Cross is weird because it seems to incorporate a lot of elements from other more forgotten PS1 rpgs. The Element system feels like an evolution of the junction system from FF8 which in my opinion actually works better in this game than it did in Final Fantasy because Chrono Cross is much more willing to cast away more traditional RPG elements. A lot of the battle system apparently came from Xenogears as well. The PS1 had a ton of experimental RPGs and this feels like Square making an ultimate RPG based on that experimentation.

So I got to Termina and apparently I need to bust into a mansion or something. Also I apparently drowned 10 years ago. That's fun. The game seems to be making some interesting use of the two worlds parallel universe thing based on what I've seen of it but there just is not much for me to go off at this point since I don't have the ability to travel between the two worlds and I've only seen the starting town on both worlds.

I already have recruited four party members though. My current party is Serge, Leena, and Kidd

Here we go, let's just all chip away at this game together. That sounds fun.

You holdouts are really tempting me to just name this as the next Forum Retrospective and see what happens.

RIP Ouya and Razor TV.

Well Huawei apparently got hit with a bunch of fun stuff including being prohibited from using Android because the US signed an executive order prohibiting companies from doing business with them. They have their own Operating System that they've basically had in the backburnner in case this happens but the blacklist likely means that things like Facebook and Instagram won't be able to have Apps for it.

More power to you but there is some questionable stuff in the marketing I'm noticing.

With the industry’s obsession about thinness and “disposable” devices, the majority of phones manufactured in recent years embed the battery as non-replaceable part of the phone, typically soldered directly onto the motherboard.

Nobody solders the battery into the motherboard. That's what's called a really bad idea. Heat + battery = bad. LG recently superglued the battery into the LG G8 so it's pretty unsafe to remove but that's still pretty different from soldering.

Also generally the motherboard is pretty much a separate entity from the battery. My BlackBerry Priv for example basically has the motherboard shaped like the letter C and it sort of goes around the battery and than there's a cable that connects the battery to the board. It has these little pulltabs for removing the battery when needed and the battery sort of rests on the frame of the phone with those adhesive pull tabs I mentioned holding it in place while the motherboard is screwed onto the Frame with T4 screws. The LG G8 also uses a C shaped motherboard.

Basically, it's really hard to take your claims of "having the consumer's best interests at heart" seriously when you're throwing around misleading information like this

This one amuses me as well.

Your user experience will improve as we incrementally add commonly requested applications and features (such as calendaring, notes, calculator, PDF viewer, etc.) while keeping performance in mind

Calendar, notes, and calculators are pretty basic functionality for a smartphone nowadays. Hell, My LG Neon has all 3 of those things and that one isn't even a smartphone.

It's worth getting to Village Bridge which I believe is one of the first post game areas, because there's a cool gimmick there that's worth checking out.

Real men become Werewolves and join the imperials. Who needs the lame cloaks anyways?

*starts episode* I see Guillaume forgot about the special Retroactive theme again.

HMs are pretty much unnecessary outside of that one time you need cut.

But Ice is just a terrible type. You only get to resist other ice type moves and you get like eight weaknesses. It's surprising that ice is usually the 7th or 8th gym when it's such a terrible type.

Started this up on the Vita the other night. It has a nice soundtrack and I like the battle system. The Story so far seems interesting as well.

Edit: We're doing this. You can pick up a brand new physical copy for the same price as the PSOne Classics version and it can be played on every single PlayStation console except the PS4.

Those who wish to play it on Vita like I do will have to jump through some hoops. The game does not appear on the Vita's PSN store so you have to purchase it on the web store or PS3 and than go to your download history on the Vita and download it from there. I believe that you have to do the same thing with a PSP because the PSP's online store is long gone, although you can still download stuff from your download history.

This game does have an issue when you play it with Component cables on a PS2 where it may not display correctly because of how it switches between 240p and 480i. This is an issue with the fact that not all TVs can display 240p content through component cables (Component cables aren't necessarily meant to do that low of a resolution although most TVs can handle it just fine.) Your best solution will be to switch to a different TV or to switch to composite cables.

Also if you owned a physical copy in the past and decide to download the PSN version you will have to start from scratch. Because Chrono Cross was a multidisc game the PSOne Classics version had to be done in a way that renders it unable to accept save data from the disc version. Of course ideally everyone will play this game at the same time so that shouldn't be an issue.

That Rose has a bunch of obnoxious thorns that make it difficult to connect online to other roses. The Sony Tulip and Microsoft Pansy don't have that problem.

I'm starting to warm up to this beautiful thing. I might end up upgrading to it from the Priv.

Bump because some people suck at using the forum's search feature.

The loading times before battles are about as long as the ones before battles in 7-9. The one for opening the menu is like a second at most (although the PS1 had more than enough ram to be able to keep the menu in memory at all times so I feel like there's no excuse for it being there at all). Overall, the load times for 1, 2, 5, and 6, are not much worse than the ones for 7-9.

It's not optimal but in my opinion they are far from being anywhere near as bad as people make them out to be. I think the reason they got that reputation is because the Playstation version of Chrono Trigger is absolutely atrocious in terms of load times and people who only played that assume the Final Fantasy ports are just as bad. Honestly as far as portable versions are concerned, I'll take the PS1 load times over the GBA versions with butchered audio.

Enjoy the wonders of PS1 Chrono Trigger by the way.

I'd say the PSP go is actually the best way to go because you can play it on a TV if you want through the little dock they sold for it and a Dualshock 3.

So Pua Magasiva, who played Shane, the red Ranger in Power Rangers: Ninja Storm was found dead yesterday. Apparently it was from some undisclosed natural causes.

for BNM

Ninja Storm is well worth watching if you've ever enjoyed Power Rangers. It has the best mech fights in the series, it's got RPM's sense of self parody, and it's generally just a nice, chill season..

For anyone wondering, there's a full list of deceased actors from the show here but Thuy Trang, who played Trini in Mighty Morphin, is the only other person on the list who actually played as a Power Ranger (edit: Apparently I can't read and Peta Putter played the Mystic Force white Ranger.) I hope they have some kind of dedication thing for him in Beast Morphers in the credits at some point.

Mystic Force brought in a reformed Rita Repulse as the Mystic Mother during it's finale in to honor the death of Rita's actress from the Sentai footage, Machiko Soga. They basically took some footage of a character named Magiel from Magiranger who was played by the same actress and dubbed over it with new dialogue. The whole thing feels kind of last minute and it doesn't fit with the rest of the episode but it was neat to see her back in Power Rangers for a couple scenes like this one.

I really hope so because I've been itching for some kind of 3D gta game on Switch.

1271
In Fortnite's case it's apparently permanent crunch. Most other games it's the last month or two before release.

1272
Skyrim is more than worth playing on it's own.

1273
Skyrim generally looks pretty nice. It uses a lot of textures from the remastered version.

Also Owlboy. Do not forget Owlboy.

1274
Ironically I was playing my Vita which has the first 9 final fantasy games loaded on it that I got for like $3 apiece while they were discussing the final fantasy question.

This whole thing is just a bunch of blatant SJW propaganda anyways.
