In my opinion RMC is even worse than IGN.

IGN at least does something besides click-whoring. From time to time.

RMC and many other unofficial sites with "*nintendo*" in their names are the hit-baiting 24/7, non-stop.

Regurgitating years' old interviews as new to keep the flow coming, publishing unfounded rumours without even giving it a thought of fact-checking them, not giving a credit from where the original news came from and many, many other things like that, just make shake my head and enter these sites in my url filter list so that i wouldn't visit them even by mistake.

Editor is a job when people do some work and research and actually edit stuff when they reprint.

RMC doesn't do any of that. He just copy-pastes and then takes all the credit for getting "scoops".

There is a reason you can't even mention name of his site on neogaf.

A non issue.
It is an issue.

Just not a lot of people are touched by it.

But you know, when you're being silent about when they start coming after minorities...

PS. I don't care really, it's probably a technical issue rather than artificial obstruction, but it is stupid nonetheless.

Judging from the list author hasn't played Rhythm Heaven Fever.

Because it would be #1 if he did.

But if you can finish the game in one normal sitting, it is too short really to be GOTY. A game can be too long, but it can be too short too.
I've played Mark of the Ninja for less than half an hour. I am more than content about placing it in my list.

I forgot Trials: Evolution -- also a great game, very deserving of GOTY. And i only played a demo of it. I played it for five hours or so, replaying the same demo levels. I am in closed beta for PC port of it though.

You should check out Wonder Woman, it is the best by far in entire DC Animated series.

The whole creating webs from his body thing was a Sam Raimi idea
NOPE.

It's James Cameron's idea from his version of the script that was never made into a movie. The one where he rapes MJ or something.

I like organic version, it makes more sense.

Also, SSM >>>>>>>>> SM:TAS. SM:TAS had it's moments though.

I never read long articles on main site.

I just don't.

Confusing layout, annoying ads all over the place and small reading space make reading anything longer than one paragraph a pain.

This is a great way for me to check out articles and features i missed. Thanks to everyone who contributed and who made this compilation.

The overwhelming majority of games i played in 2012 are from previous years, and out of those like 10 or so of this year's games that i DID play, there simply aren't that many are "game of the year" material.

So i had to prop my list with games from previous years that were technically released this year in my region.

Mark of the Ninja:
I have played 27 minutes on this game, according to Steam.

And i loved every millisecond of it. The originality, polish, gameplay, style -- so good, soooo gooooood.

I can't wait to plow through other games to start this one proper.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
Once i got through control scheme (i had to resort to finger thumb stylus), the game became one of the most fun games i ever played. And yes, dual analog is actually inferior to this scheme, yes even on land.

The dialogue, script, characters, multiplayer, and cinematic experience (not usually seen in Nintendo developed games) coupled with Sakurai's attention to gameplay make for an amazing package.

Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise
Music is a very big part of my enjoyment in games, as i recently discovered. Just good music without fun "gamey filling" won't cut it for me though. Good that RH series is consistently great with both.

WarioWare team at it's best, quirky, strange, cute, charming, original and very, very tough.

Oh and thanks to NoE for dual soundtrack, not that it was needed all that much this time around, the translation is very good this time.

La Mulana
Music, gameplay, exploration, graphical style.
Too bad about those controls.

VVVVVV
This is actually my 2010 GOTY. Thank Nicalis for transplanting it here. Not really much to say about it what hasn't been said.

If you're interested about the game's development you can read developer's blogpost about it, i guess.

"Close but no cigar" category:
Hotline Miami -- this bug and glitch infested pile has glorious soundtrack, style and gameplay

"GOTY? This? Are you for real?" category:
FTL, Walking Dead

Okay, so i've advanced a bit after lat moment and realized "hard mode" that me reading that tablet second time activated is making me waste too much time (like waiting when those egyptian ghost turn around and stuff).

So i started the game from the scratch.

I remember what i should do more or less clearly so i am already at second boss with 1 hour 21 minutes.

Second time around the game definitely flows much better when you know what does what.

Loving the game so far, especially music.

PS Controls are busted though, especially jumping and swimming.

I'd liked it if they ported WarioWare:Twisted.

Not sure if i'd double dip, i just want more people to experience this glorious game.

There is a "Defense" missing somewhere in the title.

Didn't some NP-inspired fan magazine released a month or so ago already?

Sounds like you've explored everything you can in the main area and need to move onto the next major area of the game.  At the bottom of the second vertical shaft, you can continue to the right and eventually make it to the elevator.  That area is where you need to be exploring.  You're not too far away from getting the freeze beam and the hi-jump boots, so keep at it.
Thanks for your useful post. I wandered around and found a winged boots and found a new area way down.

Now how should i draw it since i'm out of space on this A4 paper...

Just curious about one choice.

In Mausoleum of Giants there is a plate says "do not read me a second time". So i didn't.

Well a week later i got curious and did read it. I heard a sound like a solved a puzzle and some flying pharaoh thing appeared. And monsters in all levels got harder and there are just more of them now.

Should i proceed? Or is it better to start anew? I really have no problem with increased difficulty, i'm just asking.

I blame you for NL and Mario votes becoming equal.

I had similar experience with Swapnote.

I just randomly drew something, then other guy replied with continuation of the story and we hit it off and it went on for ten or so panels.

I think it started with some kind of retarded picture of a girl or something with a bow. There was something with a dog humping her leg or something i don't even remember. Then it sat on park bench. Then other guy drew a tentacle monster right beside the the bench, and i drew it eating the girl. A few drawings later we had TMNT turtle in a bar meeting that crudely drawn ctullhu-like tentacle monster and drinking beer together. Then they ended up in bed and then i in a fit of inspiration i drew that monster being blown from inside by that eariler girl alien style, on the next morning while turle was still sleeping.

The last pic was angry TMNT turtle showing that little girl way out, like "GTFO! You killed my monster".

Yeah... Pretty stupid but amusing.

It helps immensely when you're one of mere five DD offerings on console launch.

It's still blue ocean out there.

If you're talking about indie devs, any kind of unrelated popular proprietary digital shop isn't the ideal way supporting them. Steam, eShop, App store, XBLA and the likes take significant cut of the sale for themselves, and then put your game on sale with ridiculously low price (with your permission i gather, but still).
How can you call yourself a supporter of the game XX, if you bought it on Humble Bundle or Steam sale for one dollar some months after it was released?
If you want 100% of your money to go to devs, go for the official shop on their site, if available.

As to niche console games... I really don't think buying them on full retail price on eShop will give devs more money than usual sale. More likely Nintendo will take the difference.
