Nintendo Gaming / Amiibo: F2P Diablo Style game
« on: September 01, 2014, 02:16:55 PM »
This seem like a pretty good idea. Like a year from now if/when Amiibo is an established brand you could take your "Level 23 Samus" and drop her into a F2P adventure with other Amiibos from around the 'verse. Maybe its a NintendoLand sequel or a StreetPass type game I don't know. I don't even know how Amiibo work in MarioKart8 and that's in like a month or so.

Nintendo may have already said this was the plan/direction with Amiibo but I can't remember anything about it, save for how broke I'm gonna be come this holiday. What do you folks think NOT YOU IAN SANE*

(*J/K Bring it that lovable vitriol I've grown to appreciate over the years)

For free of course. I should be an app for 3DS and WiiU.  30 plus years of soundtracks, bleeps and boops just playing at random or in some sorta categorized fashion. I thought about how it's taken Fox 20+ years to do a Simpsons marathon and thought well Nintendo has just as much musical content as any other game company ( it may even rival a few small indie labels) why not?.

I know for a lot of NES and SuperNES games the legality of rights and royalties could be a bitch but much like Virtual Console only Nintendo could put out a catalog out, lose half and still have enough content.

I'm in the kitchen, roasting chicken chops and BAM, out if nowhere the boss music from 3D World Runner plays...

I guess it's sort of a double entendre and when I said it I meant it both as:

Rory = Roar = Tiger animal

Rory = Awesome Young golfer = Tiger Woods

In this P.C. world (thats why I use a mac, bitch) can we still make slightly off color remarks about rich people who get paid millions of bucks to play games or is that no beuno?

3wood mii knees if this is old hat!

Play Nintendo - Super Smash Bros. Invitational @ E3 2014 - YouTube

I hope this means GameCube VC coming to Wii U. Also, Holy **** @ WaveBird prices, I had no idea.

Nintendo Gaming / Hyrule Warriors: Ganondorf lives on planet Vegeta
« on: May 21, 2014, 07:41:13 PM »
I was low on this game as a simple Dynasty Warriors spin off but Good Lord this game! I'm mobile right now  so I can't link the  New photos but when I get home. I'm not expecting a "real" Zelda game but this is looking most promising! I'm also surprised there isn't already a discussion topic about this here but no worries we'll get that done now.

Nintendo Gaming / So my Nexus 7 just asked to sync to my Wii U?
« on: May 13, 2014, 01:23:44 AM »
How did I not know this was possible?  So far I believe it only works with YouTube, meaning I can be watching a video on my tablet in me bedroom (upstairs front of the house, GamePad can't reach) and send it to the main Tv downstairs. The lag is not noticeable if any at all. My thinking is this should be the jump off for a bonafide

 "Nintendo App"

Why can't I stream any and all content from my tablet/smartphone to my Wii U? The Gamepad, while awesome is merely a bridge to the internet or internal Wii U HD and can't store data. Furthermore, since the Wii U doesn't seem to be getting HBO GO or WWE Network anytime soon, i was hoping this could be a solid work around much like how people sideload content on Ouya.

Any other useful idea's or is this just a novelty of a app that already is already dead?

and I think I want the WiiU Zelda to be a direct sequel to this game. I have some issues with SS and it's not my favorite Zelda game by a fair margin, but the things that the game got right, was RIGHT! Presentation on the whole was outstanding. The story, I feel is one of the better of the mainline series and the villain was flamboyantly well done with personality and vigor. Gameplay is my biggest problem but thats another topic indeed. While I don't want an HD remake, remaster, definitive edition, redux , remix or any other adjustment to this game, I feel like the world building that was created here and manifest in future games needs to be fleshed out.

I like the art style from both NintendoLand and "Tech Demo" as well, so if they were to go that route I would not oppose.

*Always name you character "Link", it's the right thing to do!

Now I know that the "transitive property of mathematics" doesn't translate to Video Game console graphic prowess. So the fact that the Wii U is by most accounts more powerful than a PS3 and less powerful than a PS4 doesn't mean that every Wii U game will look better than the same game on PS3 and worse than PS4.

As for racing games NFS: Most Wanted Wii U looks better than its ps3 brother, and by a fair margin even to these old eyes.

NO WAY!

This could be a very short thread (and not my first) but there is no way this game will look this good on wii u right? Are these dudes from an alternate timeline?

Nintendo Gaming / GAMEPADS ARE REGION LOCKED! Well...
« on: March 20, 2014, 12:31:19 PM »
Who's genius idea was this? My kids dropped the GamePad down the steps. While it didn't break, I wanted to grab an extra pad when the inevitable happens (also I think there will be games that support 2 pads announced @ E3). So I called Nintendo and the GamePad is NOT covered under the 12month warranty. Although I feel that's strange in itself being that it's an integral part of the system, I won't argue the point. Then I asked how much to repair a PAD, $95.00 plus tax and shipping. Hell for all that I might as well import a new one from japan. NOPE, I won't be doing that. Seems there is a region specific firmware that must be.....awe who gives a ****. This is just dumb. Games I understand but controllers? Controllers that can't play anything without the system? Why? There are plenty of people here that are smarter than me and can explain this to me. Can you boot the system from a Pro Controller? That may be an option.

For a company that caters to adults and kids alike, they seem a bit oblivious to the family dichotomy of having a controller with a screen.

Nintendo Gaming / Did "Dead Phoenix" become Kid Icarus: Uprising
« on: March 07, 2014, 11:24:10 AM »
Sorry if this is old:

I was looking at some old videos and game across a promo for the legendary "CAPCOM 5". When the footage of this game showed up says to myself this looks a lot like Kid Icarus Uprising. See for yourself:

If you haven't played KI:U, stop reading and go get one of the finest games of all time. I you have played it, tell am I making this up? Did the studio responsible for Dead Phoenix later get absorbed into Nintendo? I don't deal in coincidence, life is far too vexing as it is. I remember the hype around the whole Capcom 5 back in the Planet GameCube days, good fun.

Nintendo Gaming / Was the Nintendo 64 incapable of doing sprites?
« on: February 18, 2014, 08:08:40 PM »
So I found my old N64 and 20 games in a storage locker that I have (that was about to be sold at auction no less) and all the games are polygon based. Even the 2d platformers like Yoshi and Mischief Makers are using 3D models. So my  question, could it not do sprites or was it just easier to develop 3d titles since the hardware was a bitch? I can't think of 1 sprite game, I feel like I'm overlooking something obvious.

Nintendo Gaming / Are indie games the "New" 3rd party?
« on: January 25, 2014, 04:20:29 PM »
2014 is shaping up to be a great year for the Wii U, in house. The confirmed tittle include, DKC tropical Freeze, MK8, Bayonetta 2, x2 and others. For me, that's plenty. However I am quite aware of the appetites of the playing masses and the required versatility in genres. Other than Ubisoft, Sega and  few others, support is tatooine over the next 12 months. Except for one group.  Thanks to UNINTY, the amount of indie titles on the forefront for the Wii U is almost staggering. While a good many of these titles are platformers, there is quite the number of possible gems in this vast list:

This will not replace the GTA's and MGS of the world but thats not why you brought a Wii U is it? It is also insulation against a major gaming crash but thats another topic. What say you, is there a Minecraft hiding amongst the huddled masses of garageband style developers?

Nintendo Gaming / Can the Wii U Multitask? (in theory)
« on: January 18, 2014, 03:16:36 PM »
Can 2 apps work at the same time? I want to watch netfilx on the tv and use the browser or Miiverse on the GamePad. Since the Wii U can use 2 gamepads simultaneously, I would think this would be an option easily added from a firmware upgrade. What say the you?

OUYA!

What in the blazes am I supposed to do with this thing? I mean, I'm not complaining since it was free (Entertainment Tonight sent it today) but what does it do? It's not quite a Roku(no hulu or netflix) and it's not just an Android tablet. It reminds me of a Vita Tv from what I know of that device. It has ok specs and it looks like I can get XBMC and VLC to work but other than that, I'm looking for guidance on my BRAND NEW OUYA!

Any other owners in here wanna help me out with some basics and secrets?

General Gaming / The Gaming Year in Review: song (MegaRan)

Even if you're not a fan of the genre, you'd have to admit this is pretty good. He's clearly a "gamer" as well as a dope emcee.

And again I'm talking the physical design of the hardware. So I'm rearranging the living room and had to move our router, cable box and gaming systems since my son is about to start crawling. Long story not as long The Wii u is the main living room console now (mainly cause of off TV play). I'm looking at this thing now like "could you be more boring to look at" like a generic action movie of the early 2000's. Now I know that the look doesn't make "that" big of a difference in terms of gameplay, features and blah blah blah it's about as safe of a design that I can think of in the last 20years hyperbole in all. Not just Nintendo either, every other console since PS1 looks "better" or at least tries to. I would rather it be ugly rather than white bread.

As I type this I'm now thinking this safe, no frills, stoic "romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts" approach may also be the problem with the company itself.

I'm not sure if there is something more I should be doing, I ran updates and hard reset my WiiU but anytime I open up a Youtube video my system freezes. Any Suggestions?
