Donkey Kong 94 is god tier.

Batman: Arkham Origins:
Arkham games are guilty pleasures of mine. I know these games are subpar, but i keep coming back. Combat system is very western, as in completely half baked and not very well thought out at all.

Collectathon aspect is rather tedious, though not on Assasin's Creed levels.

Setting and story are made to appeal a very low common denominator, but thankfully i am not (yet) snob enough to deny myself of simple, even dumb entertainment.

Spent 38 hours to finish story and collect all Enigma doohikeys. The reward for doing it is this:

^ a reminder of an even bigger collectathon of the last Arkham game (Origins has 200 thingies to collect, City had 400 or so).

Progression system is kinda interesting because it's a set of basically achievements that only activate one after another. Previously you could do Riddler's challenges in any order, but now they're ordered and you can't do next challenge until you did previous one.

This screwed me up with Predator challenges because i simply ran out of stealth missions in the story before i could do all of them. The one way to replay stealth missions is to play new game plus but after 15 minutes i gave up.

10 minutes after my save got corrupted for some reason and i even felt some kind relief because now i don't have to do anything.

I really liked story (Joker/Red Hood/Harley Quinn sequence was amazing) and cutscenes were sick.

I should add Morgan Freeman as God to this cast page.

It will be on Kotaku within an hour.

Smash should be delayed for ten years instead. That would make more sense.

A Wii U timed exclusive??? I've never heard of such a thing. Must be a typo
Toki Tori 2, Little Inferno.
In fact most of the indies that hit Wii U launch were like that.

Sento Daichi
2d tower defence, okay i guess. But i've already seen at least one indie game with a  very similar mechanic of building defenses on 2d plane and then defending against zombie attack.

Poppo hunter
Great art style, great music and animated cutscenes. Really neat idea. Just sitting on a bench in a park throwing bread hoping for pigeon to come to you...

Shima Nagame
I don't get it.

Hissatsu Center
Great idea, sort of a mesh between Bomberman and Smash bros.

Hopefully they will release these demos for us, bakas.
NoA should de the same with DigiPen Institute, considering they founded it. About time NST did something useful except for churning out Mario Lemmings games.

Level 50 will probably mean that it hits 50 times harder than level 1 not that it is 50 times smarter.

I thought he meant you could use the NFC sensor on the Wii pad to detect the Skylander and Infinity figures.
Oooooooh.
That's cool.
Though imagine if Mario was in Skylanders. Now THAT would be cool.

Did Reggie say that these figures are fully compatible with Skylanders and Disney Infinity or have i imagined that?

Axiom Verge story is pure gold.
Reggie should have used his flower power-up there.

Bayonetta 2. Can't get enough of Platinum.

Codename STEAM for 3DS. Really liked Intelligent System's concious decision to show as few numbers as possible. Liked Overwatch system.

Crimsonland (Steam):
Bought immediately as it hit steam. I owe developer many, many hours back from decade ago so i was glad to give him some money back.

First levels are carbon copies of the levels from old game. I smiled as i kept recognizing them: "oh yeah, that was cool".

Of course main event isn't even singleplayer levels, because after you beat them you start going for score in survival mode -- i remember hitting a million and witnessed my friend doing 2 million run. Game really becomes all dependent on bonus power-ups at that level and you start to kill more monsters with nukes, ion chains and other power-up that pop-up on the map rather than with your weapon.

Batman Arkham Origins (Wii U):
Finished story. Of course, there is a ton of stuff left to collect and i will do that.

Firefly boss battle was pathetic how scripted it was.

Finally figured out timing on critical hits.

Many people praise batman combat system for how "fluid" it feels but after Bayonetta it feels almost as stilted as Monster Hunter because counter button DOESN'T cancel from any action like dodge in Bayonetta.

Did some combat challenges but no way i am doing the rest of those 100+ missions with this broken ass combat.

Bought Crimsonland a few days ago when it hit Steam. Can't wait to play it co-op with buddies.

How about a discount on the previous game's HD version if you registered the original on Club Nintendo? That way if a new Pikmin or Prime collection is released we are given a "loyalty bonus".
I wish i could register Xbox games on Club Nintendo.

Movies & TV / Re: Rate the last movie you've seen
« on: June 14, 2014, 04:21:57 AM »
Yep, Edge of Tomorrow was really solid. Hell yeah, sci-fi!

Just came back from How to train Dragon 2. HTTYD was the only legitimately good Dreamworks animated movie, so i expected a lot.

Unfortunately, it's a lot worse, majority of the movie doesn't have dragon flying and fighting instead you're fed with some stupid family drama.

Don't bother /10

Yeah some of the fatalities are really really vile. But also hilarious in terms "yep, they went there".

Thankfully story mode doesn't have fatalities.

I've been out of the loop in this series since MK4....can anyone give a brief rundown of the gameplay changes since then?  I don't care about the story as much, since most fighter stories are garbage.
Don't discount MK9's story. It was great, full of fanservice for fans of MK from 90s -- story basically starts like a movie and goes through many familiar characters. Basically -- if a character was in any of the first three games, he/she is in MK9.

Gameplay wise -- it now works on 4 buttons instead 6. Now it's basically Tekken button layout. No run button, but you can press forward twice and do dash. Not everyone has roundhouse kicks.
