No USB 3.0 or thunderbolt. Why cant nintendo go with the two ports that are going to be on pretty much every computer next year and are going to be on all high end machines when the win8 machines launch.

Beyond that and no built in HDD/SDD or a bigger amount of flash memory I'm cool with the specs thus far.

Gamestop already has their own streaming service in the works. In other words onlive is fucked. There is no one left who could be a viable buyer.

Onlive has been. Aquired by a newly formed company with substantial funding. Still the rumors are going to hurt them in the long run. I'd still say thieronly true hope is to grab onto one of the big three or steam and that won't happen due. To microsoft not needing them and steam and nintendo not having an intrest in that yet.

Yeah I'm guessing its going to be announced this year either at build or the vgas. Why else would microsoft have a spotlight on the xbox at a. Developers confrence.

Also really hoping they open up the app building sdk open to the general dev community. Would make surfing contentabetter experience than just opening up youtube. Having different apps for different media outlets orwebsites would be great.

Castelvania Lords of Shadow 2 coming to PC but not Wii U. How many people have Wii U's? Zero. How many people have PC's? lots!

https://mobile.twitter.com/#!/CastlevaniaLOS/status/236082848061329408

Lame! I hope Wii U pulls a Wii and shuts this guy up.

Sounds like pretty sound logic to me.

The chances of the Wii u pulling a wii are very slim and its in a odd position when it comes to support. Its not in a Wii position with tons of hyper and it not in a 360 position where it was a decent sized leap and got a ton of engines and games first.

And sadly it isnt just 1 game. So far we have

Castlevaina: lords of shadows 2
Bioshock: infinte
Army of two: devils cartel
Remember me
Crysis 3

And that's just naming a few :(

The 720 and PS4 could both easily slip into 2014 but it wouldn't be the interest to either involved. For Microsoft they want to try everything to dodge the third console curse. That and they don't wa t to give nintendo a two year headstart. The biggest reason is currently Microsoft owns the living room in north America with all of the services and TV apps the leaked Microsoft document pretty much confrimed that the next xbox will have a more focus on that as well as games. With the Nexus Q being delayed to "make it better" and heavily investing in better youtube channels and the next apple TV being poised to finally tackle the app and cable issues it seems Microsoft would be daft not to release the follow up in what is going to be a growing sector in the tech space thatit already has a lead in.

That's where the two rumored sky's probably come into place.

Though if anyone is going to launch in 2014 its going to be Sony.

See Microsoft "didn't abandon the core" they just decided to expand their customer base and it worked and they are probably going to end this Gen at #2.

So Microsoft pulled a Nintendo? Ironic.

More like taking a lage out of nintendo well throughout playbooks. Microsoft just decided to focus on serrvices instead of casuel games. Xbla still has a lot of core games so it balances out.

I'd say Sony has also done well in this regard with alot of core M titles launching earlier this year and the holiday season being very nintendoish.

Also on EA its been rumored that they have had early 720 dev kits since E3 2011.

Anywho was thinking about Microsoft and building up for next gen. They have a tton of really good franchises that could be utilised wisely. The biggest being would be the Shadowrun Universe. If I were Microsoft I would be looking at picking up the developers who's lisencing the IP from me.

Have Hairbrained Schemes begin working on a sequel to ShadowRun returns for xbox and PC download.
Port Shadowrun online to 720.
Have a developer such as Obsidian begin working on a big budget RPG. (Obsdian was rumored to be working on a 720 game that got canned. Maybe the success of the southpark game and obsdian being a cheap buy would start that project again)

Microsoft would alsoxbe purchasing Hairbrained schemes and have them be over the dhadpwrun IP and have pretty much free regin what to do with the series in the same way 343i has with Halo.

So more rumors that's the xbox 720 will be running windows 8.
http://www.thefuturepost.com/gaming/more-news-that-next-xbox-may-be-a-modified-windows-8-pc-349.html

Also Windows 8 RTM went out yesterday and some new screens

Looks like the pinbsll game has been replaced by pinball FX. (Zen pinball for everyone else)

Also there is going to be a wiwindows phone 8 event the 5th. And it seems the Microsoft ecosystem supports cloud saves as well as minesweeper and friends are going to windows phone.

Also looks like EA already has next gen dev kits.

Some dude name Daemon supposedly has a 720 devkit. Or at least built a Pc with the specs the dev kits are supposed to have and somehow got the XDK software on to it he's selling it on ebay and digital foundry seems to back up his claims that's its a real dev kit.

It's hard to tell whether the image is real, but one of our own sources says this is a genuine test sample. Microsoft is working with the Durango Xbox Development Kit (XDK) and the user interface is the same as shown in the picture, according to one person familiar with Microsoft's Durango work. Microsoft's testing involves a focus on depth and movement data, something shown in the picture.

Dude is taking a pretty big gamble by putting it on ebay. Dude could face a ton of legal issue but anything Microsoft does will confrim that the kit is indeed real.

There was also a job posting that was posted and delted this week alluding to the the next xbox being launched in late 2013.

Also some screens of the Windows 8 RTM

I mean the 720 has to be hitting next year. This has been a pretty good year for exclusives this year and it doesn't look like there is anything on tap for next year expect Gears Judgement and some arcade games.

Vita was always going to be a tough sale. Its a nice price of tech in relation to the 3DS but its not impressive when comparing it to smartphones and tablets. Parents will go toward the 3DS because it is and it looks less expensive as well as having a nice fatality for the kids. The vita is trying to get the admit market where most of them go to phoned and tablets. The market for a high end dedicated gaming handheld for the core gamer is pretty niche. The price as well as the memory card deal didn't help it at all.

2237
Glad Nintendo didn't get in bed with EA. One of the biggest mistakes Microsoft ever made was getting rid of the XSN sports games and letting EA use their own servers instead of Microsoft's. Probably the biggest thing I dislike about pan and hopefully the Wii U nonlinear system isn't like that. Rather have nintendo handle all that but like Sony that probably wont happen.

Oyua is in a pretty odd position. Beside the hyper its launching inbetween Wii U and the conosles hitting 2013/2014. The little bit of grassroots hyper will get no where. Lose to touching the next gen marketing machine. That a d while xmbc is cool its pretty niche compared to the poeple wanting to use it for mainstream media functions.

Still $100 will be a steal for what will become a emulator machine.

Looks cool.

On Linux the software development isn't as polished as windows or Mac OS X and that's the problem.  Why use crape like Libreoffice when I can pay and use iwork or office and have all my work sync across the built in skydrive and icloud. Same goes for Gimlet overuse stuff like photoshop, pixelmator and apenture.

Though if I were to ever jump onto Linux I would probably just use chromioium and use tootle services with aneroid for my mobile needs.

AppleTV isn't as mainstream as a lot of Apple's other products, but it's far more mainstream than this is going to be.

But Apple doesn't make open platforms. Ouya is open, so it is more important that it do well for the sake of freedom.

Openness is usually a bad thing for the mainstream User.  Which is a big reason beyond the nerd hitching I think windows 8 is going to succeed.

That and OYUA probably has to get units out to its backers before getting purchasable units out.

Haven't seen spinal tap. Its the mockumentary about the 80s hair band right.

General Gaming / Re: Ouya

Well I was mostly talking about the concept between the two. That and I wouldn't count Apple out seeing as this is still a pretty young market with only two aruble successes (Roku and 360).

It wouldn't take a lot to ha e apple TV be more competitive but it would cost money that apple probably doesn't want to spend.  Thing needs to allow open development for it and a few upgrades that would cause the loss of the $99 price point.

The biggest hurdle it probably faces is the fact that after what happened to the music industry Video content guys aren't as willing to jump into bed fearing apple will own that space and ditacte it around like they do the music industry.

This is going to do well in the enthusiast market for home machines. The mainstream market are going to be all apple TV and xbox though.

But I expect this to be delayed to hell. The pebble smartwatch is less complicated than this and is missing its date due to production issues.

2246
How hard is it to push the input button on your remote control?

It's like, how much more difficult could this be? and the answer is none. None more difficult.

But its more than that. Its how the hardware and software works in tandem in various ecosystems. Its me buying a song on my phone during my workout. Than browsing for similar artist to form a playlist on my tablet. Than later having that playlist play from my home system at a party.

Its about how all my info and services I use work seemlessly through all that I use.

So the build website opened up today and it looks like the Xbox is going to be a big focus. Notice they don't say xbox 360 but just xbox. We also geta look at the new xbox logo along with the other logos.

Eh like I said I'm not into the nitry gritty of computing like that. Was just making guesses as mu current t phone eats up 1G. Of ram like that and my thinking was the more complex the machine or tasks the more ram it would use up.

Also looks like EA is half massing its support. :(

Beyond the gamepad functions the Wii U fifa and Madden seem to inferior in almost everyway. To the pint where they both (madden is confrimed) seem to be based on last years game.

I do like the game mode of 1 person playing the coach with the game pad while the other players are playing the game. Could totally see me and my roommates playing a season mode that way.

Notch cleared up what he meant. He likes the OS but Bates the store.

I couldn't care less what Gabe or the Blizzard guy thinks and neither thankfully does the average consumer. Those guys are just rightfully trying to protect their storefronts which are now getting major competition from the Windows Store. That and I hear stuff from others talking about how win8 is being closed which is t true. But even if ot was I never hear complaints about Mac osx becoming more closed with the gate keeper set to defualt to only apple certified devs and Mac app store Content being downloaded in mountain lion.

And windows 8 will be a success. Vista was considered a failure and it still sold over 380 million copies and became hoar of the consumer space about a year after it goes out.

The only good this g to come os this os making vavle speed up the process o. Their Linux client. Now they just have to convince game makers and oems to develop for steam. While
