At least Yokoi had sense enough to resign when he tanked an entire division

Yay uninformed opinions!

TalkBack / Re: Renegade Kid Unveils Episodic Shooter Moon Chronicles
« on: January 25, 2014, 10:38:27 AM »
Like many people I'm sure, I wasn't hip to the existence of Renegade Kid until Mutant Mudds conquered the 3DS eShop; I love that game so much I will definitely give Episode 1 of Moon Chronicles a fair shake.  I'm not planning on ever buying a circle pad pro, so I'm most concerned about how the controls will feel using the face buttons to aim...seems a little wonky.  I'll be willing to try using the touch screen, but after Kid Icarus that doesn't seem like an appealing option either.

I beat Super Mario World 100% at least twice a year, every year, since 1992.  Yeah, that game never gets old.

I can't be the only one who, when Alex guessed Lindemann as a guest on Radio Trivia, involuntarily laughed and said "Yeah right!".   :)

Seriously though, I really enjoyed the "year in review" style game show!

I want the Super Mario 3D World to come up on the North American Club Nintendo soooo badly.

I really don't understand why DK is the only playable character in single-player.  This is my number one complaint about Retro's take on the series and it's something that just doesn't make any sense.

What? During the demo they said certain levels were designed around each character's strengths, like Cranky's Scrooge cane. I can't imagine they would only let you use Donkey Kong.

To be honest, I'm excited to use Cranky.

I haven't seen any official announcement that this has changed from DKCR, when only DK was playable in single-player.  If they have changed that aspect, then I would certainly be a lot more excited for this game.

This would have been a good game to have a point/counterpoint style of review with both Becky and Jonny weighing in.  I think I'll probably end up checking this game out during a dry release period after the excitement around Mario and Zelda dies down.

Get pumped!  Last year was pretty epic, but I think we can make it to $7000 this year!

This feels like it could be the Zelda game I've really wanted for the past 10 years.  A Zelda game with the immediacy and fast pace of the 90s 2D ones sounds perfect.

I have to stay off of Nintendo-covering websites and Twitter for the next week and a half before Mario 3D World comes out?  This is going to be hard.  I was enjoying the pre-release Mario coverage being limited to Worlds 1 and 2.  It meant that I could watch and read as much as I wanted without fear of losing the thrill of discovery for the latter three-quarters of the game.

Oh well.

I think the deal breaker for me is that each event has only one course.  That's just lazy.

You know what other Mario game had jazzy soundtrack?

No, not "my mom". It was:

Oh man, I'd forgotten how great the music in Sticker Star was.  I recommend anyone who hasn't played it to skip buying the game and just download the soundtrack.

I love that moment a few seconds into the first song for a game where I realize that it's my listener request  ;D .

I've sadly long given up on the Harvest Moon series.  This particular game just came along at the right age and time (I was 13 and it was summer vacation) for me to sink all my free time into playing it.  My sister and I would play this game for hours and hours and then sneak back to the tv room after my parents went to bed and play until 3 or 4 in the morning.  Fond memories.

Now I feel the same way about this and Animal Crossing as TYP: my life just doesn't have room for investing time in games like these.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: NWR Forums Top 10 Zelda Games
« on: September 28, 2013, 03:59:28 PM »
1. Ocarina of Time
2. Wind Waker
3. Link's Awakening
4. Skyward Sword
5. A Link to the Past
6. Twilight Princess
7. Majora's Mask
8. Oracle games
9. Spirit Tracks
10. The Legend of Zelda

It's almost guaranteed I'll be either the only one or one of the few with a DS game on my list.  I can't wait to play through A Link Between Worlds a couple of times and hopefully re-evaluate this list!!

Wind Waker should definitely not get #1 over Ocarina.  This is because Ocarina came out when I was 11 years old and everyone must conform to opinions based on my nostalgia for the experience!  :@

Yes, because if there's anything the Pokemon series is known for, it's for wild innovation between each new title.

I purchased Wind Waker HD as soon as I woke up this morning because, based on past experience, the download would be slow and I wanted to be able to start playing as soon as I get home from work.  To my surprise, the download finished (all 1.7 GB) in less than 15 minutes (this also meant I was late to work because I couldn't resist at least watching the opening cutscene).

Has anyone else noticed increased download performance on the eShop?

While I agree that the GBC Mario Golf has some issues, the ending of the game is so strange I can’t help having fond memories of it.  I mean, a Mario Golf game that ends with a conspiracy at the very top of the club management!  If you haven’t played it here’s what happens: after you beat Mario in Peach’s Tournament, the club management conspire to cover up the fact that you beat Mario (who is apparently, like, their God of Golf) because young golfers won’t have a dream to aspire to.  The club manager literally says, “Golf with no dream is no golf at all….”!!  Such an out of left field ending for the RPG mode, I love it. .

I'm guessing Pandora's Tower will win through it's association with Rainfall, but I voted for Prince of Persia because, well, Sands of Time is the only game in the series I've played at this point and I'm curious!  Also, action/platforming games are just my wheelhouse.

The Kickstarter update I received today only says that the game will be released on PS3 on July 30th.  It specifically says, "We'll have an additional announcement next week to reveal the release dates for the rest of the platforms!"

Definitely going with Xerneas.  Haven't played Pokemon in 15 years, so there's no strategic reason, I just love the design of the character.

I decided a while back to stop paying attention to game kickstarters.  Fatigue set in more than 6 months ago.
