feel like their stories are being dragged out over and over and over... one character finds a tape of him potentially being abused as a child, and has been stretching out or deliberately avoiding him watching it ever since

Is it worth watching the trailer?

I know nothing of the source material.

Holy **** West World that was one hell of a twist and the execution was just exquisite.

The scene where Teresa and Bernard find the house and he says "what door?" I didnt notice earlier in the same shot the door wasn't even there. Fantastic staging of that shot. I had to watch it twice to catch the details.

Jeffrey Wright is the ultimate geek. He doesn't even have to try... he just has the look.

Also, Westworld has been renewed. Alongside Insecure and Divorce.

Canada is building a wall to keep you all in! MWAHAHAH.

Attack of the Lindemann.

I think the movie was intended to sit outside the existing timeline in the same way how Guardians did.

I'm seeing this in 2D IMAX. The times lined up better for me.

Also, in Arrow is Curtis braiding his hair in all of his costumed scenes and then unbraiding it again back to an afro?! That takes HOURS

Ugh, some real bad writing happened in that episode and I fear it's going to get worse.

How so?

It did feel like it tried to stage these events just so Robbie had his chance in the prison at the expense of everything else though...

Jack Reacher. I weirdly kinda liked this for how extremely simple it was.

Plugabugz:  Since this might be the last movie for Hugh Jackman to play Wolverine, they wanted to tell another story.  It also seems they are trying to tell stories influenced by popular comics in the X-Men franchise.  Old Man Logan is pretty influential.

I personally like that they are jumping around and telling interesting good stories than just trying to continue a story.  I was also quite impressed with that trailer.

"They wanted to tell another story" seems to be the running theme of nearly the entire movie franchise though.

So Logan is not even going to try and continue the obvious setup at the end of the last film where Yukio leaves with him to go anywhere?

Nice to see that franchise is still a mess.

The best show based on a comic book on TV today is....... I can't believe i'd actually say this, but it's actually Lucifer.

The show has improved so dramatically; acknowledging the ridiculousness of its premise and jumping headfirst into the comedy. Tom Ellis is as perfect in the role as Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

321
Why? Other actors are able to juggle multiple roles in movies and shows, why not Cumberbatch? Or does he not want to travel between countries for filming multiple projects?

The problem is both Freeman and Cumberbatch was tied up doing Hobbit, Cumberbatch was on there himself plus Strange filming and Moffat is doing Doctor Who. So we wind up with 12-18 month gaps between each season. Cumberbatch can't do more Sherlock if he has to commit to a lot of Marvel films for the next few years.

I think it would be wise for them to wrap up the Sherlock series with a pretty little bow at the end of this new season/series.  It's a good show, but it is losing cultural influence with each long delay until the next series.

Call it quiets while you are ahead.

It's still pulling roughly 10 million people here each season (which for UK numbers is huge), so the delay hasn't made people get bored in any way.

322
Mind Bending Art.

We should all note Benedict Cumberbatch doesn't mind doing TV.

Even if he has hinted that taking on this role has basically killed off the chance of more Sherlock after season 4.

The premise of Lucifer is absolutely ridiculous, yet Tom Ellis alone holds the whole show together.

I can't remember where i read it, but someone said that Luke Cage's fighting style (most of the time, at least) is "annoyed".

I couldn't agree more.
