I remember Rick Powers saying on another thread that PGC will probably not release an E3 DVD this year.

Sorry if this broke your heart.

I haven't download any of the E3 clips yet (will soon), but I downloaded one of the older ones weeks ago, and really liked what I saw.

The cel-shading looks really good and smooth.  I'm really looking forward to this game.

Heh, I really like the Grandia II OST.  Have you played it?  It's a really good RPG with an awesome battle system.
The songs I really like are Fight!! Ver. 1 and 3.

BTW, I don't think PGC will produce a E3 DVD this year.  Just my gut feeling.

I really wish there would be an option to play SMB3 in classic mode.  I really prefer the game to be unchanged, the NES classic.  That's me.

And to bring back the memories!  Mario and Nintendo were my childhood.  *sniff*

I certainly hope I don't get 40 minutes of adverts and previews on Tuesday night or it will be *hulk smash!*

I've downloaded several video clips.  Don't download the IGN MGS:TTS, it's freakin' 44MB.  Go to the Magic Box and they have a link to Konami's site and the download is 10MB.  Very 56k friendly.  I don't know if it's the same video, but there's no way in hell I'm gonna download a 44MB video clip.

Ones I've downloaded:
Mario Kart - looks like a hell lotta fun
F-Zero - WOW, the sense of speed is awesome
FF:CC - graphics are pretty, but the gameplay doesn't have me interested.  I would rent it first before buying.  Too early to tell.
Wario Ware Inc. - I NEED this game
MGS:TTS - boring video clip
Viewtiful Joe - I'm looking forward to this game.  Good old fashion 2D gameplay
Giftpia - I pray this game is released in PAL.  Looks like fun and cute!

As for the largest thread, I haven't come across one that's over 1000 post (or I have a short term memory span), but I remember in a forums that I used to be a regular, someone started a "Is a boob job a good thing?" thread!   Maybe one of us should start one, and get banned by the mods!  hehe

No one pointed out that Marker put his arm around these girls!  You are one lucky man.

I really gotta go to E3 someday.  Travel half way around the world just for this event.  I am crazy.

And what did you expect from Tecmo and their booth bades?  They put a high priority on them!

General Gaming / Anyone else think Nintendo had a lame show?
« on: May 17, 2003, 01:37:53 AM »
Well said The Perm.  I was wondering too.  Didn't Miyamoto say that Nintendo were letting other companies develop games for their existing franchises to work on new franchises?

Or maybe they were too early in development to be shown?  Or maybe that's for SpaceWorld if they have one this year?

E3 did suck this year.  *sign*

And where's my Virtua Fighter Quest?????????????  *does Hulk smash!*  Isn't this game being released at the end of the year?  Shouldn't Sega be giving info on the game now?

You have nearly finished TWW?  Holy crap.  I've spent nearly 20 hours on OoT, and I haven't finished the THIRD dungeon!  Yeah, basically I'm taking my time, collecting as much pieces of hearts and these skeleton things.

I wasted hours trying to figure where to find Jabu-Jabu.  And yeah, I caught a 10 pount fish a few days ago.  I like it when Link's eye light up when he catches a fish!

How long did it take any of you guys to finish OoT the first time?  I'm wondering because it looks like it's gonna take me 50 hours, or so.

I'll be seeing the Matrix Reloaded on Tuesday night.  Guys, when the credits roll, do NOT leave your seats.  Stay till the end as it will have a sneak preview of the next movie, Revolutions.  I found that out from my newspaper.  Did you see that Termin8Anakin?

I've been depressed for the last 12 months because I've been ill most of the time.

What do I do?  Going to the gym when I'm feeling well helps.  I take out my frustration and it helps my stress.  Yeah, take that you useless piece of dumbbell!

There's a developer in Melbourne called "Melbourne House".  What a terrible name!  They are on Queens Road, next to Albert Park Lake, were the F1 Grand Prix is hosted.  I think their lastest game was a F1 game release for PS2.

Have fun Grey Ninja!  I'd rather spent my free time playing games.  Or wasting it on this forum!

MGS3 looks better graphically than MGS:TS.  I know pictures don't do justice, but damn, I didn't know the PS2 could pump out that much detail.  The environments look really detailed.  I really hope SK pump the graphics up for MGS:TS, although they do look really smooth and crisp.

Or better yet, get a AiAi orange T-Shirt, the one with a big "A" on the front.  AV used to sell them.    Or I could go to a T-Shirt printer shop and have one made for myself.  What a great idea!

I saw the news PGC put up.  But I know for a fact that I beat Ben to the punch!  So, yeah, it feels good!

Again, I'd be happy to scan the front cover of the Connect section (the TV guide and gadgets part of the paper).  Not front page news though.  Let me know.

And I could go to Nintendo Australia HQ, since it is only a 35-45 drive, just near where I used to work.  Well sort of, they moved after my contract was finished.  But what should I say?

AiAi: Umm, I'm here to see the sale and marketing director.
Secretary: And who might you be?  We don't allow the general public in.  And how did you get past security?
AiAi: What?  You don't recognise me?  I'm AiAi from Super Monkey Ball!  You wouldn't have any bananas around here, would you?
Secretary: Hmmm? Security!
*Get thrown out*

No wonder Nintendo don't advertise much.  Too much money spent on heavy security to keep people like you and me away.

mouse_clicker - I know the PSP has no user base, but I'm sure it does now.  I bet it is the same people who believed in the PS2 hype, and are now drooling at the PSP specs, forgeting the fact it is vaporware.  Remember, the Playstation name sells.

ActorJ - You made a good point I forgot to put in my last post.  Cartidges vs optical disc.  For sure, developers will go for the optical disc since it is cheaper.    And if Nintendo do make their next Game Boy using optical disc, it is not possible to play old Game Boy games.  Which will reduce the games library to zero.

And I want to make another point.  When will Nintendo release their next Game Boy?  Or can for that matter?  They can't too soon, because they just released the SP, or they will piss a lot of people off.  Remember the Genesis and the Sega CD and 32x?  My guess is for a least 2 years.

I agree.  I thought Australians were smart because we have a better eduactional system than most countries (no offense meant folks), but Xbox sales Down Under show that I am wrong.  Very wrong.

I rang the computer store about the Mario Party pack.  There's a catch.  You have to purchase a GC.  Damn!

One of the Melbourne newspaper had a story about the GameCube, one year after its launch today in the TV guide/electronics section.  It was a one page read, and had quotes from Nintendo Australia sale and marketing director.  He basically said that they are disappointed (!) with sales and hoped to have a 15-20% share as opposed to the 6%.  Also, he said they won't follow MS lead because they don't have Windows to fall back on.  The front on the TV guide had a funny cover art.  Mario (frown on his face) in his go-kart with the wheels off on bricks (!), with the PS2 and Xbox controllers on the other two go-karts driving away.

If anyone is interested reading it (it was a fairly short article), or seeing the cover art, let me know and I'll scan it.  I'll email it or Termin8Anakin will be happy to host it on his website.

BTW, the Playstation Player has me worried.

YES YES and YES!

I've been waiting for Mario 3 on the GBA.  My favourite platformer of all time.  This makes me a happy boy!

That's exactly what I was going to say.  If you want to see my to opinion on this, see the similar thread in the Other Systems Discussion.
Nintendo should be worried.  This is Sony for crying out loud, with a huge user base.  And damn Sony for turning handheld games into FMV.  Damn them.

General Gaming / PlayStation Portable, a serious contender to GBA?
« on: May 13, 2003, 10:13:57 PM »
If I were Nintendo, I would be worried.  This is Sony for crying out loud.  I don't buy Sony products, but many people do, and part of it is because their products look cool.  Nintendo were smart to release the GBA SP.

Playstation has a huge user base, and while many of them do have a GBA, I see many of them flocking to the PSP.  And I see developers jumping to develop games for the handheld, b/c like I said, PS2 has a huge user base.  And that 1.8GB media disc will be attractive to them.

So this begs the question.  How much will this cost?  How much battery life does it have?  I'm sure Sony is smart and will not make it another Game Gear (and I know since I have one).

And I have to say I hate this.  Why?  Because the reason I like the GBA is to play 2D games.  With the PSP looking like a 3D system, Nintendo will have to make their next Game Boy a 3D system.  I was hoping it would remain a 2D system.  I wish 3D gaming would be left for the home consoles.
