General Chat / Satoru Iwata is coming to Down Under?
« on: June 01, 2004, 10:28:24 PM »
Someone help me........get me an oxygen mask!

At work today, during my break, I was reading the newspaper my co-worker bought along, and was looking thru the TV/electronics/gaming section and they had an article about Nintendo and what they presented at E3.  They, or some other Aussie media interviewed Satoru Iwata and was quoted saying (I don't remember the exact words, sorry) that he is sorry about the situation and poor sales of the GameCube in Australia.  He also said he has never been to Australia and plans to visit (didn't say when).

I shocked when I read that.  I never thought I see the day when Nintendo's president will visit Australia.  Sadly I didn't take the newspaper home with me, and I checked if the article was online, but it isn't.  I will keep checking the next few days.  The article mentioned other stuff; about portable gaming and next gen., the usual stuff you have already read on other sites.

If he is really coming Down Under, I suggest he brings Reggie along!

Well if nothing else, demand posters and other free stuff. When my Mum went to the Australian Nintendo HQ she got me a bunch of posters, like the full sized advertising ones which was pretty cool.

Really?  Then I should drop into NAL when I'm in Scoresby next week!

If it's said on a forum, then it must be true.

I am speechless.  Never did I expect MS to drop themselves that low.

And I agree with Ian post.

Another really good TV commercial by NCL.  It's a shame it won't be aired out of Japan.

NOA and NOE should really learn from NCL.

It is really more of a tactical-RPG.  You can develop your superheros by adding new powers and upgrading them.

Sega would be perfect for it, I think.

Oh man, I would have an orgasm if a EA, Sega or anyone developed a football game that took full use of the touch screen.  Draw out/modify plays could be a problem though, due to the cartridge and not enough save data?  It would be cool if you touch the screen where you want the QB to throw the ball.  And maybe use voice recognition so you can call "hut" and possibly audibles, although it can be embarrassing doing that on the train.

Not only is Tales of Symphonia not on the list for Best RPG, but Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich isn't too.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....Freedom Force owns as a PC RPG (IGN voted it as the best PC RPG at E3).

Make sure you buy a multi-system TV in US.  Then you should be alright with PAL games that run at 50Hz, methinks.

Don't Alienware make good laptops for gaming? (well, not as good as desktops though)

I think some of their laptops allow for upgrading the graphics card.

Forget the mini-Mario.  I want one of the mushroom girls, preferably the yellow one!

Yeah, we get your point cubedcanuck, but not everyone is rich like you and can afford to spend $50 a year for an updated roster.  When you could in the past, use the editor and/or DL the new dataset.

Yep, it was Japan ran out of coins when Space Invaders was released.  I remember b/c it was mentioned on documentary about the history of video games on the Discovery Channel.

You can buy Nintendo products in Australia?  That's a shocker....

I have to say joeamis got everyone with his second-to-last post.  I remember reading the part about Polyphony Digital taking 30,000 photos per track (can't remember where), and it really impressed me.

Kudos dude!
