Yeah. Fox could retool House of M to only include the X-Men though.
This is true, but the coolest interpretations of characters were those found in the MCU. Iron Man and the Hulk, for example. However, the Fearsome Four was an awesome retelling of the Fantastic Four universe, if Fox could get on top of that.

It's a shame House of M will never happen in the MCU, because it's one of my favorite reinterpretations of the universe.

I just felt the movie was one of the most mature perspectives of superheroes we've seen in cinema- actual superheroes, not the madmen of Gotgan seen in Nolan's Bat-flicks. These were men and women of great power dealing with matters that would apply to superheroes in a real-world setting. This is not heroes realistically portrayed, this is super heroics adapted to reality.

Anyway, my previous comments on Spidey are really my greatest complaint with the movie, although I also think the airport fight was a BIT too long for its own good. The beginning of the movie truly felt like a Cap film, but it lost itself somewhere in the middle, before neatly tying itself up. I really enjoyed the film and I think, in retrospect, the Cap trilogy will be remembered as the best films of Phases 1-3, and the most grounded films in the MCU.

But it just couldn't beat The Winter Soldier.

They aren't getting a buy from me, that's for sure.

Spider-Man was pretty shamelessly inserted. I don't understand why they felt the need to shove so much exposition for the character into the film, and it felt a little ham-handed.

Black Panther should have been the only character introduced in the movie, because his story was extremely well-integrated, unlike Peter's. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome to see Spidey and he did some great stuff, but it was superfluous.

Perhaps, though saying it's just to change item switching and wall-jumping is reductive. I'd argue that those things would make an already excellent game even better (excellenter?), something Nintendo has done quite successfully in the past such as the aforementioned Ocarina of Time 3D. I mean, Wind Waker HD only changed item switching and sailing (a precision-based move that demands mastery of the wind mechanic). I'm joking, of course. Obviously, there were other changes, point being, you can downplay anything if you try hard enough.
I think you're downplaying how great a game Super Metroid is.

That was a big part of it, true, but a lot of the criticism was centered around the fact that they had nothing big to show. No matter how on point they are with the presentation, they're still showing Tokyo Mirage Sessions, a Paper Mario game that a lot of people are already angry about, and possible second or third tier Wii U releases they haven't announced yet. Is that really exciting for most people? The biggest thing it does is reiterate the fact that they've effectively abandoned the platform. There are a lot of interesting 3DS games coming out this year so from that angle it makes a bit more sense, but even if they focused on those, the story would still be how there's barely anything for the Wii U.
You know what would make people not angry about Paper Mario? If they ACTUALLY MADE A FUCKING RPG like the fans wanted.

People want to see more Zelda. But, a whole damn day of it? I'd rather see some Tokyo Mirage Sessions just to cleanse the palette.

The NX, it was in front of our eyes this entire time.

After the reaction to last year's digital presentation, this isn't all that surprising. Since they've decided to hold back all the NX stuff and all their big reveals until later this year, skipping the digital presentation is probably the right call. I'm just excited to see Zelda at this point.
The reason the reaction to last year's direct was so poor was because it was a jumbled mess in comparison with the year before, which they nailed pretty flawlessly.

All I'm saying is, Zelda better be a damn good looking game. The past few snippets we've seen of the game looked markedly worse than the initial reveal, which was gorgeous. It better look great, and demo well, or I'm gonna be at a loss for words during the next 9 months- rather similar to Nintendo's own message, hilariously enough.

...I joked about this a few days ago on Twitter, saying they would probably spoil a bunch of the game if they did something like this.

But this. I mean, for real? Is this really their plan for Wii U this year? Show a game that's not even coming out on the 30th anniversary for E3 2016 and nothing else...?

After realizing how badly I want to see this movie, I nabbed two reserved seats at the cushy, reclining chair AMC for 7PM later today.

I'm kinda ridiculously excited. I don't think I've ever been to a Marvel Movie premiere before, mostly because I don't care about the characters they've revolved around. But after enjoying The First Avenger and loving The Winter Soldier, I've become such a big fan of Cap and Chris Evans, that I think this one will be worth it.

I'm actually excited about Federation Force- despite its bland graphics, the mission based stuff is exactly what I want to play with my friends.

In my opinion, the transformation aspect of Shantae is its weakest element- while it is supposed to help with dungeon and overworld traversal, the dance mechanic is cumbersome, tedious, and few of the transformations are actually fun to play with.

Pirate's Curse is the one game that I would say has the fewest flaws, with the only real one being its unnecessary stealth segment. GBC is the epitome of a handheld game of its era trying too hard, and Risky's Revenge is convoluted, short, and not very fun.

That being said, I think that if Wayforward has the time and money to do what they want, they come up with great products. That's why I backed Half-Genie Hero despite its departure from the series' formula.

So it's like SMT, then, not Persona.

I'm saddened by the thought that my top games this year are going to be Atlus RPGs.

On the other hand, they're Atlus RPGs, so I'm not really complaining. I wonder if this game will have the extensive voice acting that the original SMTIV did, including recurring characters? It would be great to hear Nolan North and that guy who played Navarre again.

It's sad that the best Shantae game can be summed up as an "average platform game". Not too far off the mark, there.

As I mentioned in the "last thing you purchased" thread, I picked up Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exidus and I've been chipping away at it for a few days. If you like great atmosphere, lovely sprite-work, and Adventure of Link, this game is right up your alley. It has an Ocarina of Time-ish musical mechanic, called the Musicon, that's actually used to speak to characters and interact with the game world- sometimes, it works spectacularly, other times, it's a bit wonky. But the way they utilize dungeon "unlocks" as well as the Musicon is really novel and it gives the game a unique feel. It is a sequel, but they explain the plot of the first game at the beginning, and the first title is a point-and-click adventure, so you're not missing anything iterative.

However, I began to encounter a number of game-crashing bugs about halfway through the title, which is extremely aggravating. The only thing you can do, at least until Check Out My Game releases another patch- is save each time you do something you think is important so that you don't lose that progress. The bugs occur randomly and are usually caused by screen transitions.

I would recommend this game without hesitation if it weren't for its buggy state. The Wii U now has two great Adventure of Link indie titles (this and Elliot Quest, which coincidentally used to be just as buggy) that are reminding me of how much I love that game. If people continue to mimic that formula, it might overtake Metroidvanias as my favorite type of game design.

I am not thrilled by this news. Maybe it'll end up well, but I have vague memories of Reggie talking about how he didn't like RPGs and not being keen to see any released during the Wii generation.  He also seems keen to push digital-only content, especially if it's not a major franchise that can be relied on to push millions of units.

Giving him more power to decide what games NoA runs with isn't a thrilling concept to me.
Considering Xenoblade Chronicles X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions have been slated as large releases for the Wii U and the original Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, and Pandora's Tower received huge localization movements towards the end of the Wii's life, I would think Reggie at least acknowledges that RPGs serve a role in the library of a console. Plus, niche titles like the Souls games with rabid fanbases have helped support console launches and generate buzz in the West.

Yeah, as much as I have been out of the Splatoon loop lately (I will probably pick it up during the summer again because there's nothing coming out for Wii U) I am gonna have to get Callie and Marie. I am honestly surprised at how integral these two are to the game and how little they end up irritating me.

I don't think someone would need to start that small, but that's just me.
Grezzo did.
I think remaking Super is a dumb idea. What needs updating? Nothing.
It was just a suggestion. You can disagree without flat-out calling it dumb, but sure. I'd update the item-switching. To each his own.
Apologies for being blunt. I just think remaking a game just to change item switching and wall-jumping (a precision-based move that demands mastery of the mechanic) is kind of silly. Instead of remaking Super, why not do something akin to A Link Between Worlds? Graphical update and new mechanics, story, controls, and the potential for engine reuse? While some might say ALBW is teetering on remake level, but it clearly is its own thing, and has a number of neat, stand-alone ideas. Plus, it was never a graphically taxing game, and although many associate Metroid with great visuals (Metroid 2 notwithstanding), I'm not sure such a niche title would be worth the graphics investment.

There is some discussion on whether or not sales are a good indicator of whether or not a company should make a game. They are not. Sometimes the fanbase of a franchise exceeds the sales.
Mmmmmmyeah? No. Sales seem to be the driving philosophy behind everything. Metroid doesn't sell. New Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong Country do. Pokemon does.

I remember how Platinum fans raged at the inhumanity of Bayonetta 2 being a Wii U exclusive. I don't think it won over anyone that caused a significant boost in the Wii U's sales. Just because people are loud and obnoxious doesn't mean things will change or improve. Look at me with Paper Mario.
