Gamespot certainly has nice things to say about it. Though it does seem to suffer from similar issues that other games in the genre have.

While there is an abundance of similar games across various systems, this really fills a need on the 360 that Quake 4 was unable to fill. I'm looking forward to it. I wish I had the time to participate in the online matches this weekend.

I'm scared that I'm going to get used to pointing and shooting. It's going to become a chore to go back to the 360 or even Gamecube games and use the sticks to do all my aiming.

I think the Wii really will change how certain game aspects are considered. This must be why Miyamoto wants to re-release GC games with new controls.

Think of the new people who are drawn into gaming and decide to get another system, only to be dissapointed that the controls aren't the same.

Yeah, javascript and java have nothing other than the name in common.

Really the only web based programming language that wants variables defined is ASP, but even then its not required.

Javascript can be setup as a function in the <head>, embeded as I did in the example, or used as an external file and called from the page.

Best practice says to declare your variables and comment your code. I'll comment the complicated stuff, but not everything. And I rarely declare variables. I do if there's a chance that an outcome produces a result that doesn't define the variable and a script is looking for it later on.

So, now that I've got you going on the right path, what is the address of your site? I won't make any judgements, just curious.

Well, I wouldn't scale images by percent, but you could specify a width and let the browser figure out the height on its own. Or the other way around, specify the height and leave open the width.

Here's a clever thing to do with CSS and Javascript:

In the head put this:

<style type="text/css">
<!--
img {border: 0px;}
img.thumb {display: block; float: left; margin: 5px;}
-->
</style>

And in the body where you want to put your thumbs put this:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
thumbArray = new Array('thumb1.jpg','thumb2.jpg');
linkArray = new Array('link1.jpg','link2.jpg');

for(j=0;j< thumbArray.length;j++) document.write("<a href=\"images/" + linkArray[j] + "\"><img src=\"images/" + thumbArray[j] + "\" width=\"100\" class=\"thumb\" />[/url]";

-->
</script>

This creates a group that the script loops through and places each object of the group in a spot that corresponds with the number of the loop.

You can forgo the javascript and just use the CSS to set the width or height of the thumbs. The important parts are you need to specify "class='thumb'" in the <img> tag  and you need to add "width: 100px;" or "height: 100px" to the CSS line "img.thumb".

You can also make the Javascript easier by naming the thumbnails and larger images a number: 1.jpg & 1_lg.jpg for example. Then if you have 25 images you can do this:

<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
<!--

for(j=1;j < 26;j++) document.write("<a href=\"images/" + j + "_lg.jpg\"><img src=\"images/" + j + ".jpg\" class=\"thumb\" />[/url]";

-->
</script>

And you don't need to mess with the arrays.

I gave you some options, and if it helps, terrific. If you get lost, I'd say thats to be expected

When you look at the code of your site (where you can see your tags), every page needs the following tags:

<!DOCTYPE ...>
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

Somewhere after the <title> and before the </head>, add what I wrote and whenever you use <a href=""><img src="" />[/url] you won't need to add 'border="0"'.

Thats all. If you Google 'Cascading Style Sheet' (if you're so inclined) you'll see what else can be done with this wonderful tool.

If you have a number of image links, you can use a style sheet. Usually an external file, you can add it to the <head> section:

<style type="text/css">
<!--

img {border: 0px;}

-->
</style>

There is alot you can control using style sheets. Its makes formatting your pages a breeze and it allows your browser to render pages quicker than when using attributes.

Yes, I build websites for a living. Forgive me for answering a question already answered.

I'm really out of the musical world it seems. First, I have not seen Donnie Darko. Second, I have limited access to alternative radio. I have not heard this song before this trailer. I think its a haunting song. So I was amazed to learn that it originally was performed by Tears For Fears. I've been contemplating picking up 'The Hurting' for the song 'Pale Shelter', and this song just adds to it.

It may go against the grain but I kinda prefer the original, too. This accoustic version has its own vibe, but so does the original and I guess I'm more in tune with that one.

Either way, neither version really goes with the events on the screen. I hope Roland and everyone else involved got a big fat check from M $.

And on the tiny offshoot going on about cartoons, anyone remember 'Gilligan's Planet'? Or the Duke's of Hazard 'toon? I'm lucky enough to have 'Mighty Orbots' taped. Its a trip to see all those old commercials. I'd love for Boomerang to do an 80's day or something and bring back all those wasted hours just to waste more hours.

VG, I would absolutely love to sit down and play some games with you. And I don't say that with any tone of sarcasm. I really think you have a particular point of view that would be killer to play with.

That said, I love playing Halo2 online and agree with comments that its all about strategy, tactical thinking, and teamwork. And at times that serves as an escape from my reality.

I'm torn with Gears, I want to think it'll be awesome. But how many times have we been burned by the hype machine? (Black, anyone?) I want to hop down to the store and pluck down $60 as soon as its out, but I also want to wait and see what all the reviews report.

Back when the NES was king, I never knew when a game was supposed to be released, it was just out. Those were the days.

White sharks merely swim through the blue ocean nabbing the occasional fish.

Whale sharks filter huge volumes of that BLUE OCEAN for food. Whale sharks also have LONGer TAILs.

Hence, Nintendo == Whale Shark.

Say, thats pretty interesting. At least its in line with Nintendo's goals. While I was thinking about the White shark's ability to smell blood in the water from miles away and how Nintendo totally has a lack of taste for blood, they certainly want to gooble up any little thing that happens to get in the way. Nothing very aggresive, but still grows to be a monster.

Geesh, I'm a genius. Good job Kairon for making the connection for me. I'm in agreement.

Maybe a whale shark. Certainly not a Great White.

I really want to believe that Nintendo is turning around and making strides where they've stumbled in the past, but I'm not seeing it. Prelaunch parties have been done before, launch games getting pushed back has happened before, media getting hyped on a Nintendo system, its all like 2001 again.

Granted, the DS is making money for them, but how well was the Game Boy doing 5 years ago? All it took was a pokemon game to push sales through the roof.

Look, I think the pudding with the proof in it will arrive next summer and whether it shows up with a glut or a drought of games on the Wii. There needs to be at least one AAA title anounced each month, with releases staggered to appear like there is always something new to play. And popular titles need to have at least one follow up title that improves on the last. Sure, we had two Metroid titles, but what about Smash Bros? Mario? Zelda? How about an actual Pokemon RPG on a home console and not a lame stadium game? And pull in top tier 3rd party franchises. No rehashes. What if RE4 would have been created instead of REmake? Or a new Metal Gear instead of Twin Snakes?

Now we get Gamecube ports with slapped on controls. We all know the Wii can do better, and any publisher that tries to pull the wool should suffer for it. I hope that its just a stunt to pad the launch titles and it won't continue to happen, but I seriously doubt it. And thus begins my (our) love/hate relationship with Ubisoft. I'll support innovation, but I'll never support crap.

Oh man. Please cover your nipple. Put a little hat on it or something. Or I'm going to throw my nipple out there, too. (If only everyone would follow suit, there might be a few on these boards that might make it worth it... )

I know that you'd buy Captain N dvd's, wouldn't you? But if you find any Rayman Ravin' Rabbit figurines, please let us know.

Well, I didn't realize that IGN had that. I didn't get past their FEAR review to see what else was new in the section. I see also that IGN has a sampling of in game music. I haven't listened to it, but I will go back to it.

I must say though that I prefer seeing the commercial on my tv than my pc. No stuttering framerates and no commercial before the download.

Anyone else download the video yet? While it doesn't show anything about gameplay, the graphics sure are purty. The ending makes it seem like a challenging game if that is any indication as to what you have to fight.

Its a little unerving to watch the video and all that you hear is a song. At least the words are appropriate. And I think it sets to differentiate from Halo where it had its own personalized theme. If GoW utilizes some pre-recorded soundtrack I think it will help establish itself in a 'real world', gives an anchor. Of course, I totally don't expect to be playing the game and this song comes on at some point. I'm sure its just for the commercial to make an impact. But still, you know what I'm saying.

I totally beat that game. But it was after hearing about the pattern all the guys have. But I did beat it without going down...

Great movie. Great memories. The mom wasn't very convincing, and the girl running away crying sounded fake, but other than that, I was in that living room with the crowd cheering him on. And I was wearing my MAD tshirt ("Rush To The Bathroom By Willy Makit and Betty Dont").

I wish I had $3500 to spend on a tv.
Though it does remind me of how I spent $2500 on my first computer...

Before I got my current tv, I always bought Sanyo from Walmart. My first tv was a Sanyo from Wally World and it lasted a good 10 years plus a number of moves from one apartment to another. I currently have a 20" flat screen Sanyo in my bedroom that has awesome black levels. (I hate watching a widescreen movie and the 'black bars' are a different shade of black than whats in the movie.)

When I bought my widescreen EDTV, I don't believe Sanyo was doing hi-def stuff, and Wally World was definately not up to speed on the subject (they still aren't, IMHO). I have a Toshiba 42" rear projection monster. Manual says it does 480p, but strangely enough my 360 is able to output 1080i on it. 720p does nothing but a black screen. I'd like to hear if anyone has a theory on that (maybe its cause 480 and 1080 are in the same ratio??).

At any rate, I think my tv fits the bill wonderfully for the Wii.

I've been thinking about creating a site that holds a database of friend codes, or whatever type of code Wii uses. Keeping track of location is another thing I'd like to track.

I don't know about you guys, but once you're out of school, finding people who also play games in my area is about impossible. And I'm not going to hang out at Gamestop or EB. "Hey, you like the Wii? So do I, let's get together and play." How creepy is that?

I'm still thinking about the details. I want to avoid some of the traps that other 'social networking' sites fall into. Even if the location tracking isn't included, I'll still do a friend code db.

I read some other impressions from another city where there were more kiosks than what I got to see. Still no major games, but Tony Hawk was there (reported as buggy and the worse game at the show).

From reports out of the Gamestop managers meeting and the Fusion Tour, Metroid seems to be the most popular game at these things. Get to the show early and get in line fast for it.
