TalkBack / Re: Pushmo World Announced for Wii U
« on: May 30, 2014, 01:57:28 AM »
What appears as fetish to americans isn't even a blip on a radar for majority of the world.
I actually watch a lot of sumo, and i don't get any weird feeling, maybe because i am not conditioned to think that anything showing off a bit of skin is supposed to be sexual.

TalkBack / Re: GameCube Controller Adapter Announced for Wii U
« on: May 30, 2014, 01:09:15 AM »
The adapter they're gonna use on Invitational is the different one:

I have a suspicion it will only work for Smash on Wii U, because otherwise they'd have to rewire a lot of things inside the OS (UI for one).

Lord.  Luigi is taller than Mario so that would be HUGE.
That's what Daisy said.

Batman Arkham Origins on eShop sale. It's downloading right now. Hopefully my old ass IDE hard drive won't crap out and by the time i come home, it will be done.
Fallblox (Pushmo) on eShop sale. I already had it on my previous original 3DS, but i lost it. Discount was all i waited to rebuy it. Played it a bit.
Yeah, first 18 levels definitely hold your hand A LOT with tutorials, but back when i got it two years ago i didn't notice it because push/pull mechanic was all new for me, and i think i definitely needed help there learning. It only gets tedious when you're playing it second time.

M2K(Mewtwo King) is not here as expected because he is socially awkward weirdo who can't control himself. Yeah he has Aspergers but it's not even about that. He's a self entitled jerk and a wild card. With this being held by Nintendo they don't want any of his nonsense.
From what i seen on latest videos (yes, i know i said i am horrible at Smash and know very little but i DO want to get better so i watch some videos here and there), he got a lot better with that.

Just yesterday i watched a video with M2K and Ally and they were just having a LOT OF FUN styling on each other and picking completely random characters:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bca_koVxqWE

First M2K picked Mario (that he was never seen playing with before) and taunted each time he killed Ally, then he picked Bowser (Bowser!) and started styling all over him even more with taunts all over the place. You could even see on camera how much fun they both were having -- a stark contrast to usual "awkward face" M2K does when he wins a grand championship or something where he usually freezes when people touch or hug him to congratulate.

Also while i am on M2K vs Ally i highly recommend watching Brawl Grand Finale of Apex 2009. I got asthma fit by the end because of unbeliavable amounts of concentrated HYPE by the end. Such an exhilatating fight all the way to the climax finale: you could literally hear audience screaming their guts out and going completely bonkers there.

The main problem i expect is that Nintendo wants it to keep PG and invited people who can control themselves and won't cuss randomly or stuff like that. I gather that's why we also don't see Mango there, because he has Joker personality.

You should have outgrown the thinking that everyone are out to get you, because people mostly don't give a **** about you. By adolescence the thought that entire Universe revolves around you, should have been long gone from your mind and if it's still there, the very same Cosmos should you help with realizing how small and meaningless your existence is in the grand picture.

Ranting and moping about how "life sucks" won't help you with anything. Manning up and studying/working hard will do.

The biggest advice i can tell to anyone really is -- stop wasting your time. I often was astonished at how inefficient people can be -- spending up to four hours just to drink a tea and do nothing fully knowing that they have class project to finish by next morning. Think like you're Jack Bauer and have only 24 hours to save the world, make every minute count (both for work and your personal entertainment).

The other advice is to be a decent human being and realize that teachers in the end are humans too (surprise!). I can't tell you how many "automatic A"-s i got back in university, simply because i was humble and related to them as people. Oh and finishing up all projects way before everyone else helped with that too.

I can't even freaking move properly in Smash, let alone play it, but i still sure i know more about Smash than Doritos Pope.
Maybe they didn't want to confuse new viewers with "nairs", "fair" and "techs" that usual commenters on Smash streams constantly use.
It's cool that they added a few girls and didn't turned it into complete sausage fest.

That G-string on Mallo is NSFW
It's a special traditional belt for sumo wrestlers. Because, you know, Mallo is one.

General Gaming / Re: What are you playing?
« on: May 29, 2014, 05:37:13 AM »
Wash_Doge (PC):
Let's say i had an opportunity to play the beginning of a game for a few hours.

It's ogre. Boring and kinda pointless.

If i wanted to play GTA, i would actually played GTA. But i don't want to play GTA. So why should buy this, obviously inferior GTA?

Graphics is underwhelming and even on ultra setting on PC don't look even remotely new or anything i haven't been already seeing on PC for many, many, many years now. ACII, III or IV look about the same and have bonus points for having setting much more interesting than generic concrete block-fest city.

I actually liked cover and takedown mechanic, it's much more intuitive and fluid compared to say Uncharted. Hacking is okay but incredibly shallow -- it all defaults to pressing X button from time to time. AR mini-games are kinda funny but also incredibly shallow and unsubstantial.

Random generator that makes biographies for people on the streets is kinda funny in a random way, like i met a rapper on the corner who is apparently software developer AND a little league coach. Or a chinese nation of islam member.

Driving controls suck at first, but it gets a bit more manageable after half an hour. Hacking during driving is kinda bad, because if you use it to lose chase (setting trafic lights to cause jams or activating road blockers) you need to look back to time it right and that will often lead to you crashing into something because you weren't looking where you're going.

Even just moving around feels wrong. Finding stuff and people in the environment is especially tedious. Profiler should help you with that but if anything it only gets in a way -- you constantly scan the same people and can walk right past the person you were looking for many times and profiler won't lock on him.

Assassin's Creed IV (Wii U):
Got awakened in the middle of the night by a neighbour watching a rather loud talk show, so i spent rest of it playing AC with headphones on.

As per my routine, i try to delay doing story missions as much as possible while doing extra missions all around the sea. ACIV has a lot of stuff to collect and it distributes them on hundreds of different small islands. Navigating to these islands and then coming back to my ship is kinda tedious. I try to save time by using fast travel but then i end up just spending almost the same amount of time in loading screen.

Story stuff is okay. Even out of Animus part got kinda interesting, i received ability to hack into other people's computers and those weird puzzle mini-games are back. I actually liked them a lot in II and Brotherhood especially that creepy background music.

Don't like RPG progression, in ACIII once you're fully equipped you could actually take down any ship you want, but not anymore no, now you have to level up and have no chance against level 574 frigate. There is no skill involved and it all just depends on how many hours you put into the game.

Game looks great in comparison to Watch Doge, even on inferior console hardware:

So lush and colourful.

Mega Man 1 (3DS):
Started dr. Wily's levels.

The part where i wait for green guys to come down is still annoying.

Got to Yellow Devil and started training on him using save-state (because eventually i want to do that in one go, starting from picking Wily in the menu and up to the ending without continues):

I even tried to do my own made up challenges like killing him without taking damage or killing him with a regular peashooter gun. If NES Remix had these kinda of challenges i would have bought it right away, but alas...

I used it for that Wii U Speak Skype Video Chat thingy. Once.
Video quality on that thing is surprisingly good (almost cruelly so considering how close you need to hold that thing to your face).
But yeah, it's useless.

Personally, i don't plan to buy it, but i am interested that they're also gonna discount previous 3ds games starting tomorrow.
Also Chibi Robo 3ds game is coming out here on 3rd of July.

TalkBack / Re: Of Nerds and Men: Medieval Games

I was expecting a retrospective on actual games set in Medieval, and even started formulating my post (Stronghold series, most notable Crusaders and it's LAN skirmish multiplayer; Medieval Total War, maybe even Excalibur table from Zen Pinball) but this article wasn't that so i lost interest half-way in.

I will make sure to read it in full once/if it will republished in Powered Off (don't like reading long texts from computer, so i print Powered Off issues and read them from paper).

Topping Wonderful 101 in pure action exhilaration and over the top crazyness will be a very tall order.

On other hand it seemed impossible that anyone can outdo Bayo 1 finale, and yet W101 did just that and then more.

Day 0. Will stay up to 5am. local time to start downloading the game the minute it appears on eShop.

Yeah, apparently a lot of his music have that folk, "hand-made", celtic sound to them which you can hear in both of these Zelda remixes. Think irish dance music from Titanic. Lots of violins, banjos and other string intruments. See: here or here.

I'm hoping they use NFC characters to sell virtual console games. I'd love to buy Link at Walmart with all the days in it to install the original smash Bros on my Wii U. Then I get a game and a fun toy and Nintendo gets to keep retailers happy and market the virtual console
That's a great idea.
I also think they start to start ditch discs on shleves entirely and move to these kind of toys as a sort of download cards for all releases.
Their download cards already have extra functionality with AR photos. Why not go further?

It will certainly be more convenient to just apply figure to activate game rather than enter 20 digit codes or fiddling with QR codes.

I like Waluigi Pinball and all Rainbow Roads.
I think Rainbow Road in GameCube game had a mad spiral down from orbit? I liked that. And SNES Rainbow Road in MK7.
