I can't get over Terry Cruz being the OLD SPICE GUY for him to do anything Marvel and take hime seriously. Rather an unknown or someone less "funny" to play Luke Cage, unless I don't remember the Comic as well as I think. Now Michael Jai White? Like that way much more.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Did "Dead Phoenix" become Kid Icarus: Uprising

According to the Capcom 5 article I just read, IGN speculated that this game was canceled and retooled in a New Kid Icarus game. While we know this not to be true, I feel better knowing my wrongness was not lonely.

So, about that HD sequel to Uprising...

I dropped out of SHEILD a few weeks ago, so I'm about 3-4 episodes behind. I think it is time to go back.

Sorry if this is old:

I was looking at some old videos and game across a promo for the legendary "CAPCOM 5". When the footage of this game showed up says to myself this looks a lot like Kid Icarus Uprising. See for yourself:

If you haven't played KI:U, stop reading and go get one of the finest games of all time. I you have played it, tell am I making this up? Did the studio responsible for Dead Phoenix later get absorbed into Nintendo? I don't deal in coincidence, life is far too vexing as it is. I remember the hype around the whole Capcom 5 back in the Planet GameCube days, good fun.

I own every system (no xb1) and I can honestly say that I am looking forward to Shovel Knight more than any other title this month. Does that make me a hipster?

What music, SOTN? true that music was awesome but there were huge carts at the time that could of fit that music, albeit compressed onto a cartridge? Maybe my ears are rosy, I remember symphony quality music on n64, (not as good as sotn).

So I could do sprites. Albeit the absolute worst type of sprites in the history of media. Then why didn't N64 get Street Fighter alpha, Darkstalkers, Castlevania or any other sprite based 2d game? Am I missing the connection the sprites and side scrolling games. Maybe my real question:

Was the Nintendo 64 incapable of doing true 2D games?

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Why should Nintendo drop the GamePad?
« on: March 05, 2014, 07:51:30 AM »
I love, love, LOVE the GamePad. I have a bunch of kids, nieces and nephews. (there are always kids in the house) My young ones wanna watch Disney Jr, I wanna play Super Punch-out. GAMEPAD. They wanna Youtube, I wanna watch Counting Cars. GAMEPAD. Wife watches those god-awful wedding shows, I wanna shoot myself or someone else. GAMEPAD. Nintendo looked into my blackened, torched soul and created this system for me.

I hope that the Mech controls for the next Star Fox game are on the GamePad like a cockpit view. I wanna be able to hack and modulate shield frequencies on the GamePad on the fly while still dodging enemy fire. so yeah GAMEPAD

I also feel the Vita's biggest hurdle initially was the Memory price. It was all kinds of ridiculous for any substantial size. I have a 4gb and a 8gb and both are not full. Have to reboot the system every time you swipe memory cards makes it an improbable solution. Also it should have been a phone or at least 4G.lte and it could have keep the 249.99 price tag.  The hardware is flat out amazing and I wish it had more support but Sony could always build a bridge they have trouble supporting it.

VS.

The Wii U has a serious image problem. From people not knowing what it is to folks at GameStop still calling it "kiddie", there is a perceived lack of EPICNESS on Wii U and from Nintendo, and if Star Wars has taught us anything, its that "your perception determines your reality".

At the end of the day, the Wii U will be able to sustain a stable marketshare of 8th Gen (20-25%) while the Vita's destiny is ironically death.

Vita = Firefly

Wii U = Futurama

I think this is a forgone conclusion, I know there are legal hurdles to overcome but your talking a cameo in the sequel to the number 3 movie of all time. GOING TO HAPPEN!

Side Scrolling Metroid on 3DS!!!

Is all this building toward AVENGERS 3, or is this just world building simply for the sake of expanding the brand. I don't have a problem with either, just curious. Plus even as currently constructed, Thanos wipes the floor with this roster.

Just because I saw a blatant Disney shot in the new spiderman trailer, I should not be excited right? Please tell me I am not to be excited. Does not take much for me to get hype folks.

I figure the emphasis on polygons was Nintendo wanting to push them as the hot new thing in videogames.  Funny to think how anti-2D they came across as then when now they seem to LOVE 2D gameplay.

I know that the Playstation sucked at 2D because it had no dedicated sprite processing hardware.  You created a 2D sprite game by making a flat polygon and texturing it with the sprite image.  I don't know if the N64 had a similar limitation.

Question? I've always heard the same thing about ps1 but is that "sucks" vs saturn or in general? Street Fighter looked solid,  Castlevaina looked good, well to me back then it did. Plus they had all those shumps that used sprites.

Damed newfangled polydusits, thank Hylia for the Ds family.

Ogre Battle 64 used 2D sprites for everything except the world map and spell animations.

I've been confusing this game with "quest 64" for the past 15 years. I have never seen any gameplay of Ogre Battle until 5 mintues ago. I am dumbfounded at my profound ignorance.

So I found my old N64 and 20 games in a storage locker that I have (that was about to be sold at auction no less) and all the games are polygon based. Even the 2d platformers like Yoshi and Mischief Makers are using 3D models. So my  question, could it not do sprites or was it just easier to develop 3d titles since the hardware was a bitch? I can't think of 1 sprite game, I feel like I'm overlooking something obvious.
