Are you saying Nintendo was too reliant on 3rd party devs in 1996?

Honestly, a fair amount of Sony's recent 1st party efforts have just been coasting on their respective franchises' histories, something that NSMBU threatens to do as well. At least the 3D Mario efforts, Zelda, and Metroid have been attempting to build and evolve in core concept and design- none of Sony's IPs seem to be doing that. The Last of Us looks like it could just be Uncharted with a kid.

Man, if you really want to get Streetpasses, got to one of the Zelda Symphony of the Goddess concerts.  Before tonight, I'd never seen another 3DS user in the Wild.  At least half the people at the concert tonight had 3DSs and were frantically Streetpassing.  I had 154 of the things before the night was out, and managed to get all the pieces I needed to finish 4 puzzles and get all the Streetpass-required pieces to the available puzzles.
Went to a couple of comic cons in my time, I have over 250.

If Nintendo is scared to tackle a Pokemon RPG then they're not ballsy. They could put Game Freak level graphics on the Wii U, just make it bigger and have a much more structured online portion, and people would eat it up.

I understand Nintendo's drive to have experiences that bring people together and not as much co-op gameplay, but if that's the case, they need SOMEONE to step in and make some online games for their consoles. That's not to say it hasn't been done already, but they need exclusive content that really helps their online shine. I mean, the reason people have been nailing them for so long is because they just don't have their online game down- and applications like Miiverse may be their answer to bringing gamers together socially and in a "Demon's Souls" type of manner, but they need to kind of grow as a company and realize that when you have such a wide group of people playing your consoles across the globe, you can connect them a bit more than from house to house.

That being said, yes. Gamers are impossible to satisfy. Just like people. However, if we're impossible to satisfy, we should make games ourselves, that cater to our likes. But that's never going to happen.

XD- Gale of Darkness would like to have a word with you.

Pokemon is a MONEYMAKER. If they released a game for Wii U it would sell like hotcakes. The stubborn refusal to do so because of brand name is idiotic. Besides, they're called Pokemon partly for the portable aspect but more likely because they're Monsters that fit in balls that go in your POCKET.

...I'm still not really sure I get this completely. So I'll be able to buy stuff on the Wii U eShop for Wii U, and on the 3DS eShop for 3DS, but not on Wii U eShop for 3DS or vice versa?

I saw this news earlier and was wondering what you'd have to say about it Cater. Haha I'll take that as a confirmation, for your sake.

Does anyone remember that "leaked eShop list" from a while back? I have a strange feeling that at least some of those games could be the ones we didn't see at E3.

I don't get why more third party games are to be revealed.  Why not show that stuff at E3?  Why let months go by of everyone thinking that the Wii U has **** third party support if that is not the case?  Nintendo can be so frustrating.  What the **** logic is there in "hiding" third party support at E3 when third party support is like the number one thing that makes people iffy about a Nintendo console in the first place?

What you call crap support I call good support. Not that it cant be better. I figure they wanted those titles at E3 to get the spot light. If there are bigger titles to be announced probably better that they get their own time to shine. Also personally I figure if we are going to get the game regardless what's the difference in being announced last month or in 2 months? If we get it we get it and the end result is the same. I get the consumer awareness part about announcing things sooner tough, just for me it changes nothing.
I dunno. I honestly don't believe that any of the titles they showed at E3 came close to being "pants crappingly good". Zombi U has the potential to go Red Steel on our asses, and that makes me wary. Rayman Legends was nice, but kind of more of the same. And of course, none of the Nintendo titles put me into a ravenous frenzy, though I must say I like Pikmin 3, but it's not rocking my world.

What upsets me is that, if there were 3rd party games announced that looked awesome or had great potential, why not show them off? What is the gauge for showing things off? Or, again, were these not launch titles? If so, I can understand. But it still doesn't make it any better.

Indeed. It would be nice to fill the silence with something, especially since that's what Nintendo kinda told us what they'd be doing.

When's the next Nintendo Direct?

I think Shulk would be a great character, especially from a new IP like Xenoblade that has a LOT of promise- I wouldn't mind seeing a continuation of the story and a return to the gameplay mechanics, personally.

Also, I think Assist Trophies should be abolished, since a majority of them (Samurai Goro, Ray, Waluigi, Saki, etc) were just characters that almost had enough of a moveset to make it in.

To me, Xenoblade has been the perfect blend of story progression and leveling. The game has difficult enemies that can often be subverted by implementing different arts or partners, so you have such a wide breadth of options available to you, and the wonderful thing is, it can't really HURT to switch out your partners. Also, the amount of sidequests that involve gathering and killing enemies is massive, so it doesn't hurt to pick off a few foes here and there.

The exploration aspect, with each landmark rewarding more experience points, is genius and further helps the game's progression. I've only been held up once or twice in the game, and surprisingly, it hasn't been with bosses. My general stupidity when traversing the terrain often kills me, and a few random enemies have managed to take me out, too.

That being said, I do not particularly enjoy RPG's that require a good deal of grinding, unless they offer something more substantial in addition, like Pokemon.

Unlike Neal, I've had droughts where I've gone without Xenoblade (months or so), but each time I reach a new area my passion for seeing the game through til the end is rekindled. It's so hard to hate this game.

But! I will never complete Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time. I've said I would, but I always get to the same place- where you fight the Prince's Father, and I just get frustrated and fed up. I know it's a good game- I've enjoyed everything up until that point so much- but I just can't bring myself to get any further because of the awkward combat mechanics.

There's very few games I don't think I'll ever complete, but Sonic and the Secret Rings is one of them- just a terrible game, obviously.

This may be the most atrocious instance, but I doubt I'll ever beat Ocarina of Time. Again, I get to the Temple of Shadow and I just get tired of playing. The hover boots certainly don't help, and that dungeon's layout is so convoluted and tedious I can't bring myself to complete it. I know, I'm missing out on the later half of one of the best games of all time, but that's why I have Twilight Princess- polished, prettier, and more unique in design.

My most dreadful prediction is 350 but I'll settle with the 299.99 with Nintendoland.

I mean, come on. That's the Wii U tech demo in a nutshell.

I don't want to play a new Zelda game without motion controls ever again. They're just that good.

That being said, I would have liked a lefty option, because it always looked weird that Link had his sword arm awkwardly hanging across his chest.

I would kill for a Zelda utilizing the top down view of LttP.  I think the 3d affect would be perfect for that viewpoint.  I'd also love an official Pokemon for 3ds, I've avoided the black/white releases so that once the next generation appear on 3ds, it'll be all the much better for me lol.

Oh and Animal Crossing, I've been waiting for this game since it was announced.  I've been needing my fix for a LONG time now :/
I'm seriously debating skipping Black and White 2, WAIT NO GAME FREAK HAS ME BY THE BALLS LOL.

But really, I don't see the need to buy another title for a story and additional areas that should have been in the first game. I'd rather wait for Pokemon 3DS to make its appearance. As for Zelda, I'm torn as to whether I'd like a top-down or a truly 3D Zelda experience on the 3DS- we know the graphics can be nice, so why not give us something pretty? Then again, Spirit Tracks/Phantom Hourglass didn't take so long because they WEREN'T hung up on the art style... which makes me sad.

I want a portable Zelda really bad. One with content, please. Spirit Tracks, while being wonderful, had WAY too short of a story.

The eShop is boss. What a great lineup of games.

So with Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion on the horizon, what other Nintendo titles would you like to see? I'd like a Kirby with 3D models, myself- since, you know, it's doubtful they'll ever make a 3D Kirby at this point.

Also, Metroid.

Sooo.... Evan_b and Kairon are just going to listen to whatever anyone on an unnamed gamer site tells them is a good game and mindlessly agree.  Luigi dude apparently can't understand english because he thinks I said that sales=classic despite never having said anything of the sort, the troll.  ejamer thinks anyone with an opinion other than his must be trolling.  And insanolord thinks that pretty much any game that anyone ever liked is a classic--especially if it were an unpopular game on an unpopular Nintendo system that were to be voted for on a Nintendo-centric website as if that wasn't the lamest attempt to validate a weak, lame opinion.

like I said, F_ING SAD.
Whatever, man. I buy games that I want to play- and I don't like Super Mario Galaxy that much, but I will admit it's quite a great platformer. I also buy Sonic the Hedgehog games despite the amount of reviews that suck. I buy games that I think I will enjoy, and if I don't- well, tough luck, I tried. But I can also see merit in a game. I also tend to go by my gut feeling, which is why I supported Operation Rainfall's message to localize a game like Xenoblade Chronicles- a game I had never played, yet, by looking at trailers, knew that I wanted to.

See, this entire time you haven't stated what YOU think makes a classic, unless I am to consider that you think "classics" are a benchmark of quality, ten years from now. And you know what? I'm gonna say yeah, a lot of Wii-exclusive Nintendo games will be remembered for their quality. You don't see random floating people in Skyward Sword or SMG, or odd glitches that break the game completely.

You should probably also wait about ten years before you say a game won't be remembered as a classic, either. But, that's the last time I'm going to talk to you directly, because you're jumping to conclusions about other people just so you can accuse them of being "sad", and that's not cool.

GUH.

This argument. It is ridiculous.

What will be considered a classic will be the games that Video Gaming Opinion Eds ten years from now will put on their "Best Games of All Time" lists.

A game- especially a Japanese one, goodness gracious- like SMG that was well-received even by Western reviewers means that it could generally be well-liked. Again, your opinion on controls or content doesn't make a game memorable to anyone else. Your condescending tone actually implies that you're incredulous as to why someone else would enjoy the game- at least, that's how it appeared to me. That's just my opinion, though, and I'll respect you for disagreeing with how I perceived your writing style.

Galaxy 2 is the best game of this generation and I have no doubt I'll be playing that game for as long as I play games. The original and DKCR as well.
I'm being serious when I ask: Why?
Hey dude, guess what? Not everyone has the same opinions as you. Hell, I enjoy the original Super Mario Bros. a lot because it's tough, but aside from that, I don't find myself playing it over and over. It's a classic. I enjoy New Super Mario Bros. Wii because I first played through with a friend. The ability to play it again with other people and assist them, or even tackle it on my own (which is a lot tougher) provides a good deal of enjoyment to me.

Likewise, the novelty of playing with a Wii Wheel will never wear off to me. As for DKCR, I'll probably play that game forever because it's hard as balls. I'll play Skyward Sword for the first foray into motion gaming, I'll play Xenoblade Chronicles because it's already one of my favorite games of all time, just like how I come back and play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, or when I pop in Super Mario Sunshine to see how fast I can ace one of those levels.

Some people play the same games to recapture that feeling of nostalgia, some people play them because they love the mechanics implemented. It's not up to you you judge them for it.

Phantasy Star Online is the Monster Hunter of Gamecube.  They are kissing cousins of each other except for the monthly charge.
But, by default, doesn't that make Monster Hunter better?

MH3's gameplay is vastly superior, as well... IMO.
