Nintendo Gaming / Ultimate GCN Games List
« on: February 13, 2003, 06:09:22 PM »
I'm going to give more details for GBA-GCN link. So far I only have Animal Crossing, and I'll do other games later.

Animal Crossing
GBA Game: None
You can visit your tropical island when you connect a GBA to the GCN. It is always summer on your island so you can catch bugs, go fishing or visit the local islander. Certain items can only be find on the island.

You can design your own patterns using the GBA. Designing patterns in your GBA does not cost any bells.

You are right. It is ludicrous. I just threw that number out there.

Here is what IGN says

big environments with a total of 28 vehicles on-screen including the player, and a sense of speed absolutely frantic and totally unequaled.

28 Player LAN would still be cool.

think bigger. 30 players in F-Zero. 8 karts in Mario Kart. The fact that other players can't see your screen. There are many pluses for LAN.

I'm not saying that I'm unexcited about Zelda.  I've had mine preordered for a month, and I picked up my bonus disk yesterday.  It's just not coming close to any kind of "record" that I could find online.

50 million PS2 is worldwide and not just North America.

GTA: VC
1,412,429 - Oct
1,452,729 - Nov
1,581,519 - Dec
4,446,677 - Total

Unless people waited two months for their pre-order, GTA: VC did not have 4 million pre-orders. GTA: VC could be the fastest selling game as it top a million plus in its first three months.

Nintendo Gaming / Gamecube console, profit from day one?

they don't make hard drives that small anymore. Microsoft actually buys like 20GB hard drives and partitions them.

Winter is almost over so Snowboarding season is almost over. EA doesn't release Madden in May. This isn't the first time Nintendo has waited to release a complete game. I'm still waiting for mini racers for my n64.

Here is stuff that I read that keeps GameCube cost down:

Nintendo is planning on manufacturing GameCubes in China.

Nintendo is letting FIC make the boards

Nintendo gave IBM a billion dollars for the Gekko. I think thats a fixed cost. So if Nintendo hits their 50 million mark, the Gekko would have cost them $20 each.

Also, I think that Nintendo has struck a deal with ATI. I know that ATI has received some of Nintendo's software money.

This is why you shouldn't believe in Nintendo buying rumors. These announcements come out of nowhere.

I just read in IGN that the game is finished. It doesn't look good graphics wise, but the gameplay should be good. Looks like a maybe buy for me.

NWR Feedback / List of Suggestions
« on: February 11, 2003, 05:31:14 PM »
here is some suggestions:

Spoiler Tag. I saw this in the gaming age forum. The text had a black backround so you would have to highlight to see the spoilers. I expect people to post more spoilers when Zelda comes out.

Sarcasm Tag. I saw this in a sports message board. They just changed the color of the text to purple. It makes it easier to see that the poster was just kidding around.

I'm digging the ads - see sig.

Nintendo Gaming / be?If GTA wasn't exclusive would it be on GC?
« on: February 11, 2003, 05:19:40 PM »
Rockstar is a big company. Rockstar bought DMA Design and Angel Studios and renamed them. It is like Nintendo renaming Retro to Nintendo West or Silicon Knights to Nintendo Canada.

You mixed up a few developers.

Rockstar North (DMA Design) makes the GTA series. They made Body Harvest and Space Station Silicon Valley for the n64.

Rockstar San Diego (Angel Studios, another Dream Team member) made Smuggler's Run Warzones for the GameCube. They made the ken griiffey games and resident evil 2 for n64.

It would probable be on all three consoles. GTA was on the Dreamcast. Rockstar North has nothing against the GameCube. They were on the Dream Team for n64.

Nintendo Gaming / No instructions and no box.... hmmmmm.
« on: February 11, 2003, 06:55:25 AM »
A lot of people throw away their boxes. The only reason that I started to keep my boxes is if one day I decided to sell my games, then I would get more with the boxes and instructions.

Nintendo did have their own sports label. Does anyone remember Nintendo Sports? Nintendo use to have a website nintendosports.com. Nintendo Sports had games like NBA Courtside 2 and Excitebike 64. I think that Nintendo abandon the idea because Sega and EA had sports covered. I think that its time to get Retro to work on that Football game.
