Kanji are really ambiguous. Some cannot even be found in dictionaries. That makes the whole thing a nightmare to translate.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: A realistic Zelda afterall?
« on: February 04, 2004, 02:52:04 AM »
I thought the point of Zelda was puzzle solving, not straight running? OOT has much longer distances than other Zelda titles, or at least they felt longer. In other Zeldas the maps were littered with enemies even outside points of interest, but in OOT there's not much except for the randomly spawning skeletons at night.

... the game is planned for a US release this year.
Cube-Europe

They even stated an EU date, but that seems to be made up.

Since it's a comparable game... Is Naruto 2 any better?

General Chat / RE: Do people even rent games anymore?
« on: February 02, 2004, 09:15:44 PM »
5? 8? Man, 'round here the most they demand is one Euro a day!
Nothing intersting to rent, though. I wanted to rent Wario World, but that was already rented out. Maybe after the big boom I should check back...

Nintendo Gaming / RE: DS Controls Layout??
« on: February 02, 2004, 09:05:31 PM »
I played Rayman 2 with my gamepad. Since gamepads on the PC have either only digtal controls or that godawful PS layout (i.e. analogs unusable) I had to go with digital anyway. THPS works nice with that pad, too. Heck, I even tried playing Turok and Serious Sam with the pad!

BTW, does ANYBODY know a pad for the PC with a stick as primary control? Those damn d-pads are destroying my thumb!

More sceptical article on the processor. In effect they're saying these specs were probably fanboy-influenced.

MS announced they'll add more RAM and the HDD if Sony has more RAM / a HDD. On /. people were sceptical on how MS plans to do that, since Sony will launch a few years after them. Some said it's a bad move to change a console's specs in last minute because it doesn't allow developers to adjust and production to catch up.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Worst GCN Games of ALL Time

I didn't like SMS, so I think it's a valid addition. That dislike wasn't of the "Mario 64 was better" kind (never played that game), I hated it because... well, I hated every moment playing it after a few hours. Those few hours were mostly coming to grips with the controls, etc. It'd be better with checkpoints so you don't have to go through the entire level again when dying at the end.
Soul Calibur II's weapon master deserves a dishonourable mention as well, no game since Counterstrike made me this angry. I hate games doing that.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: FF CC comercials? Thoughts?

Commercials? The last Nintendo commercial I ever saw was for Super Mario Land 2. Wait, there was maybe one of those glasscube ads...

I thought N already gave EA incentives to keep them on the GC?

They could pull Madden from the PAL releases if they want, though, FIFA is their big game here.

Ian: The kid-attracting doesn't go along well with statements like "We don't care for the young children, once they turn 12 we will take them away from Nintendo anyway" (paraphrase). That's like announcing you will never again develop for the GC and dis the device publicly just to resume support a few months later...

Cubedcanuck: Perhaps they looked at how well any and all competition to the GB/A fared? Gamespy has recently released a list of top ten failed handhelds, that's quite a lot. Also, MS would have tried the same as all the other competitors: More power, less battery. That never worked and even MS probably figured that out. Also, how would you make a handheld out of a PC?

BTW, it's doubtful the XBN will be compatible to the XB. MS said they won't do that if the device gets too expensive.

Whether consciously or not, MS is doing the exact same things Nintendo is doing. Microsoft often bashed Nintendo for many different reasons, now they're heading into the same direction. Ironic, isn't it? Sounds almost like admitting defeat.

What bugs me about the XBN is how they said again "Microsoft is in for the long term". Doesn't sound very confident. Or they want to defeat Nintendo like they defeated Netscape?

Jep, Jeff K is too extreme and some uncommon words don't autocomplete well.
Rouge Leader would make some sense, since your callsign is Red Leader, but it's still wrong.
Another funny thing is how often people confuse CGI (web scripts and the like) with CG (computer graphics)...

Agreed, SMS was one of the most un-fun games I played. It's the opposite of fun. Well, at least after a few hours of playing.

General Gaming / Microsoft cloning N?

After seeing all those rumors and official statements about the XBox Next it seems to me the device will be a lot closer to the GC instead of the XB:

-No HD
-Smaller size
-Proprietary disks
-IBM/ATI chips
...

Also, Microsoft has miscalculated some things and decided to market the XB to kids (their former enemies ) as well (official press release shortly after the release of Grabbed by the Ghoulies).

The XB2 is said to have three of those IBM processors, while the N5 will likely have two (DS was declared a "sample of what's to come with Nintendo's next console").

Perhaps they just envy Nintendo's bottom line?

I'm glad there are no big dissappointments that affect me. Even though I have the ability, I don't play online...
What stung me though was how few titles got all those awards. As if some scope was pretty narrow... But then again there aren't that many super-great-twenty-eight-A titles this year...

Ocarina: Play something like Rayman 2/3 on the PC, it works without a hitch.

Is there a good shoot'em'up for the GBA? Preferrably one of the one-hit-dead-bullet-hell games. I grabbed Iridion II, but it's the exact opposite of how I like my games.

From the reviews it sounds like they addressed all of my problems with that old Red game I have (bad setting, weak enemies, no strategy). If it doesn't release in a crowded time I might consider grabbing it.

Look into Talkback, also GameRankings has linked to quite a few.
