TalkBack / Re: Fire Emblem Fates Shattering US Sales Records
« on: February 24, 2016, 07:12:18 PM »
I can't believe some people still try to spout the BS that this was 1 game split into 2.  That is not the case. Both games are the same length as a normal Fire Emblem game. So with the bonus 3rd story, it's basically 2 1/2 games.

Better than a lot of anime

The anime was pretty good, I think I stopped watching around the time that they switched dubbing companies,

For the record, I live in the US and these are the Amiibo i've bought

Mario (Smash Bros. series)
Classic 8-Bit Mario
Green Yarn Yoshi (from the Yoshi's Wooly World bundle)
Inkling Boy/Inkling Girl/Squid (bought the 3-pack)
Isabelle/Digby (bought the Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival bundle)

Great game, and still worth the asking price in many ways... but a curious release given how cheap and easily available the Wii disc still is. The pricing for RE4 is even worse than Zack & Wiki in this regard.

Why are you again saying Zack & Wiki is cheap to find? Physical copies of the games are usually at LEAST $45. So the best option to getting the game is the eShop version because it will be less than half of what you would have to pay for a physical copy. One of the reasons Zack & Wiki is so expensive is because it's pretty rare (it bombed in sales).

TalkBack / Re: Paper Mario Wii U Title In Testing?
« on: January 22, 2016, 10:31:00 PM »
Or they just use the Thousand Year Door's assets and core engine to make a Wii U sequel. Everyone felt that was the best for the series. I'd love to see a direct sequel because Nintendo tends to knock those out of the park, especially when they are in the twilight of a console's life and get really creative with them (Mario Galaxy 2, Pikmin 2, Radiant Dawn, Majora's Mask).

Radiant Dawn wasn't a late era release, it was a early era release. It was a Wii game released 3 months after the system launched. MM got panned critically and in sales, it was only like 2 or 3 years ago that it suddenly started getting a lot of love.

With all indications that NX won't come out til next year (no way is it coming out in 2016, and no credible source thinks it will either), a new Paper Mario game would help be a great holdover for Wii U. Hell, i'd even be happy if they started finally selling GameCube games on the eShop so I could download Thousand-Year Door.

I'm glad they are making the change. Gay conversion therapy is cruel, inhumane, and conveys the false message that being gay is somehow wrong or a choice. Nintendo can and should fully support gay rights, which some of their games do.

Awesome to see Zack and Wiki coming out on Wii U... although I still question the value proposition when the game can be easily purchased in physical format for less.  But hey, it's the digital revolution!  Paying more for less is a thing now!

Most places are charging $40 or more for physical copies, even higher for a sealed copy. So the eShop version is more than 50% cheaper than you'll pay for a physical copy.

I find it difficult to believe that they'd lock an entire dungeon (at least a worthwhile one) behind an amiibo without having any other way of unlocking it in the game. That would be disappointing, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now based on the fact that they haven't done anything that egregious with amiibo before.

Link's Awakening DX had a dungeon you could only complete if you played it on a Game Boy Color. So it's not new. Besides, the game comes with the Amiibo you would need, so it wouldn't cost you extra. And it would be about time they really required Amiibo for something important

I had no interested in Amiibo Festival until I saw Peanut Butter Game and SpaceHamster do a 2 part video on it. It looks a little bit fun (just not $60 fun).

Bayou Billy arrives, but can't be bothered to bring Contra along with it. Insane.

Which I don't understand. They have given us the sequel (Super C) and the SNES one (Contra III: The Alien Wars), but not the original game.

It's Shadow Mewtwo, not Dark Mewtwo. Nice bundles

TalkBack / Re: Nintendo To Adopt International Rating System For eShop
« on: October 30, 2015, 09:44:48 PM »
I'm sure that's what Nintendo tells them, but I wonder how true that is? They don't require Korean publishers for eShop games in South Korea, Italian publishers for Italy, etc. Look at Europe, they don't require publisher of eShop games there to have support for every local language.

I still don't know why Nintendo requires a Japanese publisher for eShop games. But, this is very good news for indie developers and hopefully it encourages them to release more games on Wii U and 3DS since they will be saving a lot of money.

This is appearing as one of the worst reviewed Zelda game from Nintendo, right now it has a 74% average on Metacritic (the next worse is the free DSiWare release Four Swords Anniversary Edition at 85%). Most reviews i've seen seem to say the same thing: unless you have 2 local friends to play the game with, it's not worth it as it's a mediocre single player experience and the netcode is not reliable. Hell, even Nintendo has admitted that many players will not be able to play it locally.

Tomo means twin in Japanese?

Tomo basically means "friend". So the title basically means Mii Friend, which fits the description of it.

Always funny when I see someone bitching about free DLC. The game was already great, this makes it better.

fred, of course you can go back and edit your levels to add these in.

Just got the game today (would have gotten it the other day but the Walmart I went to hadn't put it out yet), played through the first two levels and really enjoying it. While beating the game may not be hard, I can assure you that the real fun and challenge will be collecting all the Flowers, Stamp Patches, and Wonder Wools (which unlock a new designs for Yoshi when you collect all 5 from a level for a total of 55 new designs you can unlock). The music is great, the graphics are adorable, and it's a very relaxing game (in a good way).

It's TurboGrafx 16, not Turbo-Graphx 16.

TalkBack / Re: NX Development Kits Being Distributed
« on: October 16, 2015, 11:14:58 PM »
The system is not coming out in 2016, unless the launch only has a handful of games and those are all ports of existing games since only a handful of developers are just now getting development kits. A 2017 release is more likely.

It's very good news that the development kits are using top of the line chips. This could mean the NX is the first Nintendo console since the GameCube to be about equal to its rivals (since Wii was much weaker than Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and Wii U is weaker than Xbox One and PlayStation 4).

Soren, Nintendo provided documentation and good support to third parties with Wii U. It's Sony that has the reputation for not giving documentation to developers (especially with the PS2, Sony was infamous for intentionally withholding information about it so their first party games had an advantage).

I'm not rushing JonTron or anything, I just miss the regular stuff he does. Like I loved watching him talk about the Home Alone games (I had no idea about that European only Home Alone PS2 game that came out in 2005 but looked like a PS1 game), or talking about hacked Pokemon games, or even the different Barbie games.

Not really a fan of Minecraft TBH, so haven't checked out the Hardcore videos from him. I'm not much of a PC gamer, but PBG does have me slightly interested in the upcoming PC game Dungeon Defenders II (though I wonder why it's been out as a early access game on Steam since December 2014 and still isn't done).

I like JonTron, but he hasn't made many videos this year. ProJared is alright, I do watch his videos sometimes. I just like PBG's comments on games and his "PBG sucks at..." series. I also watch brutalmoose because for some reason I enjoy watching him play games like LEGO Island and Psychic Detective, and Pat the NES Punk (I just started listening to his podcast too and it has quickly become one of my favorites).
