I honestly don't understand the appeal of this series at all. I would rather watch an over bloated dialogue heavy anime of a convoluted story than sit through hours of staring at it with occasional button prompts and a fail state.

Guess that's just me though.

I'm honestly not surprised, but I am still bewildered. This is a game about Japanese customs, standards, and ridiculousness. I haven't read anything decrying the hot springs DLC as super sexualized or anything, just that it exists. How is that harmful? Are women not allowed to show skin in Nintendo-published games?

I'm pretty sure every western purchase is aware of Atlus' legacy and wouldn't be at all surprised by this- but it's not really harmful material in any way, at least not to the level of the in-game instance. This just shows Nintendo would rather avoid genre savviness in order for a few more bucks.

I'm still getting the game and I won't really miss the hots springs content- it WAS DLC, after all- but that won't stop me from calling Nintendo out on an unnecessary choice. Unless I'm mistaken, and there was a lot more steamy stuff going on in the pack- no pun intended- then I understand.

Just something we'll have to get used to, I guess.

That sounds like a great game that isn't Zelda.

Because Ant Man wants to be a "good guy"

You know, like the majority of the cast.

Seriously, though. The main issue was brushed under the carpet, because it was a Captain America film and those events merely stood as a backdrop. You could have likely pulled off the same story without the Civil War "references" in there.

1v1 Lucario's only.
(better then any gen 1 pokemon, I just went there ;))
That's not an inaccurate statement, by many standards.

Except aesthetic design.

I think Rowlet will become the fast Grass starter we all needed by never got. No, I'm not looking at you, Sceptile. WE NEVER GOT IT. Although Litten does look quite nimble. I just see Poplio becoming very Samurott-like in all the wrong ways.

"I don't like E3, I don't think E3 treats me fairly. Thus I've decided to skip E3."
"I've always thought E3 was a wonderful woman and I respect her immensely."

Funnily enough, I realized the parallels this discussion had with the previous episode where James Jones tried to defend Xenoblade Chronicles as Dr. Metts and Guillame smacked it about. Here, James tried to smack Star Fox Zero while Guillame and Greg defended it.

James Jones always gets bullied. Sorry, James.

Is this for real?

And here, I had a rather civil discussion about him as his Michael Bay persona about things. Now I see that he hates me too.

:'(

Everything looks good except the starters look like ****.
Says the 99th fan of one of the worst designed Pokemon ever.

Yup, the pre-release hype is setting in. Seeing as the visuals feel like a massive step up from Gen VI and we're finally getting a tropic-themed region that isn't utter garbage, it's getting me all excited about Pokemon again. Although new Pokemon in general do that to me.

1286
That would be terrible.

1287
Some might argue it allowed them to be more creative with the uses for an item. Either way, dungeons in Zelda rarely ever have you combining skills and often it's in the worst way possible (like Twilight Princess' mixture of iron boots and claw shots). But that's just my opinion.

Just be thankful you put your opinions on a podcast that isn't treated like the word of God- you avoid death threats, as opposed to the content on the site.

1288
A Link Between Worlds was no easier than the majority of modern Zelda titles. I think approaching dungeon and puzzle design from that standpoint definitely streamlined the straightforwardness and "answer" to those circumstances, but also set the game apart.

I can't comment on Star Fox Zero, but I will say I appreciated A Link Between Worlds for its design decisions despite that lack of variety.

1289
Looks great. Honestly, I'm surprised, but very impressed by the switch to full-on character models after XY. The chibi days are gone, it seems.

1290
Though again jarring when he’s talking bad about a good game yet making excuses for a bad game.

Counterpoint: James Jones is speaking the truth.

Bravely Second - 81 Metacritic score.
Star Fox Zero - 69 Metascritic score.

Also, bad games can be enjoyed. Case in point: me playing SF0 to completion and wanting to go back to it even though it's an ungodly mess.
Hey whoa, I was just joking. James Jones is entitled to his opinion, just like how I'm entitled to my opinion that Galaxy and 3D Land are a hot mess. We all have games that we love despite negative reception, James Jones just hosts a podcast.

1291
Ha! Fair enough. Honestly, with how clunky the shooting controls are, I'm baffled as to why they made half the characters shooting-centric in the first place.

Then again, it is a pretty bad game, so choices like that aren't too surprising.

1292
But Cap smashed Tony's Arc Reactor in the end, so I sided with the team that WON.

As we all know in these affairs, to the victor goes the spoils.

1293
I take it you sided with Team Cap.  I sided with Team Stark.  I think Captain America was the irrational one.  Yes, it was a freak accident, and Rhodey was in pursuit.  In fact, I think the scene with Tony working with the robotic legs was to help the audience now how they should feel about that "casuality" of war.  It was a great scene.
With the title being "Captain America: Civil War", I went with the side that was A) right, B) had the cooler team, and C) didn't endanger the youth of the superhero community by throwing him into a massive battle with some of the most dangerous and skilled individuals in known existence.

In the same boat as you, zeke. Trying to clear out a backlog with little new content coming out in 2016.

I think they've shown off what the Squid Sisters do, and it's boring stuff.

DLC should be Amiibo, and Amiibo should be DLC. I'm still a bit miffed they didn't capitalize on the idea that "Smash Amiibo= Unlocking the character on both systems" but Nintendo is stupid sooooo whatevs!

I think you're downplaying how great a game Super Metroid is.
I have stated on numerous occasions for nearly ten years on this forum that Super Metroid is my absolute favorite game, and it's not even really close. In the paragraph you didn't quote, I even call it "one of the best and most influential games of all time." So no, I don't think I'm downplaying how great a game it is.
Super Metroid is a great game, and is indeed one of the best games of all time. But influential? Yeah, I guess if you mean on the indie and Castlevania scene, maybe. Outside of that, Super Metroid hasn't done jack for the video gaming industry.

I think you're overstating how great a game Super Metroid is. ;)

Hear ye, hear ye, and listen to the sage critique of James Jones- a man that hates Zelda and Star Fox games for not being what he wants, yet willingly puts himself through the tedium of titles like Bravely Second and Project X Zone because someone needs to appreciate such bloated, grueling affairs. Is it that he can only enjoy things that are inherently mediocre? Or perhaps that his standards for classic franchises are too clouded by nostalgia...?

Jokes aside, I think I've claimed by stake as the most apologetic gamer in existence regarding Lost Reavers- but something about Jon's analysis doesn't sit right with me. In what way is the game a first person shooter? I could see a third person shooter, maybe, but that doesn't take into account the huge amount of melee combat that exists. Maybe I'm the one playing the game wrong, but even the "all-ranged" characters have melee attacks, and I've found that its much more of a factor in controlling the undead hordes.

Again, it is a shameless pay-to-win, but the collectible screen (which shows you how many of a certain special item from each mission you've obtained) has rewards, such as bundles of data chips, that can make the loot cycle far more forgiving. But as far as loot-cycle-based titles go, I don't think Lost Reavers is too atrocious- generic, maybe- but not lazily designed. Seasoned players (i.e. those in the level 20 range) rarely "troll" by standing outside the spawn boundaries, likely because they understand those enemies don't grant experience. The customization, role-based gameplay balanced with the equipment systems also has plenty of interesting depth, which feels far from lazy.

Didn't Marvel already negotiate the Fantastic Four rights back from Fox?
It was rumored, and debunked.

If War Machine had died, Tony would have no one to blame but himself. The Vision is his creation, and Rhodey chose to pursue Steve and Bucky. It would have been a freak accident. Hell, it was. But brushing away Rhodes' current fate is a little lenient, as well- sure, Stark can just "build him some new legs", but he has had something taken from him that can never be replaced, and will have to live out the remainder of his life with that in mind. All for trying to **** with Captain America.

There are types of video games for everyone. I loved Xenoblade Chronicles, and I really loved its sequel, too, but they're completely different types of games, with story having a greater emphasis in the original. If you don't know what you're getting into (and I'm not sure many of us did), XCX can be extremely difficult to play because of how minuscule progression comes to you- the moments where it does are lovely and awesome, but they are dispersed through a MASSIVE listing of tedious, uninteresting quest lines, some of which you have to seek out. It is not a game for everyone and may not even be an RPG for those fond of the genre. Cut him some slack.

It doesn't seem like they're bringing back any sort of overworld traversal system like in III or IV, which really is too bad.
