Metroid Prime comes out the week after next week. It is going against a bunch of good PS2 games so it should be interesting.

Nintendo Gaming / Incoming SEGA GCN announcement!
« on: February 19, 2003, 08:43:11 PM »
I hope that is not the announcement. The LAN game PGC was talking about is mostly likely the PSO Card Game. They had a demo at E3 showing the LAN using the LCD screens. Interesting that the AOU 2003 is friday and their showing off F Zero AC. Maybe another triforce game?

7) Skies of Arcadia Legends - 19,693

I posted that in the other thread. The game was only out for a couple a days and it didn't have a huge ad campaign. I think that sales will pick up due to the increase of GameCube sales.

Nintendo Gaming / some release info

GBA is gonna see 2 N64 ports, which include Mario Golf, and Mario Tennis???

I know that their is probable a golf and tennis game for the GBA and it will connect with the GCN version, but n64 ports?

I think that Kirby's Air Ride was on Nintendo's japan release list.

The Zelda game is news to me. I wonder if it is a port or a brand new game.

Nintendo Gaming / Has anyone heard of a game titled True Crime?
« on: February 19, 2003, 05:31:53 PM »
True Crime: Streets of LA

The game looks pretty good. It will be out for all three systems. Luxoflux is developing it and Activision is the publisher.

I say give Mario back to Miyamoto and let the new directors create new franchises.

Yoshiaki Koizumi, director of Super Mario Sunshine - came up with the waterpack idea
Eiji Aonuma, director of Zelda: Wind Waker - made Zelda celshaded

Eventhough Koizumi and Aonuma brought new ideas and directions for Miyamoto's classics, I want to see what they can do.

some stores allow the free game promotion with the Mario bundle. Just ask if it works.

Nintendo Gaming / Thinking about getting a GC

You should check out this thread.

Getting a used GC wouldn't be worth it because you don't get the free game. The best deal would be the Mario Bundle with a free Metroid Prime.

Nintendo Gaming / Game's that Lost Money?
« on: February 19, 2003, 12:02:56 PM »
This is from Guinness World Records:

Quote

Most Expensive Computer Game Development - The Dreamcast computer game titled Shenmue cost over $20 million to develop. The project took seven years to complete, and was the brainchild of Japanese developer Yu Suzuki, head of Sega's game-development AM2 division.

I expect the norm to be $3 to $7 million to make a game. A lot of games can make that in a couple of month.

If a game does lose money, it is probable because of marketing. They spend all this money to market a game and the game flops.

Here is a question - Why are companies pulling GameCube support (Sega Sports)?
I thought that ports where easy money. The cost of porting a game wouldn't be much unless they are adding features like Splinter Cell. If they shipped a limited supply, I bet they could make a small profit.

Nintendo Gaming / Reviews for GC games: How much do you depend on them?
« on: February 17, 2003, 05:41:02 PM »
Here is a breakdown of my games:

automatic buy - Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros., Resident Evil Zero, Wave Race: Blue Storm, Metroid Prime, Tony Hawk 3
got because of good reviews - TimeSplitters 2, Super Monkey Ball, Animal Crossing, Pikmin.

I usually buy the franchise games without a review. If the franchise game gets bad reviews, then I might picked it up later for a cheaper price. I depend on reviews of unknown games. Word of mouth also sways me to purchase games. I heard good things about Animal Crossing from my sister. After reading these boards, I'm tempted to get Skies of Arcadia Legends.

I like IGN's reviews because I think that their taste in games is very similiar to mine.

Remember that the GameCube is only starting its second generation of games. Developers are just starting to get familiar with the hardware. F-Zero would be Amusement Vision's fourth GameCube game and look how fantastic it looks.

The game IS being emulated. There is basically a "ROM" file from the cartridge on the disc, and the emulator calls it up. The emulator is what has been tweaked to use the GameCube controls, not the game itself.

Since it is being emulated, it shouldn't be hard to bring over other n64 games. After announcing having pre-orders of 250,000 before it even started, I hope that Nintendo sees that it is a good idea and will include F-Zero X and expansion disk with F-zero and Mario Kart 64 with Mario Kart.

Nintendo Gaming / --Mario Kart--
« on: February 15, 2003, 11:33:40 AM »
Since you can't be the same character, Nintendo should add more characters.

I think that Nintendo should drop Mario Kart, and create Nintendo Kart. They shouldn't limit themselves to the Mario Universe.

interesting. The screen is the same as the one in the GBA. Adding lights to the front wouldn't cause a ghost image.

When you edit a post, can you make it so topic gets bumped up to the top. I think that right now the topic stays where it is and can only go up if someone replies.

Btw, can we distinguish between "player files" (as in player A, B, or C save onto one file of 7 blocks) and the "blocks" file (as in this game takes 8 blocks in general).

what do you mean distinguish between "player files"?
Pikmin -- 19 for three game files, PS
It takes 19 blocks and you get 3 game files

Resident Evil 0 - 9 per save file
When you save, it takes 9 blocks.

Do you just want me to change "game file" to "player file" to make it more clear? Also, # = blocks. If there is more than one player file, I just type out the number like three for Pikmin.
