Nintendo Gaming / Re: NX Launch Lineup
« on: May 28, 2016, 07:10:23 PM »
Notice that we have not seen a Diddy Kong, F-Zero, or Excite game on Wii U. The first two are bygone relics, at this point.

A Fire Emblem fighting game would be dumb. There's better titles utilizing Yƫsuke Kozaki's art style, and some even feature action/violent gameplay that is way more interesting than a Soul Calibur ripoff.

Super Smash Bros. for NX Featuring Even More Fire Emblem Edition

You joke, but I could see them doing an all-Fire Emblem fighting game down the road.
I will give up video games if this ever happens.

Sure, it's pretty predictable, but what super-hero movie isn't? I would ranks this in the top 3 X-Men films.
Considering one of the other movies in that top 3 has to be First Class, it's hard to really rank X-Men films when one or two of them blow all the others out of the water.

Oh, I believe MK8 has some of the best tracks in the entire series- yes, that includes retro selections, but the sheer absurdity of the F-ZERO and Legend of Zelda stuff is great too.

And Pikmin 3 is the best Pikmin game. Suck it, Pikmin 2.

For those that care, Captain America has been retconned as a sleeper Hydra agent after years of being Captain fucking America.

This is the state of Marvel Comics. While some might argue about the Marvel v DC cinematic efforts, the comics are a much different story. And that is the story of people desperately attempting to sustain relevance for a dying form of media- and sometimes it leads to absolutely absurd solutions like "let's have Satan make Mary Jane and Peter Parker divorce" to now Captain America being a Nazi.

Fun stuff!

I have been pretty adamant in saying that I've loved a fair bit of the Wii U library, but I do acknowledge that few of the games could be considered classic or definitive in any way. If Zelda wasn't some bastardized NX lovechild, it could have been a definitive "classic" for the system, but they shot themselves in the foot with that development cycle. Hyrule Warriors, while successfully adapting Zelda elements into the Musou gameplay, is a poor imitation of a Zelda title, but also sadly the closest thing to an exclusive Zelda title the Wii U has- and even then, there's a handheld version with MORE CONTENT.

You've made a grave mistake. Enjoy the mediocrity of a story-based Etrian Odyssey.

TalkBack / Re: Kirby: Planet Robobot (3DS) Review
« on: May 25, 2016, 11:59:17 PM »
Besides the NES game on Wii VC, this will be the first Kirby game I buy. I have played bits of kirby games over the years, but have never been interested enough to buy them. That changes with Robobot, it does look like a good game.
Fun fact- there are literally no mainline Kirby games that are bad. Maybe a few middling spin-offs, but you can't go wrong. In particular, Triple Deluxe was an absolutely fantastic title, and this game seems to be no different.

1235
Shantae is definitely coming to Wii U.

Disappointed by the Hyper Light Drifter news, but honestly, the devs should have anticipated it from the start and not made lazy promises. That is one of my LARGEST pet peeves about Kickstarters and it really makes me lose a lot of respect for the team.

1236
Thought on Splatoon - I could see a definitive edition coming out before the Wii U EoL - including all the patches and DLC.  Throw a LAN mode in and you've got another must-have pickup for the system.

Hell, give us Smash U with a LAN mode...
...Do we still live in a world where LAN modes are relevant?

Smash 4 is an interesting one to think about. I think it's a near lock to be considered a classic, if for no other reason than the fact that it has a burgeoning competitive scene that will continue to go strong for many years. Unlike Brawl, it has been wholeheartedly embraced as a competitive fighting game and the community is already huge. I remember reading that, as of the beginning of May, there have already been 105 Smash 4 tournaments with 100+ entrants this year. It's neck in neck with Street Fighter V for registered entrants at CEO 2016 right now. When you consider the fact that we're only one and a half years into what has been a six to seven year cycle between brand new Smash Bros. games, there's still a lot of time left for the game to grow and expand further expand its legacy.
The Bayonetta nerf as well as Bidou help that case, too.

Okay folks.

I know you've all been curious. His oblivious, repetitive, and obnoxious posts have always seemed a BIT like a persona, haven't they...? And not a sexy Persona like the ones them kids are always talking about- you know, the ones that shoot themselves in the head to summon demons or whatever. Those were the days of 3, sorry. I am sort of living in the past.

SPEAKING of living in the past! Starting today, I've decided to finish using my duplicate account, Ian Sane. Come on, don't tell me you never saw the signs- the three-syllable username, the huge gap between reasonable discussion and nonsensical rambling between the two of us? Don't comment on that last one, I know you know which is which. Maybe the biggest giveaway was my recent thread, the Airing of Grievances, in which I knowingly announced "I have become Ian Sane." "He" even posted in that thread, and made no mention of the reference! But in reality, I have always been Ian Sane. And I think, with all the retiring going on lately, it's time I hung up my trolling dupe for good. At least, I want to do it before Khush gives up his Lucario dupe. I'd like to be able to one-up him somehow.

It's been fun, everyone. God, it has been so fun. But all Ian sanity has to come to a close sometime. Farewell, from Evan_B, AKA formerly the Ian Sane.

1239
No offence Ian Sane, but I'm getting real sick of your Nintendo-rambling-hating ****.
Honestly, if he cared about other people's opinions, he would have laid off on it a long time ago.

1240
There's no way FFVII Remake is ONLY coming out on NX. That is a bad business choice for Square Enix in every regard.

Also, don't you guys get tired of doing this...? I honestly can't go into this thread without feeling exhausted. I know that specs are "important", but I'm sure Nintendo had much of this discussion long before you guys did. Or maybe they avoided it. Either way, arguing about what NX "should be" is a bit fruitless at this point.

I was quite impressed with the Zu Pharg in Xenoblade Chronicles X. I did have to move around during its second phase quite a bit, but I only had one very powerful Skell at the time.

I would also say that the final boss of Splatoon is truly something, though its a shame that it caps off the experience rather than being a milestone one the way to something more over-the-top.

In Kid Icarus: Uprising, I enjoyed the buildup to the mind-controlled Palutena fight, which made the whole thing quite epic and powerful. I can't say the final boss was all that enjoyable, but I did think it was suitably ridiculous.

Shantae and the Pirate's Curse has a number of great battles, but the final boss in 100% Tinkerbat collection mode is truly fantastic. High stakes, great music, and satisfying depiction of great power.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe has a pretty awesome final boss, with several great phases.

I also think a number of Pikmin 3's boss battles were quite fantastic, mixing strategy and resource management in interesting ways.

And of course, Code Name S.T.E.A.M. has a few epic skirmishes, but the battle against Star Face before facing the Shugguth in A.B.E. is a tough fight with dangerous enemies. However, it pales in comparison with the first time you face a Dreadnought (pretty much Cthulhu) in Queen Ozma's Throne Room.

1242
I mean, the word "classic" could mean a number of different things. Now, will many of these games be remembered fondly? I think the majority in the original post will, but fondness is also evidenced by reviews. Did many Wii U titles break new ground? Not really, but outside of graphics and music, many Super Nintendo games didn't, either. So there's a number of Wii U titles that are generally well-made games that will likely be enjoyed for years to come- but I don't think Splatoon or Mario Maker fall into that territory. Likewise, I've seen some pretty harsh critique for Bayonetta 2.

I think, as one of the few JRPGs on the system, Tokyo Mirage Sessions will attain some sort of cult-status, especially with its subject matter.

I don't even have to try to make these connections, Khush is doing it for me.

Of your list, I can only really back up Super Mario 3D World (the game where EAD FINALLY got the formula right), Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, and The Wonderful 101. I think Hyrule Warriors is mostly generic despite its mountains of content, Smash Bros. will be quickly discarded if a competitively superior sequel is ever released, and Bayonetta 2 is merely a serviceable sequel. As much as I'd like to cite Splatoon and Xenoblade Chronicles X, any game where online functionality is a crucial part of the game experience is already crippling itself- one day, those servers will go offline, and Splatoon will be a husk of its former self, which highlights its biggest flaw, and Xenoblade has a lot of communication going on and things that are really enhanced by its online play. This largely goes for Super Mario Maker, as well.

A game I would like to mention, however, is Pikmin 3, which is an extremely smooth gameplay experience enhanced by the modern conventions of gaming.

I actually find it hilarious that you still think im an alt despite all the evidence that im not! ;D
There's no way a real person could do what you do, Lucario.

Notice how when "you" cut "your" finger, Khush mysteriously decided to NOT post pictures of his own fingers...?! I SMELL A CONSPIRACY!

Maybe if we all pooled our offense to Khush's earlier post, we might be able to overcome his iron grip on the funhouse.

If his stupid alt Lucario wasn't always there to back him up.

The post above accurately displays what I love about Pokepal148.

And yet, they couldn't summon the balls to have Beta-Ray Bill.

Step up your game, MCU.

Yo peeps,

I've noticed that I don't get no respect for my actions on this forum. Well, not everyone can be Khush or his spam bot Lucario! So I've decided, I'm giving up the Evan_B persona for good. If getting replies means running a joke into the ground, I'll take it one step furTHEr, because I'm taking this to the NeXt level, and I doubt any of you WILL dare to stop me. So SUCK it.
